. The Grand Valley Grapevine Official Monthly Newsletter of the Grand Valley Homeowners Association G.V.H.A. P.O. Box 550 New Port Richey, FL 34656 Tel. (813) 468-0872 Issue 226 July 2014 Page 1 of 12 Editor: Walda Pagucci 8141 Stony Bridge Drive 264-7773 email: walda@tampabay.rr.com Assistant Editor: Doris Ridgway 813-468-0872 Nominating Committee The Nominating Committee is still accepting names for the 2015 Board of Directors. If you are interested in running, please call Roberta Klein, 727-846-8287, Patty Pickles, 727-815-8730, or Frank Messina, 727-848-9071. We need the names of anyone interested by October 1, 2014. Help Reduce Printing Costs Send me an email to walda@ tampabay.rr.com to be added to the list of those who get the Grapevine via their email. Printing costs are going up and the only way we can reduce the cost of printing the Grapevine is by having more people get it online instead of a printed copy. Right now, I have several (20 +) interesting articles that I would love to include in our newsletter, but that would increase the page count, which would increase the cost to print it. You can help by electing to get the Grapevine via your email. Give it a try - what have you got to lose? If you want a copy of a previous issue of the Grapevine, send me an email (walda@tampabay.rr.com) and I will send you one. I have a copy of all the Grapevines that I have done saved on my computer. July 4th Pizza Party A pizza party is planned for July 4th. Come and enjoy pizza and salad with your friends in the clubhouse. Bring your own beverage. Tickets are $7.00 per person for members in good standing and $10.00 for guests, and are available from Connie. Be sure to sign up at the bulletin board in the clubhouse to help us determine what kind of pizza everyone likes. CUT OFF DATE FOR TICKETS IS 7/1. If there is not enough interest, this event will be cancelled. Don t Delete The Grapevine Too Fast! It has been brought to my attention that some of those who receive the Grapevine by email open it, read it, and delete it - oftentimes before their spouse or significant other has had a chance to read it! Please make sure everyone in your home has seen it before deleting it. It defeats the purpose of sending it electronically to save on printing costs if someone has to get a printed copy because it was deleted before they had a chance to read it. Walda Pagucci, Editor

Issue 226 July 2014 Page 2 of 12 Red Hats Thanks to Ollie for our ice cream party for June. Looking forward for what Pat Blake has planned for July. July 26th Dance 7:00 pm featuring the RETROS. Anyone interested in playing on the 2nd Monday of the month at 7 PM contact Connie or Susan. If you can count to 6 you can play. Price is $5.00 to play and you can win that or more back. Library Help Needed We could use some help in the Library with putting the books back. You don t have to do it every month but if you re there and could put them back it would be deeply appreciated. In addition, when you bring a book back if you could put it back on the shelf that would be great. Thanks. Susan Red Hats Movie Day Red Hat movie day will be the fourth Thursday of July (the 24 th ) with lunch either before or after depending on what time the movie starts. Everyone had a good time and hopefully we will do it again in January of 2015. Thank you to everyone who played and especially my wonderful Cathy who helped me out. For recycling YOU DO NOT HAVE TO USE BLUE BAGS. Any container that s marked recycle will be picked up the 2ND AND 4TH WEDNESDAY of each month. Newspapers can be taken next door to the government building for recycling. Assistant Editor I would like to thank both Doris Ridgway and Connie Coté for volunteering as Assistant Editor of the Grapevine. As Connie is serving on the Social Committee, in the interest of having more people being active in the community, Doris Ridgway will assume the duty of the Assistant Editor of the Grapevine beginning with the July issue. As Assistant Editor, Doris will be responsible for proofreading the Grapevine and making certain that all the planned events are on the calendar. Please be sure to give her any information on upcoming events. Doris can be reached at 813-468-0872. Again, my thanks to both of these ladies for volunteering. Proofreading is important because it s very difficult (if not impossible) to proofread something that you ve typed yourself. Having someone proofread will help to ensure that both all planned events are on the calendar, and there will be fewer typos in the content. Walda Pagucci, Editor
