SWIM STARTERS Parent*/Child Swim Lessons (ages 6 months-3 yrs.) Stage A/Water Discovery Parent* and infant/toddler introduction to the aquatic environment. Friday 9:30-10am 9-9:30am Stage B/Water Exploration Parent* works with their toddler/preschool to age 4 child, to learn fundamental safety and aquatic skills. Friday 9:30-10am 9:30-10am * At the Y, we know families take a variety of forms. As a result, we define parent broadly to include all adults with primary responsibility for raising children, including biological parents, adoptive parents, guardians, stepparents, grandparents, or any other type of parenting relationship. CLASSES FOR CHILDREN 1-3 Years Music Wiggle & Giggle (1.5-3 yrs.) Make music magic, grooving to the rhythm and beat using fun instruments. 9:30-10:15am Little Rollers (1.5-3.5 yrs.) Tots complete a structured warm-up, conquer an obstacle course and participate in cooperative play. 10:30-11am Making a Mess (1.5-3 yrs.) Explore art and learn new techniques that will put a smile on your child s face. Best part - we do all the clean-up. Dress for a mess. Parent must be present. 11:30am-12pm CLASSES FOR CHILDREN 3-5 Years Creative Kids (3-5 yrs.) Create your own masterpieces using a wide range of art materials. Develop fine motor skills, language, cognitive skills, and listening and following directions in this enriching environment. 1:30-2:15pm Culinary Kids (3-5 yrs.) Aquatics Leaders Club (ages 14-16) Interested in eventually becoming a YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor? Learn the skills and attitude necessary to provide a safe and fun aquatic learning environment for young children. Class includes in-water job shadowing, assisting in select Swim Lesson Classes, and out of water time to understand and learn the tools necessary to teach. Upon completion, participants will have Basic Water Safety skills and can volunteer as a Swim Instructor Assistant. Anyone under the age of 18, prior to swimming in the pool, must complete the YMCA swim skills assessment and be assigned a red, yellow or green swim band. These bands help our certified lifeguards keep our swimmers safe.
