Double Fishing Report Mon. 3/20 V8 Jim Tues. 3/21 Findictive 2.0! Fished with Hall of Fame Athlete V8 Jim in the 10,000 islands!!!!!!!!!!! Week of hard blow and other challenges, but the Athletes get out, with low expectation. Expecting dirty water, rough conditions and poor bite with lazy tide.4 water movement from High to Low tide?????????????????? As you would expect another Fine Group of Athletes was assembled for this backwater Adventure!! Poor conditions kept the Athletes tied up at the Dock so a busy day at Calusa Marina, including OOS of Shrimp???? High Season so the Charter Captains are loaded up with Tourists! Wind Blew last night 30 knots NW, not good for back water fishing!!!!!!!! Morning brought clear sky cool temps and bad conditions!!!! We decide to head N. to Cax Ambus and fish for Pompano!!!!!!!
We find horrible conditions Low Tide, dirty water, no bite! We move around at Cax but find NOTHING, Fish hard hoping the Pompano bite will turn on no such Luck???????? We decide to go S. in search of anything that will bite, hope to find a few Sea Trout, which have been elusive this season along with Red Fish?????????
Find Clear water!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fish some Bars that have produced this season!!!! Action Starts slow??? Cast to the bar and retrieve into a deep drop, start to pick some beautiful Sea Trout!!!! Use Pink Jigs tipped with shrimp expecting to find Pompano we pick through Trout. We get action for several hours, including a keeper Pompano, some lane snapper, cats, and few Jacks, we pick 5 keeper Trout all in the +18 range!!!!!!!!!!
Bite slows, we move around on the bar!!!! We keep picking fish, End this part of the trip with the 5 Trout!!!! We move to other spots hoping to get into Pompano & Red fish??????
Use Lady Fish Steaks on Jig heads, hope to get Redfish started NO SUCH luck?????? We end the day working good spots on our way back to Calusa but can t get anything else to bite?????? Did much better than we expected at the start of the day, good action in 1 spot, slow/dead in all others, all in all a great day for the Athletes!!!!!
Tues. 3/21 Capt. Mikey & Findictive 2.0 Maiden Grouper Voyage!!!!! IFFAA Athletes only this Trip! Through much PAIN, Findictive II (2.0) shows up at City Dock, Capt. Mike selected the Finest Crew in in the WORLD for this SPECIAL EVENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As you would expect another Fine Group of Athletes was Assembled for this VERY Special trip with Capt. Mikey, only the finest ATHLETES were selected and fully VETTED for this ADVENTURE!!!!!!!!!!!! Center Capt. Mikey checking out his new equipment before we run off shore. With Mikes Old boat we always check to make sure the boat was still there and floating!!!!!!!
Weather Cooperated and off we went in Search of Mr. Grouper!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lite wind, calm seas temps in the 80 s we head west, a little chop left from Mon?????? Mikes new Contender VERY comfortable, head actually works???????? (but no one is allowed to use it except the capt.) both engines run smooth no pumping the ball, every time we start up, seats don t fall down, plenty of room for all our gear that Mikey claims we don t need?????? What a treat!!!!!!!! A fight does break out of the head who gets the bean bags!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FederalReserveJoe heard First Cruise thought he was invited on a Free Cruise Like Carnival????????????? Capt. Mike has to inform him this is a FISHING BOAT not a cruise ship???????? Bankers just never get over, preferential treatment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ride out is GREAT!!!!! Smooth & DRY!!!!!!!!!! First few miles had some chop but laid down as we went west. New boat so comfortable, plenty of room, MUCH FASTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We get to Mike s first spot good mark?????? Down go the baits!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stallion using the largest HOOK Made in FL????????? Although IFFAA approved CrankyKen doesn t like the entertainment so he borrows Capt. Mikes hat and ask FreshWaterFred to stop telling NY Stories?
Took awhile but first SLOB on the NEW BOAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Findictive 2.0 is on the score board with a 30 red grouper caught by one of our finest Athletes who will remain nameless!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We pick a few more keepers (that we throw back) along with a few TB red grouper!!!!!!!!!! Capt. Mikey gets impatient and moves on tries another spot, nothing???? Decides to change area s. We drag the anchor a few miles and Mike finds a mark he really likes!
WallEye hears change area he runs for his sandwich!!!!! Claim he got his wife up at 4am to make this sandwich just the way he likes it. Have to eat every bite or she will KILL ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WallEye says he also needs strength to bring in those BIG GROUPER!!!!!!!!!!!! Here come the SLOBS!!!!!! One after another big grouper go on the deck, very light bite but all nice fat big fish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cooler fills up fast, 2 and 3 on at a time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We get our limit early!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Everyone wants to go snapper fishing. Capt. Mike, decides water too clear for snapper, have a few Porgy spots near by, the ATHLETES jump on that one!!!!!!! We hate it when Capt. Mikey is right!!!!!!!!!!!! Put porgies and a few snapper in the cooler!!
Get a bunch of Pan fish and decide to head for Naples!!!!!!!! Ride back like being in your living room comfortable and dry!!! Another fight over the bean bags but Mike restores order on the VESSEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The founders of Pepto Bismo built this house in Port Royal!!! Had to get away from the winters in Norwich NY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Capt. Mike backs Findictive 2.0 into his slip with his expensive sound system BLASTING We Are The Champions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The other charter Capt. loved it!!!!!! Capt. Mike was lucky to have the ATHLETES today to break in his new boat, could have had amateurs????????????
