General Information Holy Ghost Prep is a private, Catholic boys school located in Bensalem, Pennsylvania. Athletic Facilities include two Soccer Fields, an Outdoor Track, an Indoor Basketball Arena, Outdoor Basketball Courts, two Baseball Diamonds and Main Athletic Field shared by the Varsity Soccer and Lacrosse programs. The summer sports camps utilize all of these facilities, as well as the off-site facilities of the Bensalem Ramblers Baseball Complex and the Wissahickon Skating Club. Most clinics are designed for athletes between the ages of 6 and 15 (as of June 1, 2012). The minimum age for the baseball program will be age 8. All camps will be divided by age group and/or individual skill level to help maximize the benefits of the week for each camper. Registration is available up to the day camp starts. However, due to limited availability, early response and enrollment is highly recommended. Typical Schedule: 9:00 am.... Arrival 12:30 pm....discussion 9:15 am... Camp Dates: July 16 to July 20, 2012 Holy Ghost Prep Firebird Fieldhouse Tony Chapman $180 per camper Contact Information: 215-639-2102 ext. 210 tchapman@holyghostprep.org Holy Ghost Prep coach Tony Chapman will conduct his 33rd clinic with the aid of assistant coaches Bob McCarthy, Gary Nolan and Jim Stewart. There will be a number of college and high school players, both male and female, to coach the campers and work on the fundamentals of the game. Past guests have included Saint Joseph s University s Phil Martelli, former Duke University All-American Bobby Hurley, assistant coach of the Sacramento Kings Pete Carril, and Head Coach at Temple University Fran Dunphy. Campers should come dressed to play. We try to have a maximum of nine players on a team to ensure individual instruction. Awards will be given and each camper will have a personalized evaluation. The camp will conclude with league championship games and individual award competitions. Both girls and boys are invited to attend.
Camp Dates: June 25 to June 29, 2012 Bensalem Ramblers Baseball Complex Ted Grabowski $200 per camper Contact Information: 215-639-2102 ext. 222 tgrabowski@holyghostprep.org The 34th annual clinic will be held at Bensalem Ramblers Association on Hulmeville Road in Bensalem, PA. Professional, college and high school coaches and players make up the staff that offers individual instruction at each position. This is assured by limiting the number of participants so that there is a six to one camper to counselor ratio. Guests over the last few years have included: Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Ryan Madson; Phillies General Manager Ruben Amaro, Jr.; White Sox hitting instructor Jeff Manto and former MLB player and current Phillies hitting coach Greg Gross. Campers are divided according to age and ability into four or five groups. Campers will compete in various baseball related events at the end of the week and top participants will receive awards. Each camper will receive a written evaluation and be video taped. All campers should supply their own sneakers or spikes, gloves, caps and long pants. Current HGP coaches Al Slawter, Ted Grabowski, Chuck McMullin, Keith Smeraglio, Steve Braun and William Tennent Coach Chris Marchok will direct the camp.

Our goal is to help each player improve his or her skills and knowledge of the game and to help them be the best player they can be. Morning sessions will focus on individual instruction such as foot skills and small sided play. The afternoon sessions will focus on team play and competitions. Players are required to wear shin guards and soccer cleats. Please dress appropriately for the warm weather. Sneakers should be packed and brought each day for activities in the fieldhouse. Each camper will receive a camp T-shirt.

HGP Faculty Member and Coach, Tom Croskey (founder of HGP Ultimate Frisbee Team) will conduct the school s second ever full day Holy Ghost Prep Ultimate Frisbee Camp. Tom is a UPA Certified Level 1 Coach and has coached Holy Ghost for the past four years. The program is designed to introduce and teach the fast paced game of Ultimate Frisbee to beginner and intermediate players. The camp will teach the throws and strategies needed to compete at the high school level. Players are required to wear athletic cleats. Please dress appropriately for the warm weather. Sneakers and a water bottle should be packed each day for activities in the fieldhouse.

Coordinated by HGP Head Coach Tony Omrod, the HGP Lacrosse Camp will bring together current and former players to help every camper get individualized attention and work on position specific skills. The following concepts will be the focus of the week: shooting, passing, ground balls, dodging, defense, face-offs/wing play, man-up/man-down, and team development. All campers should provide their own equipment including: helmet, gloves, elbow pads, shoulder pads, stick, cleats/sneakers, water bottle, mouth guard, and bring a lunch.

Athletes will participate in the jumps, throws, sprints, hurdles, relays and distance events. Campers should come dressed to practice and compete. The daily schedule includes warm up activities and weight training, event explanation and skill practice, film study, and discussions on various elements of track and field participation and training. The camp will end with a mini-meet and awards will be given to the top participants. Boys and girls are invited.

HGP Head Coach Gump Whiteside has been involved in youth hockey for over thirty years. As a coach, his scholastic teams have earned a reputation for exceptionally smart play and demonstrated the highest character on the ice. Coach Whiteside has also been an active part of USA Hockey and the Atlantic District. The camp will focus on individual instruction, position responsibilities, dryland training, skating, teamwork and sportsmanship. Campers will learn from a variety of instructors including current and former HGP varsity players. Camps are designed for athletes between the ages of 6 and 15 (as of June 1, 2012). STRENGTH, CONDITIONING, & EXERCISE at Holy Ghost Prep Camp Dates: June 18 to June 22, 2012 Campers: Holy Ghost Prep Firebird Fieldhouse Jack Crouse CSCS $120 per camper Males entering 7th, 8th, & 9th grades Contact Information: 215-639-2102, ext. 294 jcrouse@holyghostprep.org Third-year HGP Strength and Conditioning Coach, Mr. John Crouse will be the head counselor of this new summer camp for 2012. Mr. Crouse is a certified Strength and Conditioning Coach and has been working with HGP student athletes for the last three years. Many of our student athletes have seen the benefits of learning the safe and effective habits of weight training under Mr. Crouse s guidance. Campers will be shown the proper way to train in order to avoid injury, improve their performance in various sports, build confidence in themselves via their physical appearance and ability. They will also establish long-term fitness habits. Campers will be educated in areas of general fitness and training. First, campers will be shown potential dangers of the weight room and proper safety measures that must be taken while training. Essential exercises will be demonstrated to the campers by the camp staff. Campers will, under strict supervision of the staff, be allowed to perform these exercises. Their form and technique will be critiqued by the staff to ensure that training is safe and maximizes results. Agility exercises and running drills will also be explored. Campers will be taught the basics of sports science and program design so that they can take what they have learned at camp and use it in the future in order to improve their physical well-being.
