(Building is closed from 12:30-1:30 for lunch) PHONE: (732) 562-2382 FAX: (732) 653-7363 PROGRAM CANCELLATION: (732) 562-2389 www.piscatawaynj.org/recreation PICNIC RESERVATIONS: Riverside and Possumtown Parks are available to Piscataway residents and civic organizations and businesses based in Piscataway from May 7, 2012 through September 9, 2012. All picnic requests must be made in person in the Recreation Office at least two weeks before the actual date of the picnic. Documentation verifying Piscataway residency is required. Contact the Recreation Office to obtain a reservation request form and fee information. YOUTH BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL: Registration for the spring youth baseball and softball leagues listed below will be accepted from February 1, 2012 through February 29, 2012 through online registration via our website at http://www.piscatawaynj.org/recreation or in the Recreation Office Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.. All players, both new and returning, must register. All registration forms must be accompanied by the Model Code of Conduct form, which must be signed by both parents. Instructional Baseball League: Piscataway boys and girls seven and eight years of age are welcome. Players must turn seven before May 1, 2012 and cannot turn nine until after April 30, 2012. All players who sign up will be placed on a team by the Recreation Office. Parents/Guardians must email or bring the child s birth certificate when registering. Junior Baseball League: Piscataway residents ages 13, 14, and 15 are eligible. Players must turn 13 before May 1, 2012 and cannot turn 16 until after April 30, 2012. The league will be comprised of one division in which 13, 14, and 15 year olds will compete together. All players, whether new or returning, must register. New players must provide a copy of their birth certificates at the time of registration. Copies are acceptable and may be attached to online registration forms. All players regardless of skill level will be placed on teams according to a player draft. Mandatory tryouts will be held in late March 2012. Dates and times for tryouts will be provided at registration and posted on our website. Junior American Legion Baseball: Piscataway Recreation will sponsor a team in the Middlesex County Junior American Legion Baseball League. Players must be 17 years of age or younger. Players born before January 1, 1995 are too old. The league plays a 20 game schedule in June and July. Call the Recreation Office or visit our website for more registration and tryout information. Girls Modified Pitch Softball League Piscataway will enter a team(s) in the Junior Division of the Somerville Inter-town Softball League for girls in grades 3, 4 & 5. Monday and Wednesday night home and away games will be played against teams from surrounding communities this spring. All girls who register for this program will be placed on a team regardless of skill level and experience. Informal tryouts will be held and

players will be placed on teams according to a player draft. Girls Fast-Pitch Softball Piscataway will enter a team(s) in the Somerville Inter-town Fast Pitch Softball League for girls in grades 6, 7, and 8. Home and away games will be played against teams from surrounding communities on Tuesday and Thursday evenings this spring. Tryouts will be held and girls will be chosen for the team(s) by the team manager(s) according to a player draft. ADULT SOFTBALL: Adult Industrial Softball League sign ups are open to teams comprised of Piscataway residents eighteen years and older. All players must live or work in Piscataway. The deadline for submitting a team roster, entry fee, and refundable bond is Friday, February 10, 2012. Men s Slo-Pitch Industrial Softball League: Men s slo-pitch games will be played Monday through Thursday nights. To register a team you must submit entry forms, a $400.00 entry fee, and a $100.00 refundable bond no later than the February 10 th deadline. New teams are not guaranteed entry into the league. Women s Slo-Pitch Industrial Softball League: Women s slo-pitch games will be played on Tuesday and Wednesday nights. To register a team you must submit entry forms, a $400.00 entry fee, and a $100.00 refundable bond no later than the February 10 th deadline. Over 35 Men s Slo-Pitch Industrial Softball League: Piscataway residents over 35 years of age as of January 1, 2012 are welcome. A very relaxed, low-key league will be played on Friday evenings. The deadline for submitting a team roster and $425.00 entry fee is Monday, March 26, 2012. New teams are not guaranteed entry into the league. SPRING TENNIS INSTRUCTIONS: Teenagers: Piscataway township residents thirteen years old to seventeen years old are welcome. There will be two classes, intermediate and beginners with a limit of fifteen registrants per class. There is no charge. Those interested in participating must register online via our webpage at http://www.piscatawaynj.org/recreation or you can get a registration form in person in the Recreation Office Monday through Friday 8:30 4:30 (office is closed from 12:30-1:30). The registration deadline is Monday, March 26, 2012. Adults: Piscataway township residents eighteen years and older are welcome. A class will be held for beginners that have never participated in tennis before, or have only minimal experience. Class will be limited to fifteen registrants. A $35.00 fee will be charged for this program. Those interested in participating must register in the Recreation Office by Monday, March 26, 2012. TENNIS COURT RESERVATION SYSTEM: Between April and November, Township residents 18 or older can reserve a tennis court at Columbus Park only for one hour per day Monday through Friday, for play between 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. (Court reservations are not required for weekends and all other weekday hours, and operate on a first come, first serve basis.) Use of all other courts are on a first come, first served basis. Court reservations begin on Monday, April 2, 2012. In order to make court reservations you must first register in person with Piscataway Recreation to obtain a tennis Identification Card. Proof of Piscataway residency is required at registration. There is no charge for the I. D. card, or to reserve a court. After obtaining a tennis reservation I. D. card, registrations can be made by calling the Recreation Office between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. only at 732-562-2382.

POP WARNER NEW REGISTRANTS REGISTRATION: Football For residents ages seven through fifteen years. Age and weight requirements are set by the National Pop Warner. Players must turn seven before August 1, 2012 and cannot turn fifteen until after July 31, 2012. Registration will initially be held in the Academy Street Building, located at 129 Academy Street on WEDNESDAY, MAY 23, 2012 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Players must register before being eligible to practice. Birth certificates, accurate body weight and a passport or wallet size photograph no more than 6 months old must be provided when registering. Space is limited to 35 players per team. New participants registering after May 23, 2012 must do so in the Recreation Office, not at the Academy Street Building. Cheering For residents ages seven through fifteen years. Cheerleaders must turn seven before August 1, 2012, and do not turn fifteen until after July 31, 2012. Registration will initially be held in the Academy Street Recreation Building, located at 129 Academy Street, on WEDNESDAY, JUNE 6, 2012, from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Birth certificates and a passport or wallet size photograph no more than 6 months old must be provided when registering. Space is limited to 25 cheerleaders per squad. New participants registering after June 6, 2012 must do so in the Recreation Office, not at the Academy Street Building. PICNIC BAGS & EQUIPMENT LOAN: Sports equipment bags are available for loan to Piscataway residents, and Piscataway based businesses. The bags contain horseshoes, a volleyball net and ball, softball bats and balls, a wiffle ball bat and ball, and a frisbee. A $50.00 CASH deposit is required. Also available for loan, is a tug-of-war rope at an additional $50.00 CASH deposit. All deposits are refundable upon return of loan equipment. Bags must be reserved at least two weeks in advance and returned within 48 hours of the date of use. OPEN GYM PROGRAM: The open gym program is held at Piscataway High School and is open Monday and Thursday evenings from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Participants must be Piscataway residents currently in grades 9 12. Proof of residence must be provided for admission. For further information, please call the Recreation Office. 4 TH OF JULY FIREWORKS CELEBRATION AND DISPLAY: The annual 4 th of July celebration and fireworks display will be held on Wednesday, July 4, 2012. The fireworks display will be at 9:30 p.m. at the Piscataway High School football stadium. There will be clowns, kiddy rides, music, food, and a classic car show beginning at 7:00 p.m. The 4 th of July activities are sponsored by the Recreation Department and corporate donations. The rain date is Thursday, July 5, 2012. ADULT WALKING AND JOGGING CLUB: Open to residents age 18 and older and designed to coordinate adults interested in walking and jogging within a club and group atmosphere at the bike path at Green Acres on Sidney Road. Registrations will be accepted over the phone at 732-562-2382 or via our website at HYPERLINK "http://www.piscatawaynj.org/recreation" http://www.piscatawaynj.org/recreation or you can visit the Recreation Office Monday through Friday from 8:30 4:30 (office is closed from 12:30-1:30) beginning March 29, 2010 for a registration form. All residents are required to register including those that were members last year. Deadline for accepting registrations is Friday, April 20, 2012. Program will begin on Tuesday, May 1, 2012. GENERAL INFORMATION: Participants in Piscataway Recreation sponsored events do so at their own risk and accept responsibility for all their actions and injuries incurred by their participation. Prior to submitting a claim to the Township, injured parties must first use their own medical/accident insurance as their

primary coverage. The insurance offered by Piscataway Township is supplemental and secondary only. If a claim qualifies for consideration, the Township insurance is limited to a maximum payout of no more than $5,000.00 per accident. It is now mandatory in New Jersey for all school aged youth that wear corrective eyewear while participating in recreation programs and activities to wear Protective Eyewear that meets (ASTM) American Society for Testing and Materials standards for frames, and (ANSI) American National Standards Institute standards for lenses. For use of Township facilities, parks, ball fields and courts, a certificate of insurance and a hold harmless agreement are required.
