RECITAL PACKET WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO OUR 11 th ANNUAL RECITAL! It is very important that you take the time and read everything in this packet. Our dancers work hard all year in excitement and anticipation for their recital! They are looking forward to performing at our annual recital in front of friends and family and making memories that will last a lifetime! All of our recital classes will be split between the 6 shows, you can view each show line up in this packet so you know which show or shows your dancer is in. We do our very best to accommodate as many of our dance families as possible by keeping siblings in the same show and dancers who are in multiple classes in the same show, with having over 750 dancers it is impossible. Our rehearsal and recital shows will be held at the beautiful, state of the art theater at Lakeside High School, at 32593 Riverside Dr. Lake Elsinore. It features a very large stage with state of the art lighting and sound. The theater's technical staff is fantastic. They also provide us with amazing backstage facilities for the dancers. The theater provides seating for 750.This packet includes all of the information you need regarding recital rehearsal, recital line up for all 6 shows, ticket sales, flowers and gifts, shoes and tights your child will need, how their hair needs to be, and backstage worker s information. RECITAL SHOW DAYS & TIMES: Tuesday, June 13 th 7:00pm (Competition Showcase) Wednesday, June 14 th 7:00pm (Show 1) Thursday, June 15 th 7:00pm (Show 2) Friday, June 16 th 7:00pm (Show 3) Saturday, June 17 th 11:00am (Show 4) Saturday, June 17 th 3:00pm (Show 5) Saturday, June 17 th 7:00pm (Show 6) TICKET SALES: Ticket sales for our recital will be online! Tickets for all 6 shows will go on sale Wednesday, April 19 th at 9:00am. To purchase tickets go to our JDI website at www.jdidance.com and click on Purchase Recital Show Tickets (make sure you select the correct show time when purchasing tickets). Tickets are $17 each; there is a service charge from the ticket company of $1.70 per ticket. It is assigned seating and there is no minimum or limit on how many tickets you can purchase. Everyone attending the show will need a ticket to get in unless they are performing in the show or they are a lap sitting child ages 3 & under. If your dancer is in more than one show, tickets are required for each show you plan on attending. We do offer parents the option of volunteering backstage so they do not have to purchase tickets for more than one show, if this is something you are interested in please talk to Carly so she can put your name on the backstage workers list. FLOWERS AND GIFTS: At all 6 recital shows Tulips, Trophies, and Treasures will have a ton of flowers in singles, triples, and bouquets on sale in the lobby that you can purchase for your dancer (there will be more than enough available for purchase). They will also have trophies and medals of all sizes customized with the JDI logo! If you would like your dancers name added to their trophy you can take it into their shop anytime after the recital weekend and they will engrave your child s name for free! DVD ORDERS Golding Productions is a professional company that we have film and sell DVD s of all 6 recital shows. They do an amazing job! You will be able to order the DVD prior to, and at the recital. The cost per DVD is $28. FOOD VENDOR: We will have a food vendor at all 6 recital shows selling refreshments and food. RECITAL PICTURE DAY: Recital Picture Day will be Saturday June 10 th at JDI. Pictures will be taken by Sebring s Photography, this company offers onsite-proofing for you to view your child s photos before you purchase, amazing prices & products, and they ship the photos right to your home. It is so important that we have all dancers here for their group photos; the photographer will also be taking individual shots for those who are interested in purchasing them. Please make every effort to be here for the group photo as a courtesy to the other dancers. We will have the picture day lineup as we get closer.
REHEARSAL MONDAY, JUNE 12th: THIS IS NOT A DRESS REHEARSAL! Please make sure your child wears something comfortable to dance in and brings their correct dance shoes. All classes will run through their dance one time on stage and the dancers can go as soon as their class is done. Please make sure you are on time. Attached is the rehearsal line up. BACKSTAGE VOLUNTEERS: If you would like to volunteer to work backstage please send an email to us and let us know your name, child s name, and which show so we can add you to our list. All parent volunteers will be assigned to their child s class and MUST stay until the end of the show. RECITAL: We will have many parent volunteers that will be working backstage along with all of our instructors, we run it very organized! Dancers will sit at their classes assigned table in the backstage room with their class and the parents that are assigned to their group. We will have snacks, water, coloring books, and TV s so the dancers can watch the recital from backstage. Below are the rules for the backstage area, this is to ensure the safety of our dancers and that our backstage area runs smooth for our dancers and JDI staff. Our staff works hard to make sure that this is a fun & exciting experience for all of the dancers involved, they will be in great hands. 1. Before checking in your child it is always a good idea to take them to use the restroom, this will help cut down on restroom trips during the show. If any dancers do need to go during the show our assigned instructor will take them. 2. All children must be checked in backstage by 1 parent and picked up by that same parent, this will cut down on the confusion and overcrowding in the hallway and speed up the process. 3. You will check in your child at the entrance of the backstage room (there will be signs out to follow). Janet Johnson and our staff will be checking in each child. Our instructors will be there to take each dancer to their classes assigned table. After your child is checked in parents have to leave the backstage area. 4. ONLY parents that are on our volunteer list will be able to go into the backstage room, this will help keep people from going in and out and keep it calm for the children. After your child is checked in parents have to leave the backstage area unless they are a parent volunteer. 5. Due to the safety of our dancers parents can not check their child out until the end of the show, we do not want people coming and going from our backstage area. Due to the length of our shows being 2 hours this will not be a problem. All dancers will be in our finale. 6. Dancers who have multiple costumes must have their costumes in a bag with their first and last name on the outside of their bag, this way it is easier for backstage workers to know whose is whose. Costume, Hair, & Makeup We recommend that dancers wear makeup for the recital because the stage lights will wash them out. We know our 18 month olds to 3 year olds are so young it might be impossible to put any makeup on them and that is okay, you can do whatever works for you and your child. For our 3 7 years olds we recommend wearing blush, lipstick, mascara, and any other makeup that you want to put on them is up to you. All of our dancers ages 8 and up we recommend having on foundation, powder, eye shadow (creams & dark brown for the crease), black eyeliner, mascara, blush, and lipstick. It is very important that your child has their name in their shoes and all costume pieces, along with their first and last name on the outside of their costume bag if they have multiple costumes. Below is a list of the tights they will need, shoes, and how their hair must be done. Please make sure that you have all of the correct items.
