CLUB NEWS By Anthony Lambert, General Manager Here it is March already, and it seems like the holidays were just last week. Time sure does fly when you are entertained and having fun, and that s what living in the Villages of Citrus Hills is all about. Speaking of entertainment, we hope you enjoyed the show season so far. The shows have been exceptional and members have given us accolades and rave reviews on their quality. Our goal is to keep raising the bar by bringing in the best acts possible. A huge thank you to everyone who participated in our survey to help us determine our upcoming Big Show and Special Performance headliners. Your feedback and selections were very helpful for us to ensure we book the shows that you would like to see. Judging by your top selections, next year s entertainment will undoubtedly be one of our best seasons ever! Again, many thanks for taking the time to complete the survey; with your input and help, we are confident we can deliver the type of entertainment you are looking for! Don t forget that Easter is right around the corner. We want to remind and encourage you to make your dinner reservations early for the Grille and Skyview. Reservations fill up quickly for these delicious events. Both restaurants do an incredible job with their holiday dinners, and the menus this year are no exception! If you haven t noticed the beautiful wedding ceremony site located just behind the Tiki Bar, take a look. The ceremony site is the perfect place to get married or renew your vows. If you know anyone who is looking for a site location in a gorgeous setting, please have them call our Catering Sales Office at 746-6855. Laura will be happy to assist you in any way, and help you create memories to last a lifetime. Lastly, the opening of our newest amenity, PrimoVita, has been an absolute success. Members have given high praise and outstanding compliments about the fitness facility. Many are very inspired to work out in such a modern and vibrant facility with high-energy pumping music to motivate you through your entire workout. If you haven t seen PrimoVita yet, please stop by and see what all the rave is about. Have a great month! Members Enjoying þe Club! BUILD ON YOUR HOMESITE By Greg Souris, Vice President Sales & Marketing Thank you to all of our members and residents for the support you have shown us by bringing your family and friends to see our four new Live Citrus Hills Models on the corner of Atlantic Street and Essex Avenue! So many of you have been back countless times, that I feel we should be paying you for being Ambassadors. LOL! Many prospective customers visiting our Model Center tell us that their friends are saying, "You have to see these models!" What started out as curiosity to see the latest home designs and decorated models has now made some of you think about building a new home! The flexibility we offer in making changes to our floor plans allows you to create the ideal dream home! Our Delayed Start Program allows you plenty of time to take possession of your home (based on your current situation), while locking you in at today's prices! Our LIVE Citrus Hills Fly/Drive & Buy Program is the perfect opportunity for homesite owners to revisit Citrus Hills for the purpose of building on their homesite. As we start to focus on the vacant homesites in Citrus Hills and Pine Ridge, one can only appreciate the space and lack of congestion that this area has to offer. The size of our homesites, chain of lakes, rolling hills, and state forest, undeniably limits density in our county, making us unlike any other part of Florida! This truly is a oneof-a-kind community! TENNIS TALK By Bruce Payne, Director of Tennis As March approaches, Skyview Tennis Center has eight teams competing in USTA Leagues that will wind down by the end of the month. Before they do, adult 40 and over and 55 and over Mixed Doubles Leagues will begin. Since the second set of leagues will overlap the first, March looks like it will be the busiest league month of the year. In addition, the adult 40 and over leagues require five courts per outing, as there are two singles matches included in each team contest. That s a lot of tennis, but we always look forward to a challenge! We received some disappointing news at the USTA captain s meeting in December. USTA National has declared there will no longer be a national tournament to end the 55 and over mixed doubles season. Many sections, including Florida, were quick to follow suit by removing 55 and over mixed from their list of sectional championships. The Marion District, in which we compete, will continue to offer the league for those who wish to play, with the understanding that district winners will not have the opportunity to advance to another level. Historically, 55 and over mixed doubles has been very popular in the Florida section and well represented in our district. A lot of us were disappointed by the news but encouraged by the fact that some member clubs in Central Florida may offer an unofficial year-end tournament for district champions. We fully support that effort, and will keep you up to speed on the progress made to that end. We hope our members interested in 55 and over mixed doubles continue to support district competition while we lobby to restore sectional and national tournaments to their original status. Despite our busy schedule in March, we saved one day for the annual Burger Bash on Sunday, March 20th. There s still time for Skyview members to sign up for the social. This year s event features: two hours of mixed doubles, followed by burgers and chicken grilled on-site, including two sides, a keg of beer, house wines and soft drinks on the Observation Deck. Please remember, non-members are allowed to partner and guest fees will be waived for this event. Call 249-1115 or email tennis@citrushills.com for more information. We really saw the phones light up and the visitors roll in once the snow storms hit the northern half of the country. People in those areas were once again reminded by Mother Nature that winter can be brutal! There are some key factors that contribute to this wave of enthusiastic visitors who are deciding to call Citrus Hills home or, at the very least, their winter residence. Mortgage interest rates remain historically low; Resale prices for existing homes continue to increase nationally; Consumer confidence continues to improve; Inventory of existing and new homes is being gobbled up; 13,000 Baby Boomers are leaving the workforce every day. move here, please contact your New Home Counselor, or give us a call so we can help. SKYVIEW GOLF By Herb Hurley, PGA Head Professional arch is usually when we M start to see the beginning of warmer weather. I, for one, sure am glad that January and February are behind us. Hopefully, March will break us out of our cool and wet pattern. Even though it is starting to warm up, it is still very important to obey all cart rules around the tees and greens. The Bermuda grass is still in dormancy and is very prone to wear and tear as well as compaction. I love that we have a sister club in Ocala, and can host rival tournaments that utilize both club courses. On February 18th and 19th, we held our 3rd Annual Ryder Cup with Ocala National. The home field advantage was definitely enjoyed by both teams. After day one, Skyview, the home team, held a significant lead by a score of 9 ½ to 2½. Day two was held on Ocala National s turf, and they proved that having home course knowledge was helpful. They were able to close the gap even though Skyview ended up holding on to win by a final score of 13½ to 10½. Great job guys, and we look forward to next year s fierce competition! It is always fun to see a player s excitement after getting their first hole-in-one; then to see their face again when they see their bar bill! Jerry Gould had his first ever holein-one on January 27th on hole #7 using his 6 Hybrid. Jerry told me this was his first ever hole-in-one after 72 years of playing golf. He figured out that with an average of 100 rounds a year and four par 3 s per round, that he has played roughly 28,800 par 3 s in his lifetime. With those odds, getting a hole-inone figures at 12,500 to 1, making Jerry one behind. Another member, Naji Yazbak, had an eagle on hole #8 from 170 yards away on February 2nd. Great going, gentlemen! As a reminder, I want to hear about all of your great rounds and unbelievable shots. If you had the round of your career or hit an unbelievable shot, let me know and you might just find your story here in the Connections. 2016 Senior, Super Senior, legends, & Super legends TournAmenT WinnerS Pictured: Bruce Browman - Senior Champion; Ken Marbutt - Net Flight #2 Champion; John Elsley - Legends Division Champion & Net Flight #1; Al Masden - Super Senior Champion. 3rd AnnuAl ryder Cup Ocala National awarding Skyview with the 3rd Annual Ryder Cup trophy! We hope that you have been able to enjoy the recent great Citrus Hills weather it only gets better. This is also the time of year that starts the traditional Selling Season in most of our northern markets. Owners, who are in the process of moving south, put their homes on the market as buyers; families, especially historically, make their move to be ready for the upcoming school year. In turn, our winter lookers return south as they wish to be settled in by the upcoming fall season. This entire process starts now. If you have decided to market your home, then this is the ideal time to start getting it ready for showing. Having a plan in place prior to actively listing it is critical. If the home is furnished, be sure that the furniture is arranged in the most advantageous way. This will help buyers imagine the best possible version of the home. Start by decluttering closets, countertops and work stations, lanais and garages. Depersonalizing the home is also Cafe Vita NOW OPEN! If you will be moving out while your home is on the market, then various levels of staging might be considered. Buyers find it easier to visualize a home when it s staged. They are also more willing to overlook any of the home s design flaws that an empty house might reveal. Not every room needs to be furnished. In order of importance, the family/ living room and the kitchen are typically the most important rooms of the home to showcase. This is followed by the master suite and the dining room, with the guest rooms and guest baths as the least important. Overall, staged homes typically have a more positive impact on the home s value. Terra Vista Realty Group is your expert community resource when it comes to marketing your home. They specialize exclusively in Brentwood and Terra Vista of Citrus Hills. Located in the Welcome Center, both Susan Mullen and Carl Manucci are here to assist you in any way. Call them at (352) 746-6121. They understand the community, and the pulse of today s buyers. Why settle for less when it is time to market your home for sale? Come try the latest and greatest golf equipment from these great brands: espressos, coffees, and a variety of retail beverages for golfers to take with them to enjoy during their game. Also available are refreshing workout-enhancing energy beverages and protein shakes. Spring Forward! Also, synthetic fabrics wrinkle less and dry faster. 2. Pack a lunch. Save money and pack a lunch or healthy snacks that taste good at room temperature. You never know when your flight may be delayed. 3. To avoid jet lag, get plenty of exercise the day before you travel. And once you land, get lots of fresh air for an instant pick-me-up. 4. Pack a light-weight scarf for chilly planes. You can use it as a little blanket or a pillow. Once you arrive at your destination you have the perfect accessory. 5. To keep your clothes smelling fresh, pop a dryer sheet in your suitcase. They have multiple other uses as well; reduce static in your hair, deodorize shoes, serve as a bug repellent, freshen up a hotel room and are great for getting off dry sand. 6. Always make left turns in the security line to get through more quickly. You are more likely to turn right than left when entering a building, so lines on the left will tend to be shorter. 7. Take a photo with your cellphone of the location sign where you park your car at the airport as you depart. This can be a real lifesaver when you return! 8. Snap a photo with your cellphone of your luggage when you check it. That way, if the bag gets lost, you'll have a recent picture to show the airline rep instead of trying to describe it. 9. Pack clothes that are wrapped in dry-cleaning plastic. That way, if baggage handlers leave your luggage in the rain, your clothes will stay dry. 10. Make copies of the front and back of your passport and credit cards. Then scan the pdf and email it to yourself, a relative, or friend before traveling overseas.
