Hello Racers, Thank you for registering for the 8 th Annual Chula Vista Challenge Triathlon The CVC San Diego Half Triathlon, a USAT sanctioned Event. We hope you enjoy the bike course through the community of Chula Vista and scenic run along the water front. Please take time to review your race course maps, USAT Rules, race schedules and course cut off times. On Saturday, we will be having detailed course talks with Steve Tally and USAT Officials at the Expo at 11:30am and 1:00pm and kids course talk by Coach Judi at 2:00 PM. Although the course talks are not mandatory we highly suggest you attend one of the talks and ask any questions you may have. Remember it is Your responsibly to know your course and number of loops to cover your distance! Bring Your Family & Friends Please invite your friends and family to join you on Race Day! The race course has been designed so that you can be cheered on no matter if you are doing the Sprint or the 70.3 Mile events. Please see the Expo Map and share it with your cheer squad so they will know where to see you the most. The swim course can be viewed from the beach and along the pier. For distances that have multiple loops, there are Bike and Run Hot Lap Corners where you will pass multiple times. The finish line is located right in the middle of the expo next to the Ballast Point Brewery Beer Garden tent and Margaritaville supporting Challenged Athletes Foundation Operation Rebound. Come enjoy Beer and Margaritas after your race (suggested $5 donation). On race day, we also will have a Mexican food truck preparing tacos, burritos and other tasty treats at the expo for purchase. Bring the Kids We have Itsy Bitsy and Mini Sprint Races that start at 11am. Bring your kids over to watch these young athletes and cheer them on. Maybe your kids will be inspired to join the fun sport of triathlon at one of our future youth events. The event Expo Saturday and Sunday will have a Kids Fun Zone with jumpy and the Bayside park playgrounds. Challenged Athletes Foundation Operation Rebound This event supports CAF Operation Rebound, a San Diego based charity that is dedicated to helping our Soldiers and First Responders from the frontlines to the Finish line through sports. We hope you all will take up the CHALLENGE of donating at least $10 dollars to CAF at the event on Saturday or Sunday. I want to help! How do I donate? We will have a donation station set up on Saturday near the Event T-Shirt booth in the expo, and in the Beer / Margarita garden Sunday. Two types of San Diego s Ballast Point Beer will be on tap along with freshly made Lemon Lime Frosty Margaritas from The Margarita Man. (Suggested donation $5 each). If you would like to make a larger Tax-Deductible gift please bring a check written to Life Sports Foundation or Donate Online. Other ways to contribute. For raising just $600 you can race in any Koz Event Triathlon or GranFondo Bike ride for free. Many of our athletes create teams and raise well above the $600 minimum per person.
