Volume 10 General Managers Corner Page 2 It s the beginning of the Holiday season! I hope everyone will enjoy the Halloween spectacular and has marked their calendars for the Thanksgiving feast on November 24th. The weather has been very pleasant after what seemed like a long hot summer. The golf course is in great shape so now is the time to enjoy the challenge of the course. Brianne Langdon Membership Director for Josh and his crew. We are also negotiating a lease of new golf carts. e) erosion blangdon@harborlakesgc.com areas around the lake on #14. p) 817-578-8600 The good news is the effluent connection project is almost finished. The salt content of Lake Granbury has made it very challenging to grow grass during high stress times for turf. We are optimistic that the use of effluent will lead to healthier turf. Of course, with all the improved turf, we have to have something to cut it with. We are currently negotiating for new maintenance equipment As usual, it s the time of the year to start some projects. We are going to be cleaning up #14 fairway and putting down sod, finish the remaining bunkers that need new sand, and also work on some I hope you ll stop by to check our progress, have lunch or dinner, and play some golf! Blair Kline General Manager MEMBER SPOTLIGHT John and Debbie Quilty John and Debbie joined in May 2006. They enjoy playing golf and watching the Kansas Jayhawks basketball (not Kansas State). Volume 10 Membership Minute Page 3 Increasing our membership this holiday season is imperative to the future success of the club. I have been passing out information to local businesses as well as your referrals and guests to help create more buzz in the community about the wonderful club we have! With the holiday season quickly approaching, what better gift to give friends, family, colleagues or neighbors? If you have a potential member in mind, please let me know so we can work together to get them in. The club has been creating and hosting more events for the fall so that you can enjoy your membership. Make sure you check the calendar to see what we have going on for the rest of the year. The Social Committee is still going strong. Karen has taken over leadership of that group so I can focus on re-creating our Membership Committee. We try to get feedback from the Social group as well as members throughout the club on ways to improve the social setting and parties. One thing we hear most often is, There just aren t a lot of people in the club all the time. We want to walk in and see all of our friends. Our challenge for the members is to INVITE/BRING your friends to the club with you!! The more people you bring Brianne Langdon Membership Director by my office, give me a call, or send me e-mail. e) blangdon@harborlakesgc.com Brianne Langdon Membership Director p) e) blangdon@harborlakesgc.com 817-578-8600 p) 817-578-8600 Our little along, the more fun you will have and then there will start to be more and more people in the club more frequently. Membership Committee I mentioned last month that we want to renew the membership committee and are looking for volunteers to serve. Some of the responsibilities may include: playing golf with a potential member, helping host a membership happy hour, etc... You can do as much or as little as you d like to do. We are looking for a good mix of members from many different groups of people and all membership categories. (There are perks to being on the committee as well! Contact me to find out what they are!) I hope to have a new committee ready for the beginning of 2012. My door is always open, so if you need something, have a recommendation or want to refer a new member, please stop TURF TALK Ch R1018 around here from a maintenance standpoint. We are done overseeding and the course is ready to bed down for winter. We will soon be changing gears as the grass begins to go dormant. We have several tasks ahead of us this winter like trimming trees, drainage, landscape renovations and, of course more work on the sand traps. If you have not put out your winter fertilizer and pre-emerge, you should do so as soon as possible so that it has time to become effective before the grass goes dormant and the winter weeds start to germinate. Just because your grass may go dormant doesn t mean that it will not need fertilizer during the cold months. The grass roots continue to live and grow during the winter and during warmer times they will use up any nutrient reserves that the grass had stored up in the fall. Keeping your lawn fertilized will help it come back stronger in the spring. As always, please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have about what is going on with the course or with any questions you may have about your home lawn or landscaping. Josh Thompson Superintendent

Volume 10 EVENTS CORNER Dates for hosting holiday parties are booking up quickly, so make sure you contact me ASAP if you want to host an event for your business or pleasure this holiday season! Big or small, we can happily accommodate your needs. The new Fine Dining Club has been very well received! The Social Committee is excited to announce the theme for the 2011 New Year s Eve party: Midnight Masquerade: Bling in the New Year! The dress code will be dressy-casual (jeans are fine), but feel free to get as dressed up as you d like. This party is all about you and your friends having a great Midnight Masquerade: Bling in the New Year Brianne Langdon time! Be on the look out for more details come soon. Membership Director e) blangdon@harborlakesgc.com Sincerely, Karen Hernandez p) khernandez@harborlakesgc.com 817-578-8600 Our little FOOD AND BEVERAGE TABLE Mark your calendar for Tuesday, December 6th for the Members Only Christmas Party! This is a time to reflect on the year, spend time with your family, and eat great food! Come out this month and celebrate Thanksgiving at the club with your family. We have an excellent array of food for the buffet. Here is one dish you can expect to see this year, this is my favorite recipe for green bean casserole. Green Bean Casserole 1/3 stick butter 1/2 cup diced onions 1/2 cup sliced fresh mushrooms 2 cups sliced green beans 3 cups chicken broth 1 (10 3/4-ounce) can cream of mushroom soup 1 (2.8-ounce) can French-fried onion rings 1 cup grated Cheddar Page 4 Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Melt the butter in a large skillet. Sauté the onions and mushrooms in the butter. Boil green beans in chicken broth for 10 minutes and drain. Add the green beans, mushroom soup, onion rings, and House Seasoning, to taste, to the onion mixture. Stir well. Pour into a greased 1 1/2-quart baking dish. Bake for 20 minutes, then top the casserole with the Cheddar and bake for 10 minutes longer, or until the casserole is hot and cheese is melted. Don t forget about our monthly specials listed on page 6 and as always let me know if you have any concerns, suggestions, or just need a quick recipe. I will be happy to help. Your input is what makes your club better! See you around the club, Chef Adam
