Organizers: The Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) in conjunction with the National Society of Radio Controlled Aerobatics (NSRCA) is pleased to host the 27th FAI World Championship for Aerobatic Model Aircraft in 2011 in the United States of America. The location of the event will be the International Aeromodeling Center (IAC), which is home to the AMA Headquarters, the National Model Aviation Museum and the International Flying Site. This beautiful 1,000, acre (404,6 hectares), facility features all forms of aeromodeling Control Line, Free Flight and Radio Control. There are three permanent flying sites dedicated to Radio Control aerobatics use. The USA has a rich tradition in F3A at both the national and international level since the start of competition. The NSRCA is the special interest group for precision aerobatics in the USA and is well qualified to organize and host this event. The NSRCA has over 650 members, and the US Precision Aerobatics Nationals draws over 120 contestants to the AMA flying site in Muncie every year. Invitation to Participants: All affiliated FAI countries may register a team as allowed by Section 4 of the FAI Sporting Code. The individual champion of the 2009 F3A World Championship is also invited to defend his/her title. Per Section B.3.5 of the ABR: A national team shall consist of a maximum of three individual competitors, or three pairs of competitors, for each category and a Team Manager. For those categories that do not have separate Junior Championships, the team may consist of a maximum of four individual competitors or four pairs of competitors for each category provided that the fourth competitor is a junior, plus a team manager. We are pleased to announce that we have received preliminary entry forms from 35 Countries listing 98 Pilots. 2

Dates: Official Entry Forms and payment must be received no later than 30 April 2011. A 10% penalty will be charged for late entries up to 30 May 2011. Trophy, current holder France In addition to the FAI Awards, the AMA and the NSRCA will have the pleasure of presenting other awards to the victorious countries and individual winner and contestants. Anti-Doping: If a competitor has to take, for a medical condition, any of the substances listed on the WADA Prohibited List, he or she must have a Therapeutic Use Exemption from the FAI. Location: Muncie, Indiana Home of the AMA Site: Muncie is located a little over an hour away from Indianapolis on the northeast side. If you are flying into the United States, you should fly to Indianapolis International Airport, which is a major airport that is served by 12 airlines. All major car rental agencies are found at the Indianapolis Airport. Dayton and Cincinnati, located in Ohio, both have International Airports and are within a 2-hour drive from Muncie. Muncie s population is about 65,200 people and is home to Ball State University. Local Weather: Average temperature for July is 75 degrees Fahrenheit (24 degrees Celsius) with an average high temperature of 86 degrees Fahrenheit (30 degrees Celsius). The average amount of days that have rain in July is 6.2, with an average total of 3.5 inches (8,89 centimeters). Muncie is located at 936 feet (285,2 meters) above sea-level and is at Latitude 40 14N and Longitude 085 24W. Wind is generally out of the West to Southwest and averages 6mph (9,6 kph). 3

Accommodation Details: Local area room rates range from approximately $30.00 USD (23 Euros) to $100.00 USD (75 Euros) per night; most allow two to four people in a room at this rate. Host hotels will be blocked for our use in the Muncie area just a short drive from the World Championship site (within 20 minutes). Reservations for the choice hotels can be made when submitting your entry fees. Camping is also available on the AMA site. The site features 43 recreational vehicle (RV) sites with 50-amp electric service. An RV dump station, fresh water, hot showers and toilet facilities are also available on the AMA site. Electric service is only $15.00 USD per night if you are camping in the RV location. There is also a hobby shop located on the premises. Practice Sites: A number of flying sites will be available for contestant use prior to the Championship. These sites will also be available for use during the Championship and are located within a 1-hour drive from Muncie. Details and location maps for the practice sites will be made available in bulletin 3. Travel and Directions: Indianapolis International Airport is about one-hour and 15-minute drive. This is the preferred arrival/departure airport for all teams. Additional airports at Dayton and Cincinnati (both in Ohio) are about 2-hour drives away from Muncie. Chicago s O Hare airport is about a 4-hour drive. Additional information such as directions and airline information will be published in future bulletins. Transportation/Car Rentals: All major car rental companies service Indianapolis International Airport. All have competitive rates for daily/weekly rentals. Catering/Restaurants: There are numerous restaurants in Muncie that cater to all food preferences. The IAC site will also have vendors selling food on the site, with lunch available for approximately 5 Euro. Dinner at most local area restaurants will run approximately 10 Euro. More details on restaurants will be provided upon check-in. Official Language: The official language of this championship is English. Rules: According to the 2011 FAI Sporting Code, Section 4, as well as all applicable amendments for class F3A. Fuel for the Competition: Morgan Inc. Enterprises from Alabama, USA are suppliers of model engine fuels and have offered to supply the fuel requirement of the competitors at the 2011 World Championship free of charge. They have offered 1 case (4 gallons/3.785 liters) to each competitor. If you need more than 4 gallons it is being made available at a discounted price of 50 Euro per case (4 gallons) for 30% Helicopter-low viscosity fuel and 40 Euro per case (4 gallons) for 20% Helicopter-low viscosity fuel. Order form is included with the Official Entry Form package. Protests: All protests must be presented in writing to the Contest Director during the competition and must be accompanied by a fee of 35 Euros. This fee is returned only if the protest is upheld. 4

FAI Sporting Licenses and Specification Certificates: Each competitor and the team manager must present a valid FAI Sporting License that has been issued by his or her respective National Airsport Control (NAC) organization. These licenses must be signed by the holders. Each model aircraft that is presented for processing by a competitor must also present an FAI Specification Certificate. These certificates must be signed and stamped by the competitor s NAC organization. Radio Frequency Information: All commercially available 2.4 GHz radio control systems are permitted and recommended. Radio systems on the 72 MHz frequency listed on the AMA website will also be allowed but the preference is to have all competitors using 2.4 GHz systems. Insurance: We suggest that each participant take out individual health coverage as well as travel insurance from your respective country. The Championship will be covered by limited third-party liability insurance. Flags & Anthems: Each Team must present one national flag and the national anthem of its country. All flags and national anthems must be given to the Organizer of the competition at registration and they will be returned to the Team Manager on departure, after the Closing Ceremony and before the banquet. National flags must be about 150x100 cm. National anthem must be on a CD in MP3 format. Reserve Day/Tour: We have set aside Saturday July 30, 2011 as a reserve/tour day. The Organizers are looking into local events taking place that day which include the 2011 Jet World Masters Competition in Dayton Ohio, the Brickyard 400 Qualifications at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the Annual Night of Fire at the Muncie Indiana Drag Strip. Further information regarding these events will be available upon check-in. Photograph & Biography: We kindly ask that each Competitor, Team Manager, Mechanic and Helper submit a biography form (included in the entry package) and digital photograph to appear on identity badges and in the official Program of the World Championships. Contact Colleen Pierce at cpierce@modelaircraft.org for details. 2011 AMA Precision Aerobatic Nationals August 2-6: Following the conclusion of the 2011 F3A World Championship the US National Championships for Precision Aerobatics will be held. All F3A competitors at the World Championship are invited to stay and compete in the US Nationals event. Information and entry forms can be found at the following link http://www.modelaircraft.org/files/official2011natsentryform.pdf. The deadline for regular entry is June 1, 2011. Late entries will be accepted until June 30 for an additional fee. Prior to the F3A World Championship there will be other national events held on the AMA site and everyone is welcome to attend as spectators. 5

Map of the AMA Flying Site: Sites 1 and 3 will be used for the Championship. The flying sites are far enough apart that there is no potential for aircraft on Site 3 to interfere in the airspace on Site 1. Since the flying sites face north, there are no problems with the sun for the entire day so flying can take place for well over 12 hours a day. There is also an additional practice facility (grass field) at Site 4. This site will only be available for practice after 22 July 2011. There will be other national competition before 23 July, and all competitors are welcome to attend as spectators. 8
