My First Blackhawks Game Age 11 On Friday of Columbus weekend, My Mom said we were going on an adventure. I was so excited! When we got to United Center, I knew we were seeing the Blackhawks. Luckily my Mom didn t forget our jerseys. When we went into United, we saw many people. We also went into the gift shop and I bought a pennant. I also bought a feather barrette. When we went into the ice rink, I saw the banners. Even the one that they raises at the beginning of the season. I saw Kane, Toews, Keith and many other players. We had many snacks...like ice cream! At half time I got to make a banner to hold up during the game. The Blackhawks played the New York Islanders. They won 3-2. Toews scored! As well as Nordstrom and Hossa. It was one of the best experiences ever! Chicago Blackhawks Age 11 2

Age 8 There once was a boy, named Harry, who wanted a pet. So he went to a store and found a secret portal. He looked at it, he stared at it, he touched it and he got sucked in. The portal took him to the second generation. He landed on the ground. He saw aliens and other futuristic stuff like: space bugs, space animals, and a unicorn. Harry ran over there and petted the unicorn. I want one he said. To be continued... Children birth-5th Grade may participate! One Sunday, I went to the Shedd Aquarium. I have always wanted to go there. I also saw jellies, some were glowing and others were flat. My favorite, the really big ones, were so many colors. Next I saw sharks but they didn t have any Great White sharks. Also I saw nurse sharks who are the nicest sharks around! They also had stingrays, you could see under a glass walkway. The stingrays kept splashing their tails, like they wanted to play! The Shedd, has other creatures too, like frogs, turtles, and even snakes. Also birds and a big iguana. It was hard to find the frogs, but I did, and most of them were Poison Dart frogs. The Shedd has many different kinds of fish. I saw a puffer fish but I couldn t make it blow up like a balloon. I also got to see Beluga whales and dolphins. They showed a video and it was amazing! One of my favorite animals, was a sea lion that got shot but survived. It made me happy that they rescue animals. Then I saw penguins that looked like they had mohawks. It was feeding time so they were swimming everywhere. One penguin, kept coming up out of the water, with it s hair still perfect. The penguins were fat and cute! I thought it was an awesome place and I would go there again. I thought that my favorite were the Beluga whales. Shedd Aquarium Age 11 St. Walters Hey! it s me Connor! Mt. Rushmore Age 10 When you think about Mt. Rushmore you think of a big mountain, with former presidents heads on it. Really, Mt. Rushmore is more than that. The rock formation is granite and was called The Needles before it was sculpted. A Native American tribe, called Lakota Sioux had been settled there, before the carving had started. The granite mountain is 1278 acres, 5725 feet and is 5000 feet above sea level. Mt. Rushmore is located in the Black Hills near Keystone, South Dakota, USA. Doane Robinson, a historian in South Dakota, asked a Danish American, Gutzon Borglum, to sculpt the stone. He designed the heads of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln. Robinson started to raise money in 1925. Carving started in 1927. Then the faces were completed between 1934 and 1939. It took 400 workers just for Washington s face. His head is 60 feet tall. His eyes are 11 feet tall and his mouth is 18 feet wide. Mt. Rushmore was named after Charles E. Rushmore because he donated $5000. The colossal mountain cost the USA $989,992.32. It now attracts 3,000,000 people annually. With those facts I hope you learned more about what stands today as Mt. Rushmore! Jim Oglethorpe is actually a real person! He was the founder of Georgia Colony. 8
