This brochure is prepared and presented to you by the MRC in hopes that it will enable you to take full advantage of the activities offered during the summer. Tear off on the dotted line YOUTH SOFTBALL & BASEBALL As in the past years, softball and baseball will be organized for girls grades K-12 and boys grades K-8. Each team will play two games a week, which will take place Monday through Thursday in the morning or early afternoon. If you want your child to participate fill out the attached registration form and return it to his/her principal s office or the Minot Recreation office by May 4. IF YOUR CHILD S NAME IS ON A ROSTER OF A TEAM ALREADY ORGANIZED, GIVE THE REGISTRATION FORM TO YOUR COACH. DO NOT TURN IN ANOTHER FORM TO THE OFFICE. Any special requests must be made by May 4. The season will start June 11 and run through the first week of August. Age Divisions are as follows: Grades refer to the 17-18 school year. We need as many volunteer coaches as possible, so if you would consider coachingassisting your child s team, please indicate by circling YES on this form. ADULT ACTIVITIES SUMMER TENNIS RECREATIONAL PROGRAMMING WEEKLY PROFESSIONAL TENNIS CLINICS: Monday 6:00 pm Advanced Skills, Drills and Thrills: This clinic is designed for advanced players that want to take their game to the next level and improve their technique and tactics for winning tennis. The cost is $15 per session. Tuesday 6:00 pm Adult Beginner Tennis: Get back in the game. This is designed for players that are just starting and intermediate players who want to improve this summer. Learn the sport of a lifetime and meet new friends. Lessons will be every Tuesday evening starting June 12, 2018 at Hammond Park. The cost is $15 per session. Wednesday 6:00-7:30 pm Ladies Night Doubles: Designed to improve your doubles play and strategies. Cost $15 per session. Thursday 6:00-8:00pm Top Gun: Advance players come meet new players and make new friends. Match play with coaching to help you improve. The cost is $15 per session. Meet new players Make new friends! One on One Private Coaching: MRC is also offering private lessons with Director of Tennis Marc White. Marc is a certified USPTA/PTR Professional, and is recognized as a PTR National Tester. He is excited to help you take your game to new heights this summer. Feel free to contact Marc at (701) 839-1900 to enroll in any programs or to schedule private lessons. We are accepting youth from 10 and under to adults of all ability levels. Coach Marc is also the Manager and Director of Cameron Indoor Tennis Center. Make this summer your summer to improve your health and tennis by joining in on the fun and one of our many exciting instructional programs. Tennis Rocks!! This summer get healthy and learn to play tennis! ADULT SOFTBALL: Adult softball league games are played at South Hill Complex and the Keith White Sertoma Sports Complex nearly every night during the summer, starting the first week of May. Men s and women s slow pitch teams may add players until June 15. See Special Events section in the brochure for tournament listings. 3

Fall Coed Slow-Pitch Adult Coed Slow Pitch Softball Leagues will begin the week of August 13, 2018. Deadline to enter teams will be Friday, August 3 at 4:30 pm. YOUTH ACTIVITIES ************************************************************************ SPRING TRACK There will be a spring track program for girls and boys in grades 3, 4, 5, and 6. The meets will be held the first three Mondays in May (7 th, 14 th, and 21st) at 6:00 at Duane Carlson Stadium. These meets will be running events only. No preregistration necessary. This program is FREE. FITNESS GYM This is a fun activity-based program that allows kids to exercise, move around, and just be active. It is for youth who have completed Kindergarten through grade six. Classes will be held Monday through Thursday from 8:30 AM Noon. Each child will be scheduled to come to two one-hour sessions a week. Classes will be held in the Armory on the east side of the Auditorium. Those interested should register at the Minot Auditorium on Monday, June 11th between 9:00am and 12:00pm. There is NO early registration. This program is FREE. ART Art classes for youth who have completed Kindergarten through grade six will be available. Classes will be taught weekday mornings. SUMMER OLYMPICS Summer Olympics is a track meet for children ages 6-14. Meets are held on Tuesday evenings at 6:00 pm at Duane Carlson Field (7 th Street & 11 th Ave SW). Children compete against others in their age group in running, jumping, and throwing events. Ribbons are given to all participants. This program is free. Summer Olympics will take place on the following Tuesday evenings: June 5 June 12 June 19 June 26 YOUTH TENNIS RECREATIONAL PROGRAM/JUNIOR INSTRUCTIONAL PROGRAMMING RECREATIONAL TENNIS: This summer Minot Recreation s Learn to Play Tennis free tennis lessons which will begin the week of June 11 th, 2018. Instruction will be 4

available for children in grades 1 8 and sessions will run Monday Thursday from 10:00 am 1:00 pm at the following areas: Hammond Park 3 rd street and 8 th Ave. NE (across from Trinity Nursing Home) South Hill Complex 6 th street and 16 th Ave. SE (across from Our Redeemers) Those signing up for tennis will have lessons twice a week. Children wishing to participate should register at the area where they plan on taking lessons between 10 am 12 pm Monday June 11 th, 2018. TENNIS ROCKS Block Party Play Day June 9, 2018 at Hammond Park from 10am-Noon. Check out the information about the Block Party in the adult tennis section in this brochure.
