Route Overview
Wroclaw - Prague Total: 305 Miles / 16,500 feet (Comparison Atlantic to Med : 305 miles / 12,500 feet)
Day 1 Wroclaw to Jesenik
79 Miles 3000 feet Very gentle 2% / 300 feet Lunch Mostly gentle 2% with small sections 5%
Day One Summary Start at very impressive Rynek - the historic Wroclaw market square. One of the biggest squares in Europe. Once route leaves Wroclaw it is very much off the beaten track - very rural, and will see many small farming villages and hamlets.
Day One Summary Up to lunch it is predominantly flat. Roads were on the whole very quiet on the recce (except departing Wroclaw) and expect to be similar on the ride. After lunch the terrain becomes more picturesque and hilly. Towns more prosperous. Crossing into Czech Republic start to see signs of tourism. Still quiet roads with a busier section for final 5 miles with run in to Jesenik.

Day 2 Jesenik to Nachod
81 Miles 6800 feet Moderate 3% / 1000 feet Lunch Series of short climbs of approx 600 feet. 4% with some a few small steeper sections
Day Two Summary Toughest day. One fairly big ascent then succession of small climbs. Gentle few km to start then 1000 foot climb passing through the ski region of Ostružná, not steep at around 3-4%. Long downhill follows of about 9 miles. Continue to and pass through the scenic Orlicky Mountains. A low lying hilly range where there are about 4 climbs of approx 600 feet and 4 climbs of about 250 feet. Gradients 3-5% with some short steeper sections..
Day Two Summary Road traffic was very quiet to moderate on the recce. Possibly some more holiday traffic in June. Final descent of 5 miles to the tourist town of Nachod.
.
.
Day 3 Nachod to Kutna Hora
Small climb, 200ft 5% 81 Miles 2700 feet Lunch
Day Three Summary Today is a rest from the hills except one small climb leaving Nachod, otherwise very flat. Traffic busy for first 2 miles then mostly on minor roads passing through villages and small towns. Weather permitting it should be very pleasant cycling passing through the fertile Polabi region of Central Bohemia. Mostly agricultural land with pockets of woods. Day finishes in the cobbled and historic town of Kutna Hora which is a UNESCO world heritage site.
.
.
Day 4 Kutna Hora to Prague
63 miles 3800 feet ascent Looks steep here but only 1-2% 5% Lunch Cycle Path into Prague
Day Four Summary Depart Kutna Hora on narrow cobbled streets through the town centre. Then the day has a good mix of gentle rolling hills, river valleys and woods. Avoidance of main roads for virtually whole day and don t expect traffic to be very busy. From the outskirts of Prague the route follows 10 miles of a good quality cycle path running alongside the River Vlatva and into the centre of Prague. Finish in a park with views over the city centre.
