The Border Blades Figure Skating Club presents the 7 th Annual Purpur Arena 1122 7 th Avenue South Grand Forks, ND 58201 Snowplow Sam through LTS Free Skate 6 Saturday, December 2 nd, 2017

Border Blades Figure Skating Club 7 th Annual Holiday Classic Basic Skills Competition Saturday, December 2 nd, 2017 Purpur Arena 1122 7 th Ave South Grand Forks, ND 58201 ELIGIBILITY RULES FOR PARTICIPANTS The competition is open to ALL skaters who are current eligible (ER 1.00) members of either the Learn to Skate USA program and those who are full members of U.S. Figure Skating. Members of other organizations are eligible to compete but must be registered with Learn to Skate USA or a member club. There will be no more than six competitors maximum in an event and all six should receive an award. Eligibility and Test Requirements: Eligibility will be based on skill level as of closing date of entries. All Snowplow Sam and Basic Skills 1-6 skaters must skate at highest level passed or one level higher and NO official U.S. Figure Skating tests may have been passed, including Moves in the Field or individual dances. For the Pre-Free Skate, Free Skate 1-6, Test Track and Well Balanced levels, eligibility will be based only upon highest free skate test level passed (Moves in the Field test level will not determine skater s competitive level). Skaters may skate at highest level passed OR one level higher, but not both levels in the same event during the same competition. Skaters may not compete at more than one level in the same type event at the same competition. It is very important to the success of the competition that skaters are placed in the correct divisions. If, for whatever reason, the Local Organizing Committee discovers that a skater has been placed in a category that is below his/her class level, the chairman and referee will have the option to move the skater into the proper division, even if this has to be done the day of the competition. This will ensure that every event is as fair as possible to the competitors. It is an ethical violation for coaches to sandbag an event. ENTRIES AND FEES: Entries will be submitted online. Online entries can be submitted at www.borderblades.org and must be submitted by 11:59pm on November 3, 2017. Entry fees are per person, U.S. dollars. The first event is $50 and second event is $20. NO refunds after closing date unless event is canceled by Border Blades FSC. Late entries will be accepted only if there are spots available and at the discretion of the organizers. An additional $50 fee will be assessed for late entries. AWARDS: All events will be final rounds. Everyone will receive a 1 st, 2 nd, or 3 rd place medal. ALL awards will be given out at the awards table after event results are posted. SCHEDULE OF EVENTS: The schedule/link to schedule will be posted on the Border Blades website (www.borderblades.org). The main form of communication for the competition will be the website borderblades.org. PRACTICE ICE: Practice ice will be available before the competition. Sign up will be online once the schedule is posted. Specific times will be announced when the schedule is posted. A maximum of 25 skaters will be allowed on the ice. Practice ice may be purchased for $20 per session on a first come first served basis. MUSIC: The music for all program with music and free skate events must be provided on CD s by the skater. CD s should be clearly marked with the name of the skater, event entered and length of music (not skating time). Competition music is to be turned in at the time of registration. Music can be picked up at the registration table after the skater s event. PHOTOGRAPHS: Photographs will be taken of all groups after event results are posted. Individual photographs are also available after the group photo. Photos will be available for purchase at the rink. CONCESSIONS: A concession stand will be available during the competition.

LIABILITY: U.S. Figure Skating, Border Blades FSC, and Purpur Arena accept no responsibility for injury or damage sustained by any participant in this competition. This is in accordance with Rule 1600 of the official U.S. Figure Skating Rulebook. REGISTRATION DESK: The Holiday Classic Competition is scheduled for December 2 nd, 2017. Registration will be at the entrance of the Purpur Arena, 1122 7 th Avenue South, Grand Forks, ND 58201. An event schedule with more information will be emailed prior to the competition.
