GNAC TITLE, NCAA PLAYOFF AT STAKE: Without a spot in the regional top 10 as of last week, the Seawolves almost certainly need to win this week s tournament and accompanying automatic bid for the West Regional Championships to reach the NCAA Tournament... the winners of the GNAC, Pac West and CCAA tournaments, along with the next fi ve teams in the West Region rankings, will participate in the NCAA West Regional Championships, Mar. 9-12. KNOW THE FOE: Like the Seawolves, Seattle Pacific lost its leading scorer (6-6 So. F Tony Miller, 18.0 ppg) before the midpoint of the season, but rallied for an upper-half GNAC finish nonetheless... the Falcons won three of their last five games to tie UAA for fourth in the final league standings and earn the No. 4 seed by virtue of a tiebreaker... SPU is led by 6-5 So. G Gavin Long (12.3 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 1.9 apg,.530 FG,.817 FT) and 6-5 Jr. F Coleman Wooten (11.3 ppg, 7.1 rpg, 3.1 apg,.551 FG,.491 FT)... should the Seawolves beat the Falcons, they would face top-seeded Western Oregon in Friday s quarterfinals... the Wolves are riding a 20-game winning streak into GNACs, posting double-digit margins in all but one contest since Jan. 18... WOU is led by 6-4 Sr. F Tanner Omlid (13.5 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 3.2 apg, 2.6 spg, 1.9 bpg,.515 FG,.682 FT) and 6-2 Sr. G Ali Faruq-Bey (11.7 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 1.8 apg, 1.5 spg,.443 FG,.353 3FG,.828 FT). UAA has won three straight in Seattle, although SPU has won five of the last six in Anchorage... this marks teams first neutral-court meeting since an 80-67 SPU win in the 2012 NCAA West Regional semifinals in Bellingham, Wash.... teams have played just once in GNAC Tournament, with UAA winning 72-67 in a home game in the 2011 semifinals... five of the last seven meetings have been decided by 3 points or fewer, including two overtime contests... 18 of the last 24 games have been decided by 11 points or fewer SPU leads 22-12 in GNAC regular-season meetings (since 2001-02), with six games going to overtime SPU is UAA s 3rdmost common opponent (74 meetings)... series started in UAA s first year of Div. II competition in 1977-78. ALL-TIME vs WOU: UAA leads 21-16 overall, 12-5 in Anchorage Last Meeting: WOU 72-62 (1/27/18 at UAA) Streak: WOU 4 Notes: UAA s 4-game losing streak is its only current multi-game skid against a GNAC opponent and its longest ever against WOU... last year s triple-overtime loss in the GNAC Tournament Semifinals in Lacey, Wash., tied for the longest game in Seawolf history... six of the last eight games have been decided by 10 points or less... WOU has won eight of the last nine after UAA won nine straight from 2010-14... WOU leads 2-0 in the GNAC Tournament (2017 semis, 2014, quarterfinals)...
