2015 Go for 2 & 5 State Tetrathlon Championships Event General Information The Tetrathlon provides Pony Club with a challenging competition for members, combining sound practical horsemanship with other athletic events. The objective is to encourage all round sporting activity, including horse riding. This event is based on the Olympic Pentathlon and includes the following four phases, Running, Shooting, Swimming and Cross Country. The Go For 2 & 5 State Tetrathlon will be based at the Log Fence Pony Club, Hoffman Road, Yarloop on the 14 th & 15 th March 2015. The running and cross country phase will be held on these grounds. The swimming phase will be held at Harvey Swimming Pool, Hinch Road, off Uduc Road, Harvey. The Shooting phase will be located at the Yarloop Rifle Club, Tyler Road, Yarloop located approximately 0.5kms from the Log Fence Pony Club grounds. Log Fence Pony Club is located on Hoffman Road, Yarloop, in the States beautiful South West. Yarloop is located 120 kms south of Perth. Log Fence Pony Club is renowned for its superb and challenging state cross country course, situated on the foothills of the Darling Range, with the course going through pristine forested areas and farmland. This is the third of a three year tenure that Log Fence Pony Club are hosting the State Tetrathlon Championship weekend. We aim to show that small, enthusiastic clubs can run state level events successfully. We have a membership of only 30 riders who along with their parents will hope you all have a fun and successful weekend. An evening meal will be available for the Saturday night, at a cost of $20 per person, consisting of a main meal and dessert. For those arriving on the Friday night, there are eating places located in Harvey and Waroona consisting of a range of restaurants including Chinese and Italian restaurants, Pizza shops and a Chicken Treat. For other places please go to www.harveytourism.com There will be plenty of camping areas available at Log Fence Pony Club. Please note that camp sites are unpowered, though generators are permitted. Parking will be controlled to ensure the best use of space. Please respect the parking attendants requests. There will also be a day area reserved for those people living locally who only wish to bring their horses on the day of the cross country phase. For those who don t wish to camp, there is a range of alternative accommodation in Harvey and Waroona. For a detailed list of available accommodation please go to www.harveytourism.com or www.waroona.wa.gov.au/tourism Horse Feed is available from a number of local stores: Fryers, Harvey; Waroona Rural; Cookernup General Store; Coolup Stock Feeders Yards We have 47 regular yards. These will be allocated by the organising committee upon application on a first in basis. Cost of yards will be $10 each for the weekend. Please bring portable yards if you can beg, borrow or steal them from someone. Portable yards must be metal, PCAWA approved. Electric only yards and steel pickets are not permitted. Showers Hot showers are available at the grounds. There are also showers and toilets available at the Harvey Swimming Pool and toilets at the Yarloop Rifle Club. 2
Meals Saturday breakfast, Saturday night dinner and Sunday Breakfast will be provided by the Log Fence Pony Club. There will be a canteen operating during Saturday and Sunday to provide a range of food, snacks etc including lunches. Water Log Fence Pony Club is serviced by scheme water and so all tap water on the grounds is potable. However, please use the water wisely as it is a scarce resource. Cold, bottled drinking water will be available from the canteen. Entertainment - Karaoke will again be a feature on Saturday night where clubs can challenge each other to a sing off. Log Fence club are the current holders of this trophy. Who will it be this year?? Everyone is welcome to participate in this prestigious event. All competitors need to have attended at least three rallies on their entered mount in the last 12 months. Also the rules of Tetrathlon require that the combination have successfully completed a competitive cross country course at their nominated level, in the last 12 months. Be prepared and make sure you qualify before entries close. Eg. if you wish to enter the Tetrathlon C grade, then the horse/rider combination must have completed a C grade cross country course in the previous 12 months. SWIMMING 4 minute swim in a 50 metre pool AGES Age for Pony Club classes is determined on age as at 1 st January 2015 - see classes. NOTE: There is no limit to the number of Competitors a Club can enter. If there are insufficient members to form a team, then they will be included in a composite team. 4
CONDITIONS OF ENTRY HORSES The One Horse, One Rider Rule will apply for all Pony Club and Open Classes, eg. Horses may be entered for one class only and may not be entered in any other class. RIDERS Riders may only compete in one class. ELIGIBILITY Please refer to Tetrathlon Rules (2011) and note that as of the September PCAWA Council meeting as per Resolution 07/12 that Tetrathlon competitors must have completed at least one round of a cross country course at the level they wish to enter on that mount in the previous 12 months. This may include a cross country course at an ODE, Hunter Trials or Tetrathlon. This excludes Training Rounds. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY The Organising Committee of the Tetrathlon, the PCAWA and the Log Fence Pony Club do not accept any liability for any accident, damage, injury or illness to horses, owners, riders, grounds, spectators or any other person or property whatsoever. TEAM MANAGERS: must supply mobile phone number on the entry form, on which they can be contacted at all times during the event. They must be familiar with the PCAWA duties of tetrathlon team managers which is available on the PCAWA website. Team managers must be present with their team members at every phase. It is a requirement for the team manager to attend a briefing to be held on Friday evening (approx. 5pm) where they will pick up their Team Manager s pack. HELPER DUTIES : Team Managers will also be allocated other helper duties. In general helper duties could be a minimum of 4 hours but may be more. One helper (16yrs & Over) capable of performing any rostered duty. No self help per rider. This may include a cross country course at an ODE, Hunter Trials or Tetrathlon. This excludes Training Rounds.
