UPDATED INFORMATION ON 2015-2016 Ahtna Tene Nene C&T Community Subsistence Harvest Permit Program Alaska Dept. of Fish and Game (ADF&G) will administer the 2015-2016 Copper Basin Community Subsistence Harvest Permit Program for the Ahtna Group entitled (Ahtna Tene Nene C&T Community Subsistence Hunt) The Administrator for Ahtna Tene Nene C&T Community Hunt will only review and approve moose and caribou applications; Ahtna, Inc. does not distribute caribou or moose harvest tickets/reports Hunters must call ADF&G (907) 822-6789 within 24 hours to report all moose harvest after immediately leaving the field or report online at www.adfg.alaska.gov If unsuccessful in harvesting a moose, hunters must return harvest permits for moose within 15 days after the close of the season Federally qualified subsistence hunters who sign up under the community subsistence hunt may still hunt on federal lands, in accordance with federal regulations, in Unit 11, Unit 12, Unit 13 and Denali National Park Lands Participants must abide by all State regulations and hunt conditions of the Copper Basin Community Subsistence Hunt If the Head of Household who filled out a 2015-2016 CSH Moose application is on the Failure to Report List, he or she will not be able to participate in the CSH moose hunt; however, the rest of the household can participate in the community subsistence hunt If the Head of House who filled out a 2015-2016 CSH Caribou application is on the Failure to Report List, that whole household will be penalized and cannot participate in the 2015-2016 CSH caribou hunt Everyone in the household 10 years of age or older must be listed on the caribou and moose application Page 1 of 5

If the household member is not 18 years of age, parents or legal guardians must sign moose and caribou application for them Participants have the option to hunt for moose and not caribou or vice versa or both moose and caribou Participants must share meat and other parts of the moose and caribou with anyone on the list of participants in the Copper Basin Community Hunt Caribou and moose meat, organs, moose hide, and moose stomach, can be dropped off at the Ahtna, Inc. Glennallen Office during businesses hours from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Beneficiaries may have a Designated Hunter but are still responsible for returning moose/caribou harvest report cards to ADF&G Both beneficiaries and Designated Hunter must be signed up in the Ahtna Tene Nene C&T Community Subsistence Harvest Permit Program Designated Hunters must carry beneficiaries and his or her moose and/or caribou harvest ticket/reports while hunting in the field Moose No member of the household can hunt outside the CSH hunt area or apply for or hold a drawing/tier I/Tier II/registration permit or a general moose season harvest ticket or hold federal moose permits outside of the CSH hunt area After the CSH hunt has ended, unsuccessful individual household members may hold state harvest tickets or permits for areas where the bag limit is greater than one moose per person No member of the household can hunt outside the CSH hunt area, apply for or hold a caribou drawing/tier I/Tier II/registration permit, general season harvest ticket, or hold federal permit outside the CSH hunt area ADF&G will issue 1 General Season Antler Restriction Moose harvest ticket/report to each household member listed on the application; bag limit is 1 bull per person Ahtna Tene Nene C&T Committee Group will be given Locking Tags for Any Bull Moose, which will be distributed to 1 per every 3 households Criteria for distribution of locking tags may be given to administrators of each village council. Administrators may be given a priority list to distribute locking tags to community subsistence hunt participants in their village Page 2 of 5

The 2015-2016 Copper Basin CSH Moose Hunt will have a 100 Any Bull Moose quota for all Groups in the 2015 CSH Program. When the100 Any Bull Moose are taken in specific areas, this moose hunt will be closed and a moose antler restriction hunt will take place Unit 11 and Unit 13, moose hunt (CM300) are allowed in Unit 11 on National Preserve Lands, and all of Unit 13 - federal and state lands Call the ADF&G hotline at (907) 822 6789 for an update on the Unit 13 Any Bull Moose (CM300) quota hunt In Unit 11 on National Preserve Lands, moose hunting season (CM300) is August 10- Sept. 20 for Any Bull Moose and Bull Moose that do not meet general season antler restrictions - Spike/Fork or 50 antlers, or 3 or more brown tines on one side In a portion of Unit 12, there isn t an Any Bull moose hunt; (CM300) moose hunting season is August 24 and August 28 and September 8-September 17 for Bull Moose that do not meet general season antler restrictions - Spike/Fork, or 50 antlers, or 4 or more brow tines on one side; In Unit 13, (CM300) hunting season is August 10-Sept.20 for Any Bull Moose and Bull Moose that do not meet general season antler restriction - Spike/Fork, or 50 antlers or 4 or more brown tines on one side Locking tag is not required for the Bull Moose that do not meet general season antler restriction Spike/Fork, or 50 antlers or 3 brow tines (Unit 11) on one side or 4 brow tines (Unit 13) on one side If Alaska Department of Fish & Game allows a CSH winter moose hunt this year, a (CM301) winter moose hunt will be held in December 1-December 31 in subunits of Unit 13 - to be determined by ADF&G at a later date A locking tag is not required for the (CM301) Winter Moose Hunt Participants must bring in from the field all edible meat from the moose s frontquarters, hindquarters, ribs, neck, and backbone, as well as the head, heart, liver, kidneys, stomach and hide and meat of the moose s head. Frontquarters, hindquarters, and ribs must remain naturally attached to the bones until delivered to the place where it is to be processed for human consumption Page 3 of 5 Caribou One CSH caribou permit/report will be issued to each household; bag limit is 1 caribou per household One caribou bag limit may change to 1 Bull Caribou by Emergency Order

Caribou CSH permit must be mailed to the ADF&G office in Glennallen within 5 days (if successful) or 15 days (if unsuccessful) in harvesting a caribou, after the close of the caribou season CSH Participants may also report Unit 13 Nelchina Caribou harvest online at www.adfg.alaska.gov No member of the household can hunt outside the CSH hunt area or apply for or hold any caribou drawing/tier I/Tier II/registration permit or hold general caribou harvest ticket, or hold federal caribou permits outside the CSH hunt area After the caribou community subsistence hunt has ended, members of a household that were unsuccessful in fulfilling their CSH bag limit may hunt in areas outside the CSH hunt area with general caribou harvest tickets or other state caribou permits where the bag limit is greater than one caribou per household. No more than one caribou may be retained per household using state harvest tickets/permits No member of the household can hunt outside the Copper Basin hunt area or apply for or hold a moose drawing/tier I/Tier II/registration permit, hold a general season moose harvest ticket or hold a federal caribou permit outside the hunt area Unit 13 Nelchina Caribou quota is 300, caribou season dates are August 10-September 20 and October 21-March 31 ADF&G will manage Unit 13 Nelchina Caribou hunt to keep hunt open until hunting season ends or 300 caribou are harvested Federally qualified subsistence participants may take one caribou under the Copper Basin Community Hunt in Unit 13, and also take one caribou with a federal subsistence permit All edible meat from the caribou s frontquarters, hindquarters, ribs, neck, and backbone, as well as the heart, liver, kidneys, and fat must be brought in from the field; prior to October 1, meat of the caribou s frontquarters, hindquarters, and ribs must remain naturally attached to the bones until delivered to the place where it is processed for human consumption Call the ADF&G hotline at (907) 822 6789 for an update on Unit 13 Nelchina Caribou quota hunt Page 4 of 5

Ahtna, Inc. Lands Hunting on Ahtna Lands is closed to Non-Shareholders. Shareholder affiliated persons can hunt with a permit provided by Ahtna, Inc. Permits are evaluated on a case by case basis. Shareholder affiliated means child or spouse of a shareholder.
