What Cambio does Reads essentia data for anaysis from over 50 formats from instruments in common use for detecting iicit nucear trafficking. The goa is every possibe format. Converts spectra to severa formats that are commony used for anaysis. Not yet enabed on the Nuceonica site: Toos for comparing spectra and caibrating spectra. Anaysis suited especiay for HPGe spectra. Batch processing to automaticay transate a arge number of fies to severa formats (e.g., IAEA SPE and XML N42).
How Cambio works The fie is searched for patterns that indicate what kind of fie it is. Fie extensions (such as DAT, CNF, SPE, etc) are not used at first this is because sometimes severa different formats use the same extension, sometimes the fie extensions are changed or missing An attempt to read the most probabe format is made. If the data cannot be read, the next most ikey format is read. If data does not ook reasonabe it is identified with a warning If there is no success after trying every possibe format, then an attempt is made to extract the data -- even from an unknown binary fie -- by searching for signatures of gamma data: A string of non-negative numbers greater than 255 Reated ocay by Poisson statistics

How missing data is indicated If converted to IAEA SPE on Nuceonica, Cambio adds diagnostic information at the end of the SPE fie. Standaone Cambio: If no reasonabe energy caibration can be found, the spectrum is dispayed with Channes on the horizonta axis. If no reasonabe date and time of creation, ive time, or rea time can be found, defaut data are dispayed in a red fied and an error message is dispayed.

Some known probems with Cambio on the Nuceonica site now being resoved Just fixed: Fie names cannot contain spaces (soution: repace spaces with underscores). Currenty the Spectrum dispay ony works for the IAEA SPE format, and does not yet pot as a function of energy. Just fixed: Saving to the N42 XML format writes each spectrum twice in the same fie. Ony one spectrum can be read from muti-record fies. The ast spectrum if saving to a one-record format, The first spectrum if saving to a muti-record format.
