Junior Marquan Botley led the team in scoring (13.5 ppg) and assists (3.9 apg) last season. He was named to the C-USA All- Freshman Team at the end of the 2013-14 season. FAU defeated St. Thomas 75-58 in an exhibition game on Nov. 5. Tonight s game marks a return to the mitten for both FAU head coach Michael Curry, who was both a player and coach for the Detroit Pistons and FAU assistant coach Eric Snow, who won Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year for the Spartans in 1995. from last season. Auburn transfer Ronald Delph is expected to help make up the deficit on the boards. The seven-footer from Winter Haven will be eligible for the second semester. Clemson transfer Adonis Filer is eligible at the start of the season after sitting out last year. Filer scored 17 points in the exhibition win over St. Thomas. Senior guard Jackson Trapp is C-USA s leading returner in minutes played from last season, when he averaged 33.8 minutes per game. Trapp is also 321 points away from becoming the 12th 1,000-point scorer in school history. The Owls face a difficult schedule. All but three games during the months of November and December take place away from home. FAU opens the regular season at perennial Big 10 powerhouse Michigan State on November 13. On December 16, FAU will play SEC member Tennessee. The Owls play in-state foe and ACC power Florida State University in Sunrise on December 19 as part of the Orange Bowl Classic. FAU returns 72 percent of their scoring and 65 percent of their assists from last season, but only 43 percent of their rebounding Solomon Poole was able to join the Owls on the court in the middle of last season and immediately contributed, scoring 23 points in his first game of the season vs. Stetson. Freshman Jeantal Cylla was named the Small Schools Player of the Year as a junior and averaged 26 points and 11.2 rebounds as a senior. He led FAU with 19 points in the exhibition win over St. Thomas Jesse Hill averaged 10.9 points and 4.8 rebounds per game as a junior. Connor Shorten is a skilled big man who is known for his energy and athleticism. Shorten played for the nationally renowned program at St. Benedict s Prep. #Orange Bowl Classic *C-USA game

FAU Head Coach Michael Curry Record at FAU: 9-20 Second Season Michael Curry was named FAU head men s basketball coach on April 7, 2014. Curry, who played for seven NBA teams during an 11-year career and also previously served as head coach of the Detroit Pistons, is the eighth coach in FAU program history. On behalf of the Florida Atlantic University community, I am thrilled to welcome Michael and his wife Katrina to the FAU family, said FAU President John Kelly. His background as a player and coach is impressive, as is his experience as a leader off the basketball court. I have no doubt that our basketball program is on the verge of tremendous success under Michael s direction. Curry brings to FAU more than 20 years of basketball experience as a coach, player and front-office execu-tive. Immediately prior to FAU, he served as associversity, Curry served as the team s captain collegiate star at Georgia Southern Uniate head coach (2010-13) for the Philadelphia 76ers, from 1988-90 and has continued to be heavily where he was part of Doug Collins staff. Curry, who involved with Georgia Southern. He joined the Pistons organization after a two-year stint at the NBA, where he served as vice president, player development for the NBA Development League and later as vice president of basketball operations. He is also a former president and vice president of the National Basketball Players Association s Executive Board. Michael brings an extraordinary set of professional experiences to our university, said Director of Athletics Pat Chun. Most importantly, he has a profound understanding of the purpose of intercollegiate athletics. He cares about the development of student-athletes academically, athletically and socially. Michael will create a culture of leadership and excellence in our program as well as build the family atmosphere that our team, university and community desire. Michael s passion for teaching, mentoring and coaching will carry our program to new heights. FAU is Curry s his first collegiate head coaching stop. In his initial class, Curry was able to sign a class that included C. J. Turman and Clemson transfer Adonis Filer. inducted into the Georgia Southern Hall of Fame in 2001, earned the key to the City his jersey retired in 2006 and has served on the Georgia Southern Foundation Board of Trustees since 2006. The gym at Curry s High School, Glenn Hills, was named in his honor in 2014. In 2015, he was inducted into the Augusta City Classic Hall of Fame. Curry earned his Master of Science in recreation, parks and sports leadership from Virginia Commonwealth University and his bachelor s degree in business administration/finance from Georgia Southern.
