I am sure the skiers and snow boarders have been enjoying this winter, as long as the passes stay open to traffic. We had a good turnout for the Duwamish Head race, and a lot of positive feedback from the racers, they had a good time Friday night at the guest moorage tent and appreciated the coffee and muffins Saturday morning. A big thanks to Ben Stewart for handling the parking duties of all of the boats, he was able to squeeze almost everyone in. Also a big thank you to Rose Edmiston, Vicki Carey, Shelley Conti, and Kristi Brame for the delicious soups they provided at the Friday night race social. Also to Don Brame for the great continental breakfast, I know the racers really enjoyed it.final thank you to Steve Sisson who organized the race and Bill Walton and his crew who monitored the race on the water. Unfortunately the Duwamish Head race was not able to be completed; it is unfortunate as it was a beautiful day to be out on the water. We had a great turnout at our last Social on January 12 th, I enjoyed the presentations by Buzz Greenman, Jim Redmond and Tom Spohn, between all of them they have many years of boating and maintenance experience, I think we all walked away with some new information. Be sure to attend our next general membership meeting on February 9 th at Angelo s, Janet Sisson has a great speaker planned for the event.
I will be counting the days until our first cruise of the season Crab Feed, please be sure to fill out your order and return it to Tim and Caroline McShane timely so that they can get an accurate count how much crab to order. Ground Hog day is fast approaching let s hope that Punxsutawney Phil predicts an early spring. See you on the water. Racing News Andy Norton, Race Fleet Captain Paul Goforth, Assisting Steve Sisson, Duwamish Head Race Officer Duwamish Head Race Wrap Up The fog lifted just in time to start all boats right on schedule. Then the day turned sunny and there was a light breeze that kept all the boats moving. See the following link for some great photos. https://www.flickr.com/photos/135780969@n04/sets/72157663273401951/ Lurking around the corner of Alki Point however was a different scene. That was no wind and an ebbing tide with the ebb predicted to get much stronger. Soooo the decision was made to abandon the race. Thanks to all our volunteers who worked to put on the race. Ben Stewart who managed the boat parking like it has never been managed before. Bill Walton and the crew on a tout a l heure, our safety boat. Tom Spohn and VIVA for setting the starting mark, Don Brame and volunteer chefs armed with many crockpots that handled our hospitality. The crew on the end of the dock that helped start the race. Behind the scenes Paul Goforth was securing the race permit. Mark Harang was the measurer and input the race registration into Regatta Network. Kathryn Brunette enters the finish data if there ever is any. Tom Hubbard for designing and getting the T-shirts made which sold out before the start of the race. Mark Mannard for loaning his motor home. The wind hole behind Alki Point on a South wind has been a problem for some time. For next year we intend to add Alki Point as a mark of the course so that the race can be shortened when there is no wind in Elliot Bay. Thanks again to all of those that helped put on the race. Duwamish Head T-shirts Were a Big Hit! This year's Duwamish Head T-shirt sales were a huge success, and by success I mean there won't be any handed out during the Mid Sound Summer Social! For the first time in years, the shirts sold out the day of the race. In fact, I have had people emailing me weeks after the race to see if I had any leftovers. So many people that I will re-order them if I can get enough confirmed pre-orders. To make it financially feasible, I need confirmed pre-orders (by Feb. 8th) for a minimum of 15-20 items. You can also order navy blue "Hoodies" with the design if you wish. The hoodies will count towards the minimum. T-shirts would cost $15.00 and Hoodies $25.00. You can order Adult Small up to 5X-L. If you're interested, email: thubbard84@msn.com and tell me what size shirt(s) / hoodie(s) you would like to order. I will let everyone know if I have enough orders to make it happen. Tom Hubbard

Cruising News TBD, Chair Crabfeed March 12-13th It s time to break out the sails or turn on the engines, and meet at Blake Island for the first cruise of the season. This year we cordially extend an invitation to members of the Poverty Bay Sail & Power Squadron to join us for the potluck and games. The Club has reserved the point shelter this year for our potluck. Activities are planned for Saturday, March 12th, beginning with the Games at 14:30. Potluck dinner begins at 17:30. Prizes will be awarded after dinner. Brush up on your card skills, for a round robin of Crabjack. Just like the Final Four, players will advance to second and final rounds, and finally determining the Crabjack champion. We will need several volunteer Crabjack dealers to keep the game moving smoothly. Some experience is necessary, and a refresher will be provided. All are encouraged to join in the fun. Other games will test your skill at finding words from jumbled letters, and creating a tabletop display with a Spring Forward theme. Sunday, March 13 th we all need to set our clocks forward-longer days are coming! Please bring your used candles, to incorporate into your tabletop display for all to enjoy at dinner. Let us know if you are willing to judge the Tabletop and be a Crabjack dealer. The prices are $9.00 per half crab and a $5.00 event fee per adult. We ask you to complete the form in this Barnacle, and send the form and check to the McShanes by March 3rd. Please make your check payable to Three Tree Point Yacht Club. See you at Blake Island for the games, prizes and crab!! Remember to fly your burgee, so we can assist with docking. The dock space is first come first serve, and historically we have shared dock space with up to 3 other yacht clubs. PS. Bring wood for the campfire and candles for the tabletop displays. See you there!
