WHITE BELT(novice) - RED/ORANGE(9th/8th Kyu) Training time: Minimum 3 months, training twice weekly. 1. Gedanbarai x 3 forward/turn. 2. Ageuke x 3 forward/turn. 3. Sotouke x 3 forward/turn. 4. Kata must be performed without mistake; using good spirit, proper timing and correct kime. Continulation is also an important factor in Kata. Kihon Kata for 9th Kyu, Heian Shodan for 8th Kyu Sanbon Kumite Offence techniques must be accurately addressed to the target area. Defence techniques must be shown to be effective before counter attacks are delivered. All offence attacks and defence counters must be delivered with proper timing/distance and kime using kiai. All the Kumite techniques are trained both starting with the left and starting with the right sides in offence and in defence.but for examination purposes start with left side first. The first 3 gradings are essentially basic in content, but students must demonstrate an upgrading of quality in stance, power and effort.
