MC Championship events: a swimmer must hold a current Multi Class classification for the given stroke and have an official time (LC or SC) recorded for that event. Non Championship events: a swimmer who has not achieved the Championship qualifying time (either LC or SC) for a given stroke and distance can enter the equivalent Non Championship event. Swimming NSW Rules apply. Normal pool entry fees apply. The Meet Director reserves the right to amend program if necessary and may stop accepting entries from visiting (non- Swimming ACT) clubs prior to the advertised closing date if entries exceed timeline requirements. 2017 Swimming ACT Championships Meet Information Age group Championship and Non Championship events are open to all swimmers registered as first claim members of clubs affiliated with Swimming ACT. See Entry considerations section below. Open and Open Multi Class (MC) Championship events are open to all swimmers registered as members of clubs affiliated with Swimming NSW or FINA. Swimmers not affiliated with Swimming NSW are required to provide a clearance from their State or other relevant association along with their entries. MC events are open to swimmers who hold a current MC classification for the given stroke. The inclusion of Non Championship events, in addition to ACT Championship events, is to enable all swimmers who are first claim members of Swimming ACT affiliated clubs to participate in this meet. Non Championship 50m Backstroke, Breaststroke and Butterfly events are open to eligible Swimming ACT swimmers aged 9 years and over who have not achieved the Open ACT qualifying time. Event 85 is limited to competitors aged 14 and over. Event 86 is limited to male competitors aged 11 to 13 years. Event 87 is limited to female competitors aged 11 and over. Competitors in event 87 aged 14 and over will have the option of swimming through to 1500m. IMPORTA NOTE: Online entry considerations if registered as a first claim SACT swimmer 1. Where both a Championship and Non Championship event is listed in the program, the online entry system will only display a single event. Entries will be split into Championship and Non Championship events after entries close. The most up to date time will be extracted for this purpose. 2. 13-14 age group events will be listed as 13&O to accommodate the inclusion of swimmers aged 15&O in the Non Championship 13&O events. Where a swimmer aged 15&O enters a 13&O event and their entry time is equal to or faster than the open qualifying time they will be placed in the Open event. 3. Any swimmer may choose to enter an Open event where they have qualified for that event in lieu of their age specific event (see information about awarding points). 4. Swimmers who want to be considered for the Speedo Sprint Series finals must be aged between 8 and 13 years as at 4 February 2017 and must enter the relevant 50m event. Awards and Other Information Age group Championship events: Medals presented to the 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd placegetters with separate 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14 years medals awarded in 100m events, 50m freestyle and 200m individual medley, provided the qualifying time is achieved. Open and Open MC Championship events: Medals presented to the 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd first claim Swimming ACT registered swimmers. Other competitors placing 1 st, 2 nd or 3 rd will be awarded Visitor medals. Non Championship events: Awards presented to the 1st, 2nd, 3rd placegetters, with separate awards for 9, 10, 11 and 12 years in the 9-10 and 11-12 years age group events.
Swimming ACT 2017 Age Champions Points awarded to the first eight finishing Swimming ACT first claim competitors for each age group (8&U, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18&O) in Championship events. For Open events (except events 35, 36, 67, 68, 106 and 107) points only awarded to the 15, 16, 17 and 18&O age groups. Points not awarded for Non Championship events, second claim swimmers or swimmers aged 14&U competing in Open events that are also offered as Age Group Championship events. Points only awarded if the qualifying time (where applicable) is achieved. Points: 1st -35, 2nd - 30, 3rd - 26, 4th - 23, 5th - 20, 6th - 17, 7th - 14 and 8th - 11. ACT Age Champions (male and female) will be determined as follows: 8&U Age Champions -The ACT 8&U Age Champions (boys and girls) will be determined using the 50m Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke and Butterfly events. 9-18&O Age Champions ( 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18&O) and MC Champion (Open) - The Age Champions (boys and girls) will be determined using the seven (7) highest points gained by that swimmer in Championship events, provided the swimmer competed in at least five (5) events. The MC Champions (male and female) will be determined using the seven (7) highest pointing MC events for that swimmer from points gained in MC events. Speedo Sprint Series Heats Information Swimmers aged 7 to 12 years as at 4 February 2017 are eligible to proceed to the Speedo Sprint Series Finals to be held on Sunday 12 March 2017 at SOPAC. To be eligible for consideration the swimmer must: Compete in the 50m event at the Championships and be eligible to proceed to the finals Submit a completed Speedo Sprint Series Consideration Request Form no later than 11:00am on Saturday 4 February 2017 (for 7 and 8 year olds by 9:30am on Sunday 5 February 2017) to the Recording Table at the Championships. Forms will be available at the Championships and on the Swimming ACT website. Unregistered swimmers: The Speedo Sprint Series heats are open to unregistered swimmers. Unregistered swimmers must email their entries to lwuth@hups.net stating the swimmers name, sex, date of birth and the events they want to enter (50m freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly) no later than 10:00pm on Thursday 26 January 2017. Swimmer must be registered to proceed to the finals. Cost of entry for unregistered swimmers is $5 per event entered. Speedo Sprint Series Heats Ribbons Ribbons awarded to the three fastest male and female swimmers overall for 50m freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly events in the age groups 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 years provided the swimmer was eligible to compete in that stroke under the Speedo Sprint Series rules and they submitted the Consideration Request Form by the prescribed deadline.
