FROM BEGINNING TO WINNING Vinery Stud was originally settled as Segenhoe in 1823 by British MP Potter Macqueen and was converted to a Thoroughbred nursery in 1913. A breed shaper, More Than Ready is the ultimate professional. He will be returning for a 17th book in the Hunter Valley and heads the roster of 8 elite stallions this year. Segenhoe rose to prominence under legendary horseman Lionel Israel who operated the 2,300 acre property in the heart of horse country, just outside Scone. At the helm for nearly 50 years, Israel stood stallions the calibre of Pirate King (GB), Nilo (GB), Biscay (AUS) and Kaoru Star (AUS). Tom Simon s U.S operation, Vinery Stud, took over Segenhoe in 1999 and had immediate impact with foundation sire Red Ransom (USA). A Champion in every department, he shuttled from Vinery Kentucky and sired five Stakes winners in his first southern crop headed by Group 2 winning filly Halibery. Red Ransom is buried beside the stallion parade area next to another important import, Success Express. Two years later, Vinery brought out an unknown son of Southern Halo by the name of More Than Ready (USA). A Champion in both hemispheres, he s still going strong siring 172 Stakes winners and counting. The current Australian based ownership group will ensure Vinery s long-term commitment to the local breeding industry with young guns All Too Hard, Press Statement, Headwater and newcomer Star Turn. Vinery s lush pastures and rolling hills have been the launching pad for generations of Group 1 winners. Most recently, they include Shamus Award (Cox Plate), Atlantic Jewel (Thousand Guineas), Samaready (Blue Diamond), Entisaar (SAF Allan Robertson Championship), Delectation (Darley Classic), Prized Icon (Victoria Derby) & Russian Revolution (The Galaxy) while Frolic was runner-up in this year s Golden Slipper Stakes. There is a stallion for every broodmare owner at Vinery Stud. Contact our expert staff today and they will provide you with a comprehensive analysis on the right choice for your broodmare(s) or discuss the large variety of services we can offer you including agistment, onsite veterinary care, walk outs, foaling down as well as sales preparation and marketing. Frolic, sold by Vinery as a yearling won the Reisling Stakes Gr.2 and was 2nd in the Golden Slipper Gr.1 this year. Vinery graduate Russian Revolution claims the Galaxy Stakes Gr.1, during the Autumn carnival. More Than Ready colt Prized Icon wins the Victoria Derby Gr.1, becoming his sires' 5 th Derby winner. Vinery bought into the powerhouse Star Turn, the most consistent 3yo sprinter of the season. Vinery Stud One of Australia s oldest Thoroughbred studs, nestled in the famed Segenhoe Valley.
