Basketball Competition Information Pack Welcome to the YMCA at Lake Haven Recreation Centre Sports Competitions Thank you for choosing the YMCA indoor sports competitions. All of our competitions are professionally run and are SERIOUSLY FUN. Our sports competitions focus on fun, fairness and participation. We have great facilities and offer the latest in online draws, results and fixtures. This document contains all the information in regards to our Night-time Basketball competitions on offer and includes a team nomination form. Our basketball competition is 5-a-side and played indoors on floor-boarded courts and based on FIBA International Rules. NEW TEAM REGISTRATIONS FOR 2017 SUMMER COMPETITION HOW TO REGISTER 1. Team Captain/Manager to fill out team nomination form and hand in/emailed to the YMCA at LHRC. PLEASE NOTE THAT NO FIXTURES WILL BE ALLOCATED UNTIL YMCA HAS RECEIVED YOUR TEAMSHEET 2. Individual players must sign team nomination form, and pay individual registration fee of $11.00.Registration is included for YMCA membership holders. All players must be registered before taking the court. NOTE: REGISTRATION FEES ARE TO BE PAID BY THE 3rd COMPEITION GAME. TEAM REGISTRATION Team registration sheets including ALL player details must be completed upon registration. LHRC will not roll over registration forms from previous season. Only players who appear on the team sheet will be eligible to play. Team captains are responsible for updating player details. A player must play at least 5 games to be eligible for finals. ALL TEAM REGISTRATIONS MUST BE COMPLETED BY: Thursday 28 th February PLEASE NOTE THAT WE HAVE LIMITED CAPACITY AND OPPERATE ON A FIRST IN FIRST SERVED BASIS.

Basketball Information Pack SEASON DATES/TIMES The season kicks off on Tuesday 7 th March 2017. Please see the draw for exact dates. Draw will be released prior to competition commencement. All competitions will have 2 weeks of finals series. TEAM REGISTRATION Team Registration sheets including ALL player details must be completed upon registration for any competition. Only players who appear on the team sheet AND have paid and signed the registration form will be eligible to play. The Centre recommends 7 players per team, minimum of 6 and maximum of 10 players are allowed on each team. If you wish to have more than 10 players on your team, Team Captain must consult with the YMCA staff first. Team registration sheets from previous competitions are not acceptable. A new team sheet is required each season. Team Captains are responsible for updating player details throughout the season. TIMESLOTS ALLOCATION Games will run between 6:00pm 10:30pm, with timeslots subject to demand and may change. While every effort will be made to accommodate team preferences, no guarantees can be made. The Centre will endeavor to give all teams an even spread of game times across the season. Team Competition Fees Individual registration fee: $11.00 per player (included in YMCA membership) Game Fee: $50.00 per team, per game Forfeit Fee: $75.00, to be paid following round Withdrawal Fee: $75.00 Games fees are to be paid at the front desk before each game. Games will not start until both teams have paid, however the clock will start on time. TEAM CAPTAIN/ COACH A team captain/ coach must be nominated on the team nomination form. In the event of a forfeit or any correspondence, the team captain/ coach will be contacted by the Centre. It will be the responsibility of the team captain/ coach to pass all correspondence onto their team players. The team captain/ coach alone is responsible for organizing game fees from team mates and that all individual registrations are paid by week 3 of the competition. DURATION OF GAME Senior games are 2 x 20 minute halves. Running clock (last minute stop clock if game is less than 10 points difference for Division 1 ONLY.) One timeout can per taken per half for each team. No timeouts permitted in the last 3 minutes of each half

Basketball Information Pack SIGN ON All players must sign on on the score sheet before the start of a game by placing their shirt number next to their name. Late players must sign on before entering the court. The score sheet is located at the front desk before each game, games will not commence without all participating players signed on. TEAMS AND PLAYERS Six players must be registered before a team is included in the competition. Each person can only register in one team per division. Competition Points: Win = 3 points Draw = 2 points Loss = 1 points Forfeit = 0 points YMCA Lake Haven use s FIXI Sports Management system, get the APP to see your results and standings available at the App Store and Android. UNIFORMS All players in each team must wear like colored matching shirt/singlet. All players must wear permanent shirt numbers on the front and back of their singlet. Temporary numbers such as tape or stickers are not permitted. Non marking shoes must be worn. Teams not complying with the uniform rules (shirt, taped numbers, etc) will be penalised. 2 points is given to its opposition for each player out of uniform on that particular game (Maximum of 8 points). FORFEITS Forfeits require as much notice as possible, as courtesy for opposition teams. Four registered players are required to take the court. If you cannot fill a team, let LHRC know ASAP and we can attempt to arrange friendlies. In that case, the game will be registered as a forfeit but no team misses a game. BORROWING PLAYERS A team may only borrow a maximum of (1) registered player under the following circumstances: 1. If a team has (3) originally rostered players on the court, then a maximum of (1) registered player can be borrowed making a total of (4) players on the court. 2. Teams cannot borrow other registered players if there are already (4) players on the court. 3. You may NOT borrow any players from divisions above your own eg. CANNOT borrow Div 1 player for Div 2 game.

Basketball Information Pack STARTING GAMES: The game clock will start on time when referees are ready. If one team is not ready, they will be penalized 2 points for every FULL minute they are late. Maximum 20 points. FINALS SERIES Teams will play 2 weeks of finals/playoffs for all competitions. A player must have played 5 games with the team to be eligible to play finals. Players cannot be borrowed for finals; only registered players who appear on the team sheet are eligible to play. Finals will follow a top 4 format, with division split into blocks of 4 where possible. Semifinals will be sudden death fixtures where 1v4 and 2v3 with winner playing each other in the final. PENALTIES: Technical foul during game: will result in 5 minute sin bin. A substitute may come on during this time; however the offending player must remain off the court for a 5 minute period. If a team does not have a substitute, they must play with a person short for the duration of the 5 minute sin bin. Straight ejection = 1 week suspension (Pending referee report more weeks or indefinite Centre ban may apply. Referees have the ability to eject any player and or spectators acting outside the code of conduct) 3 Technical fouls or straight ejections over the course of season = 2 week suspension. 4 Technical fouls or straight ejection over the course of season = 1 addition week suspension 5 Technical fouls or straight ejection over the course of the season = Whole season suspension. Technical fouls will only be recorded for bad or un-sportsman like behaviour is displayed. Suspensions can apply for off the court incidents at the centre, you are responsible for your actions and behavior at all times. LHRC YMCA uses the Basketball NSW Schedule of Disciplinary Penalties as a guideline for warnings and suspensions. CHALLANGES Any challenges made by a team towards another team (i.e. suspected unregistered players playing) or other match disputes must be done through competitions staff as soon as possible, preferably at the start of the game. COMPLAINTS AND REPORTABLE CONDUCT PROCEDURE: Teams wanting to register a complaint or reportable conduct about another player, team, referee or center staff will need to complete a Match Report Form which will be given to all team captains upon request. PLEASE NOTE: That this is the correct way of registering a complaint. Teams failing to comply with this and confronting referees, players or staff may receive suspensions or dismissal from the competition. All complaints will be taken seriously and appropriate action will be undertaken in the following weeks of competition, however depending on the severity of the complaint, some complaints may take longer to resolve. Anonymous complaints can be handed in to staff on the day of competition or sent to. Complaints involving staff members or very serious complaints will need to be emailed to daniel.anderson@ymcansw.org.au DUTY/ BENCH: In order for the competition to run smoothly, it is expected that each team complete duty when requested and rostered to do so. Duty times will be released when new fixtures are made available, with team captains being notified. It is up to the team captain to check duty schedule. Failure to complete scheduled duty will result in a 3 point deduction from the competition ladder. This will be strictly adhered to by Centre Management.

Basketball Information Pack ALL PLAYERS AND SPECTATORS MUST ADHERE TO YMCA LHRC CODE OF CONDUCT PLAYER / COACH, MANAGER / SPECTATOR CONDUCT The YMCA bases our player, coach, manager and spectator conduct on our four core values, these are honesty, caring, respect and responsibility. Honesty All borrowed equipment must be returned to centre staff All players must be registered prior to taking the court Caring Should your team encounter a problem with the opposition, an umpire or a spectator please approach the Court Supervisor immediately. This approach should be made in a polite manner by the team manager or coach. Addressing the situation during the game will provide the best opportunity to rectify any problems. Should you feel that your complaint is not dealt with in a satisfactory manner by game night staff, please contact the Centre Manager. Management has the right to abandon games for safety of players, officials & spectators. Teams can request management or front desk staff to watch their game as an independent witness. Respect At no time will aggressive, insulting or dangerous behaviour be tolerated. No fighting or aggressive behaviour within the Complex whatsoever No swearing, disrespecting behaviour or comments indirectly on court, or directly towards players/officials/spectators/complex staff Use of derogatory language based on gender, race or impairment will result in dismissal from the competition No spitting within the Complex whatsoever The referee will have the final call and must be shown respect at all times All players/coaches will respect the direction of YMCA staff at all times Responsibility Players/spectators must not be under the influence of any alcoholic or drug substances or furthermore bring such substances onto the premises It is the responsibility of the captain/coach/manager to ensure players are signed in on the team sheet prior to every game Complex staff will record all infringements and notify players involved should this occur.

Failure to do so may result in termination from the competition. As Team Captain I understand the Centre s Sports Competition policies and procedures and have forwarded this pack to each player/or parent in my team for their information. I also understand that acceptance of this team into a competition is conditional upon the following criteria: Outstanding fee s, either a teams or individuals must be paid prior to entry of a new competition Unacceptable behavior will not be accepted by any person and may result in ejection from competition Centre management reserves the right to grade a team to an appropriate division at any stage of the competition.
