Code of Conduct All OH-PIGS Circuit exhibitors, their family members and others acting on the behalf of the exhibitors are encouraged to display good sportsmanship and ethics at all times at summer shows. We all need to remember that we as the adults MUST lead in our examples for our youth. Unsportsmanlike conduct may include but is not limited to physical actions, threats, charging into the ring, or outburst or profanity. No alcohol will be permitted in the make-up area or show ring. Youth members of the OH-PIGS Circuit should not be consuming alcohol at shows. The OH-PIGS committee that may find a member in violation can: 1. Lose points for a show 2. Lose multiple show points 3. Be asked to leave a show 4. Be barred from current or future participation in the OH-PIGS show circuit

OH-PIGS Exhibitor Eligibility Ø 3-21 age as of January 1, 2018 Ø Any exhibitor from other states may come to jackpot ages 3-21. Ø Health/Vet papers will be required to participate in OH-PIGS sanctioned shows before you unload at a show venue. Ø Must be a fulltime Ohio resident, or Ohio 4-H member or Ohio FFA member to participate in accumulation of OH-PIGS Circuit points. Ø Minimum age is 3, however, parents are to use their best discretion and a member s points will NOT count if they have someone helping them in the show ring. OH-PIGS Membership Fee Ø $25.00 one-time fee per OH-PIGS participant. Ø Membership benefits: T-shirt & promo bag and eligibility for points awards Ø Members must be signed up and paid before a show starts. Points will not accumulate before you become a member. Fee to be paid at any sanctioned show. Ø All pigs accruing points must be identified before points will be awarded. 1. Market Market barrows/gilts will not exceed 280 lbs. All pigs will show by weight, sex and breed Barrows must be born on or after November 1, 2017. Purebred barrows crossbred barrows crossbred gilts Pedigrees must be shown to prove breed, otherwise barrow will be shown as a crossbred ü Members are required to show (exhibit and showmanship) their OWN pigs to earn points. Exception only if exhibitor has more than one animal in a ü class. Members cannot show any other members pigs or share pigs among family members. If you show another member s pig, no points will be rewarded in that particular class for that pig. ü ALL NOVEMBER MARKET HOGS CAN BE SHOWN UNTIL JUNE 1, 2018. AFTER THIS DATE, NO NOVEMBER MARKET HOGS ARE ELIGIBLE TO ACCRUE POINTS. ü Hogs that are brought back from WPX and were not owned and in the possession of the exhibitor prior to WPX, will not receive points. 2. Purebred Breeding Gilts Gilts will be shown by breed and age. Gilts must be born on or after November 1, 2017. MUST present a copy of pedigree which will be kept on file. A purebred gilt that does not have a pedigree will show as a crossbred breeding gilt. ü Members are required to show (exhibit and showmanship) their OWN pigs to earn points. Exception only if exhibitor has more than one animal in a class. ü Members cannot show any other members pigs or share pigs among family members. If you show another member s pig, no points will be rewarded in that particular class for that pig. ü ALL NOVEMBER BREEDING GILTS CAN BE SHOWN UNTIL JUNE 1, 2018. 3. Crossbred Breeding Gilts Crossbred breeding gilts will show by weight. Gilts cannot be older than November 1, 2017. Crossbred breeding gilts cannot exceed 325 pounds. ü Members are required to show (exhibit and showmanship) their OWN pigs to earn points. Exception only if exhibitor has more than one animal in a class. ü Members cannot show any other members pigs or share pigs among family members. If you show another member s pig, no points will be rewarded in that particular class for that pig. ü ALL NOVEMBER CROSSBRED BREEDING GILTS CAN BE SHOWN UNTIL JUNE 1, 2018. AFTER THIS DATE, NO NOVEMBER BREEDING GILTS ARE ELIGIBLE TO ACCRUE POINTS. ü Hogs that are brought back from WPX and were not owned and in the possession of the exhibitor prior to WPX, will not receive points. 4. Showmanship Peewee ages 3-4 Novice ages 5-8 Junior ages 9-12 Intermediate ages 13-16 Senior ages17-21 ü This is the age the exhibitor was as of January 1, 2018 ü Must KNOW and SHOW in your age/division ü If you show in wrong age/division you will NOT receive points for your correct division. ü Divisions will be randomly broken into classes in each age division with no more than 10 in a class.

5. Skillathon Peewee Novice Junior Intermediate Senior ü Skillathon will be given on 2 different weekends, one in May (May 27, Sunday, Madison County) and one in June (June 23, Saturday, Clark County). ü No cell phones are allowed to be used during the skillathon ü Exhibitors will rotate throughout stations that cover information from the swine industry. ü Parents cannot complete the skillathon helping their own child. We have helpers to help the little guys. J ü Exhibitors will be offered assistance with any trouble in reading the directions or questions. 6. Judging Contest OH-PIGS exhibitors are encouraged to judge at both of the judging events: A. Livestock judging ü Market class of barrows/gilts and a breeding gilt class. ü Livestock Judging Contest will be held at Madison County- May 28 ü Exhibitors will have 4 placings to mark on card for breeding and market. ü Exhibitors will answer 5 questions for breeding and market. B. Meat judging ü Meats Judging Contest will be held at Clark County June 23 ü Meats judging will consist of retail meat identification and placing 2 classes of retail cuts. C. Judging contest expectations ü No cell phones are allowed during the contest ü Parents cannot assist their own child during the judging contest. We have the older exhibitors assist the younger exhibitors. ü OH-PIGS exhibitors only have to participate in one of the judging contests, however, if the exhibitor does both contests, both scores will be tabulated into Overall Exhibitor Points.

7. Photography Contest OH-PIGS encourages our exhibitors to use photo to communicate about the swine industry. This is a stand alone contest and will not be calculated in the Overall Exhibitor Point totals. Entries will be judged in 3 categories: Pigs People Industry ü Photo must be taken by an OH-PIGS exhibitor ü Photo submitted cannot have the exhibitor submitting the photo in the picture. ü Photo must be taken by the OH-PIGS exhibitor within the last calendar year. ü An OH-PIGS exhibitor may enter 1 photo into each category. ü Photos cannot be digitally altered and if judges deem that the photo is altered, the exhibitor will be disqualified. ü Photos should not have captions. ü Photos will be accepted in color, black and white or sepia. ü All photos submitted must be a 5x7 print with an index card stating exhibitor name, age, and category to be judged in 8. OH-PIGS Overall Exhibitor Members of the OH-PIGS Circuit will accrue points once membership fees are paid. There will be a Top 5 OH-PIGS Exhibitors awarded by earning points in the following areas: Pig points = 2 highest placing pigs (Can be 2 market, 2 breeding, 1 of each) Showmanship Skillathon Judging Contest (may do both Livestock and Meats Judging Contests)

Show Information Ø Shows must follow the guidelines set forth by the OH-PIGS for record keeping and general fairness to the exhibitors Ø All results from the show must be turned into Kelly Morgan, Manager of Showpig Programs, at kmorgan@ohiopork.org within three days from the date of the show. Ø All results will be submitted using the format given by the OH-PIGS Circuit. Ø Ohio residents do not need to bring health papers. However, out of state exhibitor health papers are required and will be presented or those animals will not show. Ø Out of state residents WILL need health papers stating the following information: ü Official ID (ear notch and metal 840 or RFD tag number) ü Raw garbage statement stating that you do not feed your herd garbage. ü Cannot be from a pseudorabies state ü Any questions, contact the state veterinarian s office at (614) 728-6220 Ø ALL shows are non-terminal Ø Barrows and gilts will be shown separately by all breeds and crossbreds Ø Purebreds will be show separately by breeds. ALL purebreds must provide a pedigree. ALL purebreds must meet breed characteristics Ø No minimum number of head per breed required to form a class Purebred classes will be determined by the show committee based upon number of entries on the show day. Ø There are to be NO AOB classes at any show. Ø Purebred breeding gilts cannot be shown as a purebred market gilt. If you chose to show a purebred as a market gilt, it will have to show as a crossbred. Ø Points will be awarded for 2 highest placing pigs. (2 markets, 2 breeding gilts, 1 market/1 breeding) Ø Each show will begin with showmanship (Senior working down to Peewee) Ø A judge can only judge 1 show on the OH-PIGS Circuit per year.

Points Points will be kept as follows: (member can accumulate points from all shows; however awards will be based on the grand total points from member s top TWO pigs and showmanship from the 50% plus 1 of all OH-PIGS sanctioned shows offered during the 2018 season.) a. Show coordinators will record and send results to Kelly Morgan b. The Ohio Pork Council (www.ohiopork.org) will have a link to the OH PIG website which will serve as the official site for the summer circuit c. The show dates for the summer season will be verified by the OH PIGS Senior Board d. Points will be accumulated from all sanctioned shows, however overall awards will be based on points earned from the member s top two pigs at the 50% plus 1 most successful shows e. Points will only be earned for the identified pigs of an exhibitor. That exhibitor is the only one who may show the identified pig(s). f. Pigs must be born November 1, 2017 and after will be eligible to show for the entirety of the OH PIGS Summer Circuit g. Any grievance must be presented to the OH PIGS Senior Board, within 24 hours of incident, in writing and accompanied by a $100 non-refundable fee. POINT BREAKDOWNS Classes - top five placings in each: o 1st = 10 x number of head in class with max of 5 head o 2nd = 9 x number of head in class with max of 5 head o 3rd = 8 x number of head in class with max of 5 head o 4th = 7 x number of head in class with max of 5 head o o 5th = 6 x number of head in class with max of 5 head 6th and below = 5 points each Examples 5 head or over in a class: 1st = 50 points 4 head in a class: 1st = 40 points 3 head in a class: 1st = 30 points 2 head in a class: 1st = 20 points Breed winners: o Champions = 10 points o Reserves = 7 points

Overall Breeding and Market winners: o Grand Overall = 5 points o Reserve Grand = 4 points o Third Overall = 3 points o Fourth Overall = 2 points o Fifth Overall = 1 points Showmanship Classes: o The following points will be used to determine Champion Showman through 10 th Overall in each age division. 1st = 10 points 2nd =9 points 3rd = 8 points 4th = 7 points 5th = 6 points 6 th = 5 points 7 th = 4 points 8 th = 3 points 9 th = 2 points 10 th = 1 point o NEW NEW NEW --------Exhibitors will be selected from each class to come back to an Overall Showmanship drive in that respective division. They will return at the end of their age division to compete for overall showman of that division. (I.E. If there are four novice classes, the selected class exhibitors would return to compete for Overall Novice Showmanship drive). Exhibitors asked to come back will receive 7 points for being asked back to final. These points are what exhibitors accrue for Overall Showman of their respective division and go towards the exhibitors overall point totals. Members are required to show (exhibit and showmanship) their own pigs to earn points. Pigs cannot be shared among siblings. Exception only if exhibitor has more than one animal in a class. o o o o Substitute showman must be 3-21 years of age For exhibit and showmanship classes, members are required to show their own pigs, to earn points; however if an exhibitor has more than one animal in a given class, the member will show one animal and have a substitute showman (3-21 years old) show another. Also, no additional showman or drivers on that 1 pig. Must show own pig in showmanship Failure to do so will result in loss of points for that pig for that show on that day.
