Lion facts: Lions live in groups called prides. A lion litter has 1-4 cubs in it. The females hunt at dusk or night. The lion s great physical strength puts it at the top of the food chain. Lions rest or sleep up to 20 hours a day. The lion s diet varies by region. It can include zebra, buffalo, giraffe, wildebeest, and carrion. What is wrong with this picture? The emperor penguins live in the Antarctic and are the largest of the penguins. They usually stay on pack ice, which is made up of broken ice masses, frozen together. They often stay on this ice and never set foot on land. They lay a single egg and incubate it on top of one of the parent s feet. The differences between the African elephant and the Indian elephant make them easy to tell apart. The African elephant is the larger of the two and has larger ears as well. There are both black and white African rhinoceroses. Black rhinos and white rhinos have similarities and differences. The black rhinoceroses are mean, fight a lot, and like to be alone. The white rhinoceroses are calm, run from trouble, and like to be around other white rhinos. White rhinos like to graze on grass, and black rhinos prefer bushes and trees. Rhinos like to take dust and mud baths. Rhinos can t see very well. African rhinos have two horns. The rhinoceros newborns are up and running within an hour of being born. There are three different species of zebra: the plains zebra, Grevy s zebra, and the mountain zebra. Only the first is common; the others are all endangered species.
