Referee Clinics we will be booking two other referee clinics, likely at UBC and SFU. Dates and times to be confirmed once these have been set up. Commissioner Training this will be mandatory for two people from each club for the 2017 Spring Flag season. This will likely run in conjunction with one of the Referee Clinics. 3
Frequently Asked Questions Q: Does our club need to order our jerseys through Skyline? A: There are two answers to this question: If your club/team is going to Kelowna to participate in the Provincial Championships then the answer is yes, you must order jerseys through Skyline. Teams or players without the sponsored jerseys will not be allowed to play in the Championships If your club/team is NOT going to Kelowna and is only going to play in the VMFL 6 Regular Season games you are not required to have Skyline supplied jerseys. HOWEVER, your team must have a set of home and away jerseys. The only requirement of a team jersey is that they match. You need to have two jerseys (ie red and black) so that you can switch if you re playing against a team that has the same coloured jersey. Q: When will the schedule for the VMFL regular season games be sent out? A: The schedule for Week 1 (April 23) will be posted by April 14. All subsequent weeks will be posted by the Wednesday morning after the jamboree. IMPORTANT If you know your team is not going to be able to participate in the next jamboree, please email both Kevin and Kari by the Monday evening before the jamboree. This will allow time to adjust the schedule. If we are not notified and your team is built into the schedule, the games you do not attend will count as losses. Q: How are the schedules built and why would I play the same team more than once in the season? A: The schedule for Week 1 is based on a randomized pool and because of that there are often mismatched teams and lopsided results. For Weeks 2-6 the results are calculated and teams with similar records are put into a pool to play. This is done to make sure kids have a good opportunity to experience some successes. You may have a similar record as 3 or 4 other teams and in that case, you will play them on more than one week. Q: Do our teams have to participate in the Provincial Championship in Kelowna? A: No, teams do not have to register to participate in the Championship, although many of the players and families look forward to the event each year. Q: Are girls allowed to move out of their age division. A: Yes, girls are allowed to move down one (1) age division if they are playing on a mixed team. A: Yes, an all girls team can move down up to two age divisions and the highest age grouping they will be placed in is U14. When Week 1 results are reviewed, an all girls team may be re-assigned to a new age group at the discretion of the VMFL Executive. Q: What certifications do Spring Flag coaches need to have for the 2017 Season: A: All coaches must have an NCCP Number and have successfully completed the Making Ethical Decisions on-line course. 4

2017 Flag ORDER FORM Instructions Key Dates: The last day to order for the VMFL/VCFL regular season is March 1, 2017. (Clubs please order at least 10% extra jerseys per size to accommodate late registrations). The last day to order for the Championships is April 22, 2017. There are no exceptions for any jersey orders after April 22, 2017. All players must a sponsor jersey in order to compete at the Flag Championships in Kelowna.
