TAAF YOUTH TRACK AND FIELD PARENT INFORMATION 2018 Letter to Parents Dear Parents and Participants, The City of La Porte Parks and Recreation Department welcomes you to the TAAF Youth Track Program! A goal of the City of La Porte Parks and Recreation Department is for all youth sports participants, both parents and children, to have an enjoyable sporting experience. Skill development is the main component of all Parks and Recreation Youth Sports. Of course, a FUN and friendly environment is characteristic of all Parks and Recreation programs. This is the TAAF Youth Track Parent & Coach Handbook. It describes the Parks and Recreation s youth track program. Please take a few minutes and read the information inside this handbook. This material will answer some of your questions concerning the program. Youth Sports programs are possible by the dedication of volunteer workers. If you are interested in volunteer opportunities, please contact us. Families are very important to the City of La Porte Parks and Recreation Department! Please take an interest in your child by participating with him/her during the practices and games. Also, time spent with your child at home in sports skills development builds confidence and parent-child relationships. Thanks for your participation. TAAF YOUTH TRACK AND FIELD PARENT INFORMATION 2018 1. This is a recreational league. All individuals will be registered as one team. 2. You will receive uniform top when all the uniforms for the team have been received by the printing company. 3. Coaches will be asked to communicate with parents about practices, games and sportsmanship. If you have any issues communicating with coaches, please notify the Recreation Center Specialist at your earliest convenience. 4. Parents, Coaches and Judges will be provided a copy of the TAAF Youth Track Rules. Parents are expected to have good sportsmanship throughout the season to set an example for their children. Parents and Coaches are asked to treat the judges with respect. If a judge deems a parent or spectators behavior as inappropriate, the judge reserves the right to eject a parent, spectator or Coach from the facility for the duration of the meet. 5. A brief overview of practices is attached and a more detailed list of practices will be available once practices start. 6. Practices and meets will be outside, please provide your participant with sufficient water and snacks. 7. Practices and meets are subject to change or cancelation due to weather. 8. Parks and Recreation sponsored hotel accommodation for the state track meet are extremely limited, and only available for qualifying state track participants. Rooms will be given on a scholarship bases.

TAAF YOUTH TRACK AND FIELD PARENT INFORMATION 2018 Practice Schedule Practices will be from June 4 th until July 27 th, 2018 Practices will be Mondays through Thursdays. JH/HS Distance Runners 7:00am All other runners 8:30am -10:30am Specialties (Field Events) 10:30am 11:30am TAAF Track Meets will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays. All practices will be at LPISD Bulldog Stadium. When bringing your child to the stadium please park in the baseball parking lot and while your children over to the stadium.
