Woodford Equestrian Woodford House has partnered with Amy Roydhouse, Grand Prix show jumper and owner of Reins, to provide students in Years 7 13 with an equestrian academy that encourages girls to believe in themselves and achieve individual excellence in their chosen discipline. Woodford Equestrian is focused on developing the ambitions and goals of students to help them achieve on horseback and in their lives. Girls will receive professional coaching catered to their riding level, whether that is low, intermediate or advanced, by Amy Roydhouse and other selected professional coaches all year round. Students will have the opportunity to study equine as well as compete on the national circuit. There are plenty of local opportunities for those who do not wish to compete nationally. Girls horses will be cared for at a purpose-built facility in a quiet no-exit road in close proximity to Woodford House. Riders will also have access to Montana Arena, one of the best arenas in Hawke s Bay. Woodford Equestrian is located close to the Hawke s Bay Equestrian Park where riders can join the local Pony Club, as well as the Showgrounds Hawke s Bay, which is home to Horse of the Year. We are proud to be the only school in Hawke s Bay to offer this specialised academy.

Equestrian Programme Each rider will receive a personalised programme so she can reach her goals in equestrian. Woodford Equestrian enriches the lives of students by providing the following: Professional coaching across the disciplines Daily riding time Daily transport Session planning and goal setting Equine studies Support at selected events and competition Personalised programmes Health and fitness Hands-on care of horses Options to attend International Coaches Clinics Workshops, seminars and guest speakers, which will include: In-depth horse nutrition Pasture management Injury and lameness prevention and cure Goal setting Human sports nutrition Sports psychology Horse breeding Facility management
Facilities Woodford Equestrian has access to two purpose-designed facilities, including one of the best arenas in Hawke s Bay. The facilities are situated opposite each other on a quiet no-exit road and include: 60m x 40m lime sand arena with floodlights Full set of show jumps 600m canter track Purpose-built lunging yard Training show jumps Practice dressage arena Sound system for riding to music Kitchen, toilet and shower facilities Stables, tack and feed shed Wash bay Flat grazing land
Professional Coaching Head Coach Amy Roydhouse is a successful Grand Prix show jumper and well respected coach in Hawke s Bay. She has many New Zealand riding titles to her name, including Show Hunter of the Year and multiple Grand Prix placings on both ponies and horses. Amy discovered her passion for coaching, after coaching the Heretaunga Pony Club at the New Zealand Pony Club Show Jumping Championships in 2009. Amy, a NZQA accredited assessor, is 100% committed to providing all her students with the best training and education possible. Through the Academy, Amy provides consistent clear training that helps riders to achieve goals while maintaining and growing the confidence of both the horse and rider. Amy believes equestrian is a partnership between horse and rider. She works with riders to develop skills they can use to produce calm and confident horses. Amy hopes her students can take some of the empathy, confidence and other skills they learn in training horses and use it to influence the way they interact with people throughout their lifetime.
Woodford Equestrian Fees Woodford Equestrian: $132 per week Transport: $67 per week* Fees include: Full Equestrian programme Horses agisted at maintained facilities Daily riding time Coaching by Reins staff *Transport costs are compulsory. Fees are inclusive of GST. Selection Criteria Woodford Equestrian riders must meet the following criteria: Own, lease or have consistent access to a pony or horse Ride independently Be capable of riding a low level dressage test Complete a round of show jumping at 50cm Basic knowledge of pony or horse management
