at SEAPARC SEAPARC RENOVATION PROJECT In September 2009, SEAPARC received funding from Canada-BC Building Canada Fund for improvements to the arena. This project is a building expansion to add a single storey space between the existing arena and the existing aquatic centre. The expansion will provide additional arena change rooms, program spaces and staff area. The refrigeration and mechancial system was upgraded with a highly energyefficient system with waste heat recovery. This portion of the project will be complete on August 15, 2010. Dressing room construction was started during the second week of July and it is anticipated to be completed in March 2011. The road access at the back of the facility will be restricted for cosntruction activities. Access to SEAPARC and parking will be maintained during construction; the facility usage and program activities disruption will be kept to a minimum. Red Cross Swim Lessons are based on age-specific physical developments and on building-block theory. For a child to successfully learn how to swim they must be comfortable getting wet before they are able to float on their own, before they can swim the front crawl. If your child is having trouble moving onto the next level get into the water with your child and practice the basics: eyes in, front float, front glide, glide with kick. Swimmers of any age can move their swimming skills along by going back to the basics. Feel free to talk to one of our Deck Leaders with any questions about progressions or helping your child through a level. 34 FOR MORE INFORMATION CALL: 250-642-8000
