Effective July 1, 1997 the Texas Animal Health Commission requires all equine (horses, donkeys, mules and ponies) participating in any gathering of equine (trail rides, shows, fairs, competitions and parades) to have had a negative EIA (Coggins) test within the past 12 months. Participants with equine must be prepared to present the VS 10-11 EIA test form for each equine entry. DATE OF PARADE: Saturday, September 12, 2015 GENERAL INFORMATION FOR THE WEST TEXAS FAIR & RODEO PARADE PLEASE STAY OFF PRIVATE PROPERTY UNLESS YOU HAVE PERMISSION. THE STREETS ARE OURS TO USE. STAGING TIME: All units should be in place by 9:30 a.m., as the parade will be televised. PARADE ROUTE: The parade proceeds under the underpass North on Pine to N. 6 th, West one block to Cypress. South on Cypress to First Street, East on First to Pine back under the underpass. Disband in the 200 & 300 block of Chestnut continue South & West. Follow the parade marshals directions and maintain a 30 foot space between units. Please do not cross the parade route once the parade is underway. TICKETS: Each parade participant will be issued a West Texas Fair ticket. One person from each unit must retrieve the tickets and parade number from the marshal in your area. FIRST AID: A Metro Care Ambulance will be located at the corner of Pine and N. 1 st Street (N.E. corner) to administer first aid if needed. We are grateful to Metro Care Ambulance for providing this service. SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR PARADE PARTICIPANTS: 1. Motorcycles, four-wheelers and bicycle riders should be extremely caution around horse groups. 2. All music, drum cadence, sirens, bands or other loud noises should cease under the under- passes. 3. Float drivers should note that the under-passes used are only 13 3 high. Thus any float or vehicle over 13 will enter the parade at N. 1 st and Pine Streets from the East and will leave the parade at the same location. 4. Fire trucks must refrain from shooting water from trucks during the parade. When streets become wet the horse units find footing very dangerous. 5. Portable toilets are located in the staging area.
VIP S AND WALKING UNITS Your unit should report to STACY BRYAN, the marshal for your section. She will be located at 300 OAK STREET and she will place your parade number on your entry. MILITARY UNITS Your unit should report to STACY BRYAN, the marshal for your section. She will be located at 3 RD AND PECAN and she will issue your parade number for the lead unit of your entry. DECORATED FLOATS STAGING TIME: All Decorated Floats MUST be in place to be judged by 8:30 a.m. Your unit should report to CAROLINE KREITLER the marshal for your section. She will be located at S. 3 rd & Cherry. Enter South 3 rd from Treadaway where you will pick up your packet at the old courthouse picnic table East side of the old Courthouse. ANTIQUE TRACTORS STAGING TIME: All units should be in place by 9:00 a.m. Your unit should report to RICKIE JOHNSON, the marshal for your section. He will be located at S. 6 th & Oak. You may use 6 th Street, East of Oak & the Southwest parking lot to park and unload. He will issue your parade number. Please place your Number on Right Front. BANDS Your unit should report to KATHY GRUBB, the marshal for your section. She will be located at the 300 block of Chestnut and will issue your parade number. Please place Number on Right Front. This is a marching parade. Bands should NOT stop to play a song during the parade. Buses should drop off band members on the West side of the Courthouse, 300 block of Chestnut. Then proceed to the Enterprise Building parking lot at 4 th and Sycamore. After the Parade, band members will return to buses at this parking lot to disburse. NOTE: DO NOT HAVE BAND PLAYING WHILE GOING THROUGH UNDERPASS. TROPHIES CAN BE PICKED UP AT THE EXPO CENTER OFFICE AT A LATER DATE.

She will be located at South 7 th & China. PLEASE WAIT TO BE ESCORTED TO THE PARADE ROUTE.. Riding Clubs must have at least 6 riders to be judged. COGGINS TEST REQUIREMENT (STATE REGULATION) All Equine Units must have a negative Coggins test paper. These papers could be checked at staging area. Papers should include name, number, date of test and name of laboratory. PARADE ROUTE: The parade proceeds under the underpass North on Pine to N. 6 th, West one block to Cypress. South on Cypress to First Street, East on First to Pine back under the underpass. Disband in the 200 & 300 block of Chestnut continue South & West. Green broke or unmanageable horses should not be entered in the parade. 5. Riding Clubs will be judged by AASP & RC RULES.
ALL ENTRIES IN THE PARADE ARE EXPECTED TO FOLLOW THE PARADE ROUTE AS PLANNED. JUST LISTEN TO THE DIRECTIONS GIVEN BY THE PARADE MARSHALS. ANY DEVIATION BY ANY UNIT WILL CAUSE SERIOUS PROBLEMS WITH THE CITY TRAFFIC. THEY HAVE BEEN MOST GENEROUS IN PROVIDING PERSONNEL TO HELP MOVE THE VARIOUS UNITS THROUGH MAJOR INTERSECTIONS AND WE MUST BE RESPONSIVE ON OUR PART. THANKS FOR YOUR COOPERATION. VERY IMPORTANT!!!! PLEASE NOTE AND OBSERVE NO ITEMS INCLUDING CANDY, GUM, BUTTONS, T-SHIRTS, IDENTIFICATION CARDS, ETC., ARE TO BE TOSSED, THROWN OR HANDED OUT DURING THE PARADE BY ANY PARADE PARTICIPANT OR FROM ANY MOVING VEHICLE. THIS RULE IS IN EFFECT TO PREVENT SMALL CHILDREN FROM DARTING OUT IN FRONT OF ANY PARADE UNIT. PARADE MARSHALS AND POLICE HAVE BEEN INSTRUCTED TO ENFORCE THIS REGULATION. ONCE ANY UNIT HAS ENTERED THE PARADE NO ONE IS PERMITTED TO BOARD OR DISMOUNT THAT UNIT. THIS IS ESPECIALLY DIRECTED TO THOSE PERSONS WHO WISH TO PASS OUT CARDS OR ANNOUNCEMENTS. SPECIAL INFORMATION CONCERNING DISPERSEMENT AREAS 1. All Equine units should continue SOUTH on CHESTNUT to 7 th back EAST on 7 th to CHINA 2. Bands should turn WEST at CHESTNUT and SOUTH 4 TH STREETS. Then continue to SYCAMORE STREET where buses are located. Leave the area going WEST or SOUTH. 3. Walking Units CONTINUE SOUTH on CHESTNUT Street to SOUTH 4 TH STREET, turn WEST to SYCAMORE. Private cars should be parked there. Leave the area going either WEST or SOUTH. 4. Decorated Floats continue SOUTH on CHESTNUT to SOUTH 7 TH. 5. Antique Cars, Motorcycles, Three Wheelers and Bicycles follow the same route as the floats. 6. Military Units traveling in buses should continue SOUTH on CHESTNUT STREET to SOUTH 6 TH. Busses will be pared on lot SOUTH 6 TH and CHESTNUT. Leave the area going SOUTH or WEST. 7. VIP personal cars should be parked on the NORTH parking lot of Enterprise Building. Parade units will return VIP s to that location. Please depart the area by going to the WEST or SOUTH.
