Rllart fr Skate Australia In December 2017, Nicla Genchi educated and united Australian skaters, caches and fficials in their enthusiasm fr Rllart. Next step was the frmatin f the Rllart Actin Grup, whse rle is t ensure that ur skaters (the very reasn why we d this!) are in the best pssible psitin fr success in the 2019 skating year when Rllart ges live. T achieve this, ur transitin is cntinuus and dynamic cvering varius aspects f Rllart thrughut 2018 via wrkshps, educatin, practical assessments and cllabratin. It is very imprtant fr everyne t truly understand that we are in transitin and therefre wrking n cncepts, with guidelines and recmmendatins n ur way t Rllart 2019. Rllart transitin s far. 4 th February t 22 nd April In just under 11 weeks the Rllart Actin Grup has been very busy and cvered the fllwing tpics in varying degrees depending n hw each state r individuals have prgressed. Educatin will cntinue as it will take sme time fr fficials t be acrss the changes, depending upn their activity. Apprach t determining the A Mark In the early stages f transitin, which began with finding yur B Mark using 4 cmpnents, it was sn very clear t judges wh understd Rllart and the philsphy driving it, that finding the A Mark, the ld way, n lnger made sense and was at dds with the new directin. Expecting judges t think in 2 different ways t frm marks was cunterprductive and cnfusing t all. The guideline fr finding yur A Mark is based n Rllart cncept where: - the biggest and first change is that each skater / team s mark starts frm zer 0 yu build yur mark based n what the skater crrectly cmpletes (nt attempts, nearly ) e.g. a single sit spin, in the crrect psitin, n edge fr 3 revs and up n ne ft gets credit alternatively, 3 revs and up n 2 feet, r 1 rev, in the psitin is a n spin n credit is given yu need t ask yurself, what have they shwn me that they can actually d s I can reward the technical level f each item achieved in terms f difficulty (single, duble) has different value the CAPS in place reflect the level f cntent expected and assists in frming yu re A mark the quality f what is dne is als reflected in the A mark, (nly when the item is achieved). This cncept and apprach prvides a realistic and transparent way t frm the A mark, which is in line with Rllart. Caps Guideline and Recmmendatins Based n the CAPS guideline used in Rllart, we have adpted the fllwing CAPS fr all divisins bth Natinal and Internatinal events in preparatin fr Rllart. The CAP is the highest mark that can be awarded fr that grade. We ve been wrking twards this next milestne fr the past 11 weeks and after the success f wrkshps, cmpetitins, judging and learning, we re ready. It is imprtant that we keep mving frward and cntinue t embrace the Rllart cncept and wrking with the guidelines and recmmendatins. These changes, skills and adjustments are nt learned vernight and we need t keep practicing and supprting each ther. One state has asked the questin if we will be using Rllart (cncept while in transitin) at state champinships r ging back t the ld way f judging. Shrt answer is YES! And here is why. First, Rllart the system will be implemented and used in 2019, nce the final versin is released and the sftware has been received later this year. We are still in transitin Secnd, there is n lgic in mving backwards t an ld system, after s many wrkshps, cmpetitins and practice as this wuld cause mre cnfusin t skaters, parents, caches and fficials wh are used t the new marking scale and Rllart cncept. and; Finally, ur skaters will be judged at Natinals using ur transitin cncepts and Rllart guidelines, s it wuld nt make sense t nt have them judged differently at States. The skaters, caches and fficials need the practice and t keep mving frward. The new system is fair and transparent and a psitive step fr ur sprt. 4 P age
And Finally, The fllwing pints t re-cap ur apprach Each skater s marks begin at zer Skaters are given credit fr what they d, nt what they nearly d. This applies t bth the A and the B mark We are marking t the ne standard arund the wrld. N lnger is a perfrmance judged as gd fr a primary, r very gd fr a tiny tt and awarded a 7.0 r 8.0 When a wrld champin is achieving 7 s and 8 s fr their perfrmance, yur mark fr the tiny tt must be in direct cmparisn in standard and mark awarded ie. 0.7 r 1.1 as apprpriate. This is very different t what we have been ding in the past, s we need t practice as ften as pssible t recalibrate ur wn persnal marking scale t align wrldwide. The mre yu judge and embrace the cncepts, guidelines and recmmendatins, the better! Use the APP that Barry has created t assist with quick B Marks cmpnents calculatin. And remember we are in transitin t Rllart that is bth dynamic and cntinuus, we use cncepts, guidelines and recmmendatins t prepare fr Rllart. 5 P age
