WELCOME TO RACE WEEKEND! Dear Race Fan, Please join us and be our guest in helping us celebrate the 43rd Anniversary of the Oktoberfest Race Weekend. It is our goal to provide area race fans and racers one of the finest racing events in the upper Midwest to be a part of. We hope that you go home with many memories, as well as anticipation for the 44th Oktoberfest next year. If you have been a part of the Oktoberfest weekend before, you are likely familiar with the four day format. Over the years, Fest has grown from a two day race event to three, and more recently to four days. Further, fans are invited to stay with us in the popular camper village for up to a week, starting on Monday October 1st through Monday, October 8th. Thank you goes out to all of you whom have attended and competed over the years at this annual event. It is all of you who help make the event so fun for everyone. If you will be returning this year, you again will see several groups that help us organize and put on the event. The West Salem Youth Hockey, 4-H Youth Group, Tornado Youth Hockey, the La Crosse Agricultural Society, a Local Fast Pitch Softball Team, Youth Church Groups and the Knights of Columbus, plus others that are here to make the event run smooth for all, and help create great memories. On behalf of them and the staff and management of La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway, THANK YOU. If you have not been to Oktoberfest, ask your racing friends about it. Or, better yet, just take that road trip for the weekend. Enjoy the Racing, the Foods, the Festive atmosphere, the fall colors, the Racing Fraternity and all of the FUN! Experience Oktoberfest it is a racing event like no other! Sincerely, Speedway Staff 2012 TICKET PRICES General Admission Single Day General Admission Tickets Thurs. Fri. Sat. Sun. 14 EIGHTEEN DIFFERENT DIVISIONS TO HIGHLIGHT THE 43rd OKTOBERFEST ASA Midwest Tour Super Late Models The ASA Midwest Tour cars used are a touring series style car made specifically for racing short tracks, built with high-performance suspension parts and engines (A.K.A. Super Late Model ). This division is run similar to the old ARTGO series that competed in the 80 s and 90 s throughout the region. The rules package is designed to meet in the middle, allowing drivers throughout the region to make minimal to no changes to their cars in order to race. They exclusively race on Hoosier Racing tires. The Midwest Tour competes at tracks in Wisconsin, Michigan, Iowa, Minnesota and Indiana. 2012 Series Champion to be decided Sunday at FEST. Big-8 Late Models This series has become very popular throughout Wisconsin. It is based on a restricted late model rule book, and these cars may be seen racing at area home tracks such as Rockford, LaCrosse, Jefferson, Columbus, Madison, Dells, WIR, and Elko. Tires are exclusively Goodyear 8 treaded tires, and the engines are based on cast iron heads and block. This class gives the weekly short track warrior a chance to race specials at other tracks without interfering with their home track weekly racing schedule. 2012 Series Champion to be decided Saturday at FEST. ASA Midwest Trucks The ASA Midwest Truck Series was originally a sister series to the Mid- American Stock Cars. Eventually the series was taken over by the USST Sanction, and in late 2009 the American Speed Association sanction took over the series. The engine rules are the same as the stock cars, and they also run Hoosier tires. The trucks are built on full-size GM or Ford frames, with a 112 minimum wheelbase. Aftermarket truck bodies of Ford, Chevrolet, Dodge and Toyota are permitted. The Series competes primarily in Wisconsin, and also has events in Minnesota, Michigan and Illinois. 2012 Series Champion to be decided Sunday at FEST. Area Sportsmen The Area Sportsmen starts with O.E.M. stock-type bodies, stubs and frames, with a minimum wheelbase of 108. You may see many of these as a middle support class at short tracks in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Illinois. The Area Sportsmen compete on treaded 8 wide racing tires. Bandits - 4 Cylinder compact cars, very similar to Hornets, with full roll cages. However, aftermarket racing products are allowed for performance. The Bandits could be referred to as a Mini-Sportsmen car. They are a popular and affordable racing division throughout Wisconsin s race tracks. Dick Trickle 99 Super Late Models - The Super Late Models compete on Friday Night. These are similar to the cars you may see in The Futures or in the ASA Midwest Tour. They are based on the ARTGO rules from the late 1990 s. Weight may vary from 2750 to 2850 pounds. They run on Hoosier race tires, and are typically seen competing weekly at tracks like Grundy, Illiana, Norway, Raceway Park, Slinger, Marshfield or Wisconsin International. The unique part of the Trickle 99 is the race format. The race is split up into three 33 lap segments with a different lineup format for each segment. Overall winner is the one with the most scored points. Double-O The Double-O is one of the most exciting and unique races seen in short track racing. The cars line-up on both the ¼ mile and 5/8 mile tracks and the race is a standing start. The cars switch tracks on alternating laps making an exciting transition at the start / finish line! The race is open to any full-frame car with roll-bars that is already eligible for competition during the weekend. Enduro The Enduro is a wild and fun race of any 4 cylinder cars with a maximum wheelbase of 103, complete with stock body, frame, and suspension. 4 Cylinder Mini-Vans are also allowed to compete. This an inexpensive way to try your hand at the fun of racing! No Yellow Flags... a Jam truck is used to push disabled cars out of the way. Each car must provide a line scorer in the grandstands to follow & score the laps they complete. The Futures Super Late Models: The Futures is a race for up and coming drivers only. Cars competing are Super Late Models seen at tracks throughout Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, etc. based on ARTGO Rules from the late 1990 s. To be eligible to race in the Futures, drivers must be under age 30 -OR- have never run in a previous Oktoberfest 100 Feature Championship Race. It s a great opportunity for young talent to try their hand at Oktoberfest Racing. Hornets - Any 3 or 4 Cylinder compact car, with a Maximum wheelbase of 103. The cars are strictly stock with minimal alterations made for Safety. They race many times per season at the LaCrosse Speedway and provide a fun and inexpensive way for a fan to try their hand at racing!
