4-H AgVentures The 4-H AgVentures day was a success. Thank you to all the adult and youth volunteer leaders. Students who attended participated in stations with hands-on learning experiences including: Talking Tree, Beef-oBingo and Livestock, Soils, Dairy, Vegetables, Poultry, Potatoes and Petting Zoo. Hamilton County Fair We had a great Hamilton County Fair this year. Special thanks to all the volunteers who helped with various parts of the agriculture area at the Fair. Adult and youth volunteers were involved with the 4-H Tent, Duck Tent, Poultry Tent, Horse exhibitions, Petting Zoo, Farmer for a Day, Livestock area, and vegetables and forages entries.
TSC Paper Clover The Fall 4-H Paper Clover will be held October 4-15, 2017. Purchase a paper clover at the Soddy Daisy or Ooltewah Tractor Supply Company and support Hamilton County 4-H. Funds will go towards camp scholarships and leadership opportunities for county youth.
4-H Archery Club News The deadline to register for the 4-H Archery Club is October 14th. We have had great practices and meetings during August and September. If you want a packet call the Extension office. This club is open to all 4th - 12th graders in Hamilton County. Goggans speaks at Farm Bureau meeting John Goggans was selected to attend the National Youth Leadership Forum in Searcy, Arkansas. His trip was sponsored by Tennessee Farm Bureau Hamilton County Board. He stayed at Harding University along with other high school youth. He shared his experience with other youth and gaining new leadership skills with the board members. Thanks for sponsoring John it was a great leadership experience.
4-H Fall All Star Conference The 2017 Fall All Star Conference will be held in Gatlinburg, TN, November 17-19. This conference is open to all 9th-12th graders. You do not have to be an All Star to attend. Registration deadline is November 8th and cost is $110. Call the Extension office if you want a brochure. 4-H Honor Club The 4-H Honor Club is the first level of recognition for a 4-H member in Tennessee. This club is open to 5th-12th graders in Hamilton County. The club members focus on leadership and citizenship. This club meetings are 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Extension office. Meeting dates: October 5th, November 2nd, December 7th, January 4th, February 1st, March 1st, April 5th, May 3rd 4-H Homeschool Club The next 4-H Homeschool Club meeting will be held Friday, October 20th, 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., Extension office, 1st floor meeting room. This club is open to 4th-12th graders in Hamilton County. Meetings are held on the third Friday of most months. Other meetings include: November 17th, December 15th, January19th, February 16th, March 16th, April 20th and May 18th 4-H Horse Club The Mane Attraction 4-H Horse Club members meet the first Monday of the month. The next meeting will be held November 6th. The meetings are held at 6:30 p.m., Saddle Pals, Soddy Daisy. For more information call the Extension office. This club is open to 4th-12th graders in Hamilton County.
4-H Day at US Space and Rocket Center Tennessee 4-H has been invited to 4-H Day at the US Space and Rocket Center, Huntsville, AL, on October 7, 2017. Alabama 4-H collaborates with the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama on a 4-H Day each year. This will be held on October 7th with activities in the areas of drones (demonstrations in their giant drone cage ), virtual reality, coding, rocketry, and robotics. The U.S.S.R.C. is one of the most interesting and exciting places to learn about space exploration in the world as well!
