ASSEMBLING AND PACKING INSTRUCTIONS RedMan Training Gear Train realistically and you train to survive. RedMan Training Gear empowers law enforcement, corrections, military and security professionals to train harder and more realistically than any other gear on the market. In this guide, we will review all the components of the gear, how to put it on, and how to clean and pack your new gear.

XP TRADITIONAL HEAD On the headgear there are four points of attachment. The XP Traditional Head is worn by the Instructor and the Student. It s designed only to reduce the risk of injury from infrequent and accidental light blunt force. It comes in several parts: the Foam Head and Face Cage plus the Throat Guard for instructors. Thread each strap through the nearest hole, wrap around the cage and engage the Velcro. Push the straps through the headgear holes nearest the Throat Guard for threading back the Velcro On the bottom of this gear is the Instructor s Throat Guard. Pull each strap snug and then engage the Velcro. 2

XP TRADITIONAL HEAD Once you have the equipment together, put the mouth guard in place, put on the safety glasses, open the back of the head as wide as possible. Open the back of the head as wide as possible, lead with the chin and put the headgear on. For proper fit, the chin should fit in the contoured chin pad and ears should fit in the ear openings. The XP Traditional Head is worn by the Instructor and the Student. It s designed only to reduce the risk of injury from infrequent and accidental light blunt force. After making these adjustments, pull the headgear strap snugly to close the gap. 3

D2 DEFENSIVE TACTICS HEAD The D2 Defensive Tactics headgear can be worn in place of the Traditional Head Instructor and the Student. It s designed only to reduce the risk of injury from infrequent and accidental light blunt force. Attach the D2 Cage to the D2 head by lining up the D2 cage to the face opening on the D2 head. Take the 3 velcro straps and pull them through the holes to wrap around for a secure fit. If you are an instructor, attach the XP or WDS throat guard to the head. Once you have the equipment together, put the mouth guard in place, put on the safety glasses, open the back of the head as wide as possible, lead with the chin and put the headgear on. For proper fit, the chin should fit in the contoured chin pad and ears should fit in the ear openings. After making these adjustments, pull the headgear strap snugly to close the gap. 4

INSTRUCTOR UPPER BODY The XP Body Guard comes in two pieces: the front and the back. The first step is to attach the front and back pieces by attaching the straps at the shoulder. Pull the Body Guard over the head. Adjust it so the front trauma shield is centered over the chest. Attach and secure the wings in the back with the center strap and fasteners. Place the back of the Body Guard over the wings and securely attach the two remaining parallel straps. 5

SHOULDER GUARDS Place the Shoulder Guard in a comfortable position, adjust the straps, and engage the Velcro The shoulder guards fit in the gap between front and back of Body Guard. To attach the Shoulder Guards, open the strap that attaches the two Body Guard pieces. Attach the strap under the armpit. Once this is in place, many instructors keep this together and only take it apart for storage. 6

XP ARM GUARDS The shoulder guards fit in the gap between front and back of Body Guard. The arm slides into the Arm Guard. Fingers fit comfortably in the grip. Engage straps and adjust to create a snug fit. Finger grips and straps keep Arm Guards secure during active simulations. 7

LOWER BODY-CALF GUARDS It is very important to remember throughout that the Velcro should be fully engaged during use. Velcro is unfastened by grabbing onto the tab to peel the Velcro sections apart. The Calf Guard can be worn high or low depending on the simulation training being conducted. 8

LOWER LEG GUARDS Lower Leg Guards fit right over the shin, knee and lower thigh. Pull the tabs when releasing the straps Velcro on the straps must be fully engaged at the three points of attachment. 9

GUARD HARNESS THIGH GUARD AND HARNESS Slip the harness over the shoulders the same way one would put on a vest. Adjust it for sizing and fasten the belt buckles just under the rib cage. If the suspenders are too tight or too loose, adjust them by slipping the belt through one of the two other loops in the back strap. THIGH GUARDS There are right and left Thigh Guards, so make sure to put the right one on the right leg. Place the Thigh Guard so the top-most strap is on the hip and the knee fits snugly into the contoured area. Make sure that the RedMan logo is right over the tip of the knee. Engage the Velcro, then thread the top strap around the belt and pull it tightly down on the leg. It s going to attach underneath the existing Velcro so it doesn t flap around. 10

REAR GUARD AND LOWER ABDOMINAL PAD Rear Guard. Lower Abdominal Pad, which must be worn over additional groin protection Rear Guard and Lower Abdominal Pad are a combination of two pieces of equipment. Attach the Lower Abdominal Pad to the Rear Guard by feeding the crossed straps on the bottom of the Rear Guard. Attach the Lower Abdominal Pad to the Rear Guard by feeding the crossed straps on the bottom of the Rear Guard through the loop of the Lower Abdominal Pad. Place the Rear Guard over the buttocks and temporarily fasten the waist strap. Pull the Lower Abdominal Pad up between the legs and position it over the groin and abdominal area. Open the Rear Guard waist strap and fasten it around the top of the Lower Abdominal Pad and waist as shown. Adjust all straps for a secure fit. Once you have the equipment together, it stays together which means it can be stored together. 11

PACKING YOUR GEAR REDMAN XP SUIT RedMan Training Gear is the only gear on the market that can be easily sanitized between users. It s really simple. Carefully wipe away any dirt, blood, or other contaminants. It s important to correctly clean and store your gear. If repairs are needed, a repair kit is included. You can fix a tear right in the field. Spray thoroughly and leave wet for 10 minutes. Wipe clean, then air dry. Now that we have just cleaned the gear, it s time to pack and store. Let s begin with the Thigh Guard. Fold the Velcro back over itself as shown... we call this back-strapping the gear. It s important that you back strap all your gear. Please note that you should not wrap the Velcro around the gear because it will stretch out the Velcro and damage the foam in storage. 12

PACKING YOUR GEAR After you have back-strapped the thigh guard, place it with the Velcro face down. Next, you ll need to nest the lower leg into the thigh guard. Fit the arm guard into the lower leg, placing the elbow into the knee. After the arm guard is in place, nest the calf guard in the arm guard. 13

PACKING YOUR GEAR Fold back the thigh guard over the top to enclose nested products as shown. Fasten the Velcro as loose as possible to avoid pressure and tension on the foam and elastic. Repeat these steps for the other side of the suit. 14

PACKING YOUR GEAR Place the other side of the body guard with the head in the other side of the bag. Add the nested thigh guards to both sides Be careful to have the top of the body guard facing center. Now that you have nested the gear, let s put it in the equipment bag. Place the back plate of the body guard in one side of the equipment bag. 15

PACKING YOUR GEAR Place the nested Shoulder guard toward the center of the bag. The rear guard and the lower abdominal pad are the last products to be packed. Leave them attached and place across all other products. There should be room in the bag for some additional accessories and it should zip easily. Be sure to store the gear in a cool dry place. 16
