EXTRA EXTRA! North Delta Swim Meet The time is coming where we must plan for our awesome home meet at Sungod Recreation Centre. This is the meet before regionals and everyone comes out to compete to prepare for the meet of the summer, regionals! We need volunteers to start signing up for jobs at the meet, this includes roles like parking, food for officials, marshalling, and so much more! All hands on deck! We are also looking for donation for the raffle baskets we provide every year! Please contact a board member if you have something to donate to our meet. Mental training Mental training is a huge part to an athletes success. Believing in yourself and knowing exactly how your race is going to run will lead to a happy swimmer and a happy coach. The swimmers are happy because their hard work has paid off and they got a best time. The coaches are happy because they were right all along and the swimmer listened! You are all awesome! Now you just need to accept your awesomeness, put in the work, and kick some butt! Preparation and Confidence: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hmzhacuhp9e Michael Phelps talking about his mental preparation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8swotgxbtww Movie Date Changed! Movie Day has been moved to Friday July 13th. We will be going to see The Incredibles 2 sometime during mid-day so we don't interfere with practices. COACHES CORNER Head Coach Sam L Aquaman Hello group 4! This upcoming week we will be working on freestyle and backstroke. We will also be adding in more and more sprint work along with our increasing endurance work. As we continue to push ourselves everyday in the pool, we must maintain the changes we have made to our technique and strive to make them habits. Everyone did really well this weekend at Super 7, lots of best times and technical improvements were clearly seen! I want to make sure every knows that you ARE GREAT, and you CAN accomplish your goals. I have been hearing a lot of 'I can't', 'I gave up', 'I suck', and we shouldn't let that negativity weigh us down! This week we will try and work on some mental training, and learn how to approach a race. For this I will need focus and absolutely no goofing around. So I really hope we can work on this as I feel its very necessary for a successful season. sam.l@ndsunfish.com Coach Alyssa Superman Hello everybody, great job last week with our endurance and IM swimming. I saw a great improvement in attitude and behaviour last week, so let s be sure to keep that going strong. Lots of us also had great races this weekend at the Super 7 swim meet, I m very impressed with our group this week. Since school will be out soon (yay) I would like to see more and more of us at morning practice. It s a great opportunity for more training and a quieter practice. This week, it s all sprints sprints sprints. See you at the pool :) pacealyssa1@gmail.com Coach Paul Batman Hello Batman Swim Group. Everyone who raced this weekend at Super 7 can be very proud of themselves, best times and beautiful swimming. Shaving off time is one thing but correcting our stroke week in and week out, is how we become better swimmers. These next two weeks are going to be important ones as they re not typically race weekends, so our focus is going to be on heavy drill work and making sure our fitness doesn t levels dip too far down. We are already half way through our seasonal plan and now is the time in our season when we start to really iron out quirks in our stokes, and build up our race plans so that our mental preparation is on par with our physical. Please be wary of tech time and try make an effort to be there, they re only there for your benefit and it isn t another swim practice. Also, don t forget water bottles, trainers for dry land and if you haven t already could you hand back your goal sheet that I slipped in with your Assessment. Coach Paul. paulandrewduplessis@gmail.com Coach Sam F The Flash Hi group 2! I m sorry for not being there this weekend but I heard all of you that went did amazing. I m happy to see all the progress you have made from the beginning of the season. This week is a high intensity practice focusing on endurance with fast sprints with short amounts of rest. Trying to hold our best average possible. As the days do get warmer I expect to see all kids bringing a water bottle to practice as well as to maintain there safety for dry land have them bring runner and make sure they are wearing them for dry land. samf590@gmail.com Junior Coach Holly Captain America Hey Group Captain America! I had a blast at Super 7 with you guys this weekend, I got to see some of your awesome races! Last week we mostly worked on freestyle and a bit of butterfly. This week we are going back to the basics and going to work on freestyle and backstroke. This weeks Swimmer Of The Week goes to Amira! She always has an great attitude and listens during practice and dryland, nice job Amira! We have the first development meet is this Wednesday hope to see lots of you guys there! Also don t forget to sign up for up coming development meets and swim meets. See you at the pool! Coach Holly beanfriesen@gmail.com Junior Coach Olivia Hulk Hey Hulk Group!! This weekend we had some swimmers from our group race and everyone got some killer best times! I was very happy to see that those of us that swam 50 or 100 free did flipturns and streamlines off the walls! This week we will be working on using our hips even more in our dolphin kick and will begin working on our butterfly. We will also be working a little bit more on our freestyle and breaststroke body positions and turns! I can t wait to see you at the pool! Remember to bring your running shoes and water bottle! oliviaroschat@gmail.com Junior Coach Tony Hulk Hi group Hulk! Awesome, awesome, awesome job this weekend at the super 7 meet! We've improved so much sjnce our last meet and I'm super proud of all of you who showed up! Last week, we worked on breaststroke again and we also started to learn our dolphin kick, a.k.a. our 'belly-bum dance', which we have been getting pretty good at actually! Leaving breaststroke aside for now, this week we will continue to work on our dolphin kick, trying to improve our feeling and rhythm as we prepare to learn the Butterfly stroke. We will also do some front work and work on our flip turns as well. See you all at the pool! Coach Tony aquadash@outlook.com Junior Coach Oscar Hey group Iron Man! Who is ready for the development meet this week? I hope to see many of you there. Congratulations to Francisco for coming out to his first big swim meet at Super Seven! He swam well (and got candies too)! Last week we learned backstroke and continued to develop our freestyle. This week we will get race ready by practicing flip turns and dives. That s all, see you guys in the pool! oscarure49@gmail.com Ironman

A great breakfast for our strong swimmers. Here is the link to the recipe! https://minimalistbaker.com/favoritesmoothie-bowl-5-minutes/ I encourage you to cook with your kids to promote healthy eating and good family fun! Ps.
