Tallahassee Chassee August 2018 Page 2 Events TRAACA Garage Tour Summary July 14 2018 On July 14 many members of the Tallahassee Region AACA braved the heat to participate in a garage tour of several garages located in and around Havana and Quincy. Jack Hanbury took the lead on planning and preparing for this tour so once again, much thanks to Jack for doing this. First Stop - Jerry Wise garage near Havana The club met at Jerry s garage beginning at 8 am to look at his facilities and the many cars and projects they contain. Thanks to Jerry for coffee and doughnuts to start the day. Jerry purchased the property and buildings from the estate of Milford Barker in 2000. Milford and Ruth Barker were longtime members and supporters of the TRAACA. They collected many vehicles but Milford was especially fond of Studebakers. He was a past president of the club. Many of his vehicles were acquired by Wayne and Rosa Ann Hadden and can be seen at their museum in Cairo GA. Jerry had quite a collection of memorabilia and displayed a number of his cars including his award winning Jaguar XKE. He also rents space to other collectors and a number of their cars were on display as well. Other vehicles on display included a 1966 Corvette, 66 Dodge Charger, 66 Corvair and 1946 Buick Roadmaster. Thanks again to Jerry for hosting the club and giving us a great start to the tour. Second stop Havana Hot Rods Kenny White owner Kenny has been restoring and building cars for over 40 years, at first for himself and then for others as well as his skills and knowledge increased and other people began to ask him to build cars for them. He started Havana Hot Rods in 2008 specializing in full restorations. They are also able to upgrade vehicles as a customer requires with modern running gear and options. There was a variety of vehicles shown in various stages of restoration. Third Stop N & E Machine & Parts Quincy Neil Davis owner Neil is a longtime member of the club and has been in business in and around the Tallahassee Area for over 50 years. He has been in N & E s present location in Quincy since 2005. Neil has a vast shop in a closed kitty litter plant. His shop contained a number of vehicles under repair and restoration including several TRAACA members cars. They can work on a large variety of vehicles from the 1800 s to the present day. They have full facilities including machine work, electrical, and paint and body. He is also able to assist people with the completion of their restoration projects that have stalled for some reason. He also has some vehicles to sell and can assist in preparing a vehicle to sell. Fourth Stop Lashley Automotive Wayne Lashly owner Wayne s shop was extremely tidy with a number of cars on display and some in the process of being repaired. He specializes in repairs of 1932 to 1990 vehicles. His shop can handle restorations and repairs with a full service shop which includes painting, minor metalwork, panel fabricating, drive train, wiring and welding. On display were several of Wayne s personal cars including this modified for drag racing. Final stop Many of the club members on the tour met at the Country Kitchen for a meal and to cool off before heading home. Once again, much thanks to Jack Hanbury for putting this together. Attendance was great and we hope to have more of this type of event in the future. Ken Hart, President, Tallahassee Region AACA
