A versatile gas mixing system for blending LPG and air that is SAFE, RELIABLE, and EASY TO USE Contents The Blendaire II Advantage Mixing and Operational Modes Components Safe Reliable and Accurate Easy to Use Design Advantages Controls Peak Shaving Option Integrated Gas Density Meter Dimensional Chart Capacity Charts

The Blendaire II Advantage The BLENDAIRE II is a second-generation parallel-pipe synthetic natural gas mixer. The BLENDAIRE II evolved from the well-known BLENDAIRE mixer that dominated the utility and industrial SNG market for nearly 50 years. OPERATIONAL OVERVIEW The BLENDAIRE II mixes LPG vapor and air to create synthetic natural gas (SNG), which simulates the combustion characteristics of natural gas. The BLENDAIRE II functions much like a pressure regulator, automatically responding to load changes in real time. During operation, LPG vapor and air flow through pressure- and temperature-compensated flow meters. The ratio of these two flow rates is then compared to the calculated ratio of flow rates required to achieve a Wobbe value match to the natural gas being simulated. The SNG system pressure is controlled by the first-stage LPG regulator installed upstream of the BLENDAIRE II. Adjustment of the ratio is made by adjusting the air flow only. As demand increases or decreases, the air flow control valve modulates to maintain the correct mixing ratio between the LPG and air stream. Resulting Wobbe values typically vary less than 1%. Adjustments to the Wobbe set point can be performed manually via the touchscreen HMI or automatically if the mixer is in the ARA mode.

The Blendaire II Mixing & Operational Modes Two Mixing Modes Three Operation Modes FIXED RATIO Mixes LPG/air at desired ratio set point (for example, 58% propane to 42% air). AUTO RATIO ADJUST (ARA) Automatically makes small adjustment to ratio set point based on specific gravity/ Wobbe Index feedback from a gas-quality measurement device. LINE PACK The mixer changes modes from standby to run when mixed gas pressure drops and goes into run mode when mixed gas pressure drops below set point and returns to standby if the load is below minimum capacity. PEAK SHAVE Monitors natural gas flow and goes from standby to run mode when NG flow reaches max NG set point. Once in run mode, mixer modulates output capacity based on load changes and returns to standby if load falls below max NG set point. SUPPLEMENTING Supplementing can be configured using two methods. One, specific volumetric injection rate into the natural gas line (SCFH or Nm3/hr). Two, an injection rate as a percentage of the total load. A natural gas flow meter upstream of the injection point is required.

1 2 Blendaire II Components Blendaire II flow meters confirm the exact flow rate of the air and LPG. Why Blendaire II meters are better: Good rangeability Low pressure drop Not adversely affected by LPG heavy oils Quick response Worldwide approvals (ATEX, CSA, etc.) High accuracy Internal temperature compensated; no additional temp transmitter required No moving parts, unlike turbine meters Local display Sliding gate-style flow control valve injects the exact amount of air to blend with the LPG. Why sliding gate is better: Slim profile Easy-to-replace components; easily accessible Linear CV Large turndown Siemens positioner; easy-to-find dealer, spares, etc. Short travel; quick response (0.25 ) Valve body made out of bar stock; high pressure rating Includes all necessary safety approvals (PED, CRN, ASME, etc.) 2 1 1 REAR VIEW

Blendaire II Components 3 4 Gas safety shutoff valve stops the flow of gas in the event of a shutdown alarm. Mixed-gas safety shutoff valve stops the flow of mixed gas in the event of an alarm. 7 3 7 5 6 7 Stainless steel full port (positive shutoff) ball valves allow complete isolation. Competing systems use butterfly valves, which are NOT positive shutoff valves. While using butterfly valves costs less for the manufacturer, the end user bears the additional burden of this cost during installation. API 607 Fire-Safe. Check valves feature metal-to-metal seat for bubble-tight shutoff; higher than a Class VI rating. Internal flow turbulator completely mixes the LPG and air. 5 4 REAR VIEW 5 5 6 6 SIDE VIEW 5

Blendaire II Safe Algas-SDI has been mixing gases for over 60 years, and we ve thought of everything. BLENDAIRE II is designed with a multiple redundant safety system that incorporates 18 points of protection for safe, trouble-free operation. The LPG safety shutoff valve, the air flow control valve, and mixed-gas outlet valve will be shut off immediately upon any of the following circumstances: 1. Air pressure too high 2. Air pressure too low 3. LPG pressure too high 4. LPG pressure too low 5. Air flow too high 6. LPG flow too high 7. Wobbe index or specific gravity too low 8. Ratio out of range (>80%; <20%) 9. Loss of signal from any of the following instruments: Air pressure transmitter LPG pressure transmitter Air flow meter LPG flow meter Mixed-gas pressure transmitter 10. In fixed ratio mode, if ratio set point deviation out of tolerance (+/-5%): based on flow. 11. In ARA mode, if the Wobbe index or specific gravity is too high, mixer either reverts to fixed ratio or shuts down (selectable). 12. In ARA mode, if gas quality deviation out of tolerance (+/- 5%) If any of these conditions occur, the mixer goes into standby mode: 1. Low pressure differential (5 PSIG) between air and LPG, warning alert issued 2. Air flow too low, mixer goes into standby mode 3. LPG flow too low, mixer goes into standby mode 4. Maximum mixed-gas pressure set point reached standby mode 5. Peak shaving and natural gas signal lost, mixer reverts to line-pack mode (or shutdown if customer desires). 6. Calorimeter loses signal, system automatically reverts to fixed-ratio mode or shuts down (customer preference). Other safety features: Critical safeties are hard coded; no adjustment so no chance for operator error Redundant safety with calorimeter; double-check watchdog Independent double block, fail close, safety valves Normal Open vent valve between double block valves to ensure no leakage downstream when system is off 4 alarm output relays available (run, standby, warning, and alarm) 3 custom shutdown inputs (customer configuration), e.g., LEL, ESD, vaporizer, etc.

Blendaire II Reliable & Accurate The BLENDAIRE II incorporates a dynamic gain control system. Dynamic gain results in a quick response and maintains a stable, controlled mix regardless of the differential pressure (DP). The proportional gain automatically adjusts as conditions change (for example, a drooping regulator) optimizing performance. Top View These features further ensure reliability and accuracy: Quick stabilization: No flow to on ratio in less than 5 seconds Always accurate: Feed-forward mixing predicts proper ratio and stays on ratio in response to load changes. SST components; ball valves, flow meters, mixing turbulator Proven design Proven off-the-shelf components Very few moving parts More precise mix ratio: Only one parameter needs to change for mixing ratio adjustment No mixing piston to stick and foul with dirty LPG (heavy oils) Feedback control for additional double-check

Blendaire II Easy to Use With its plug-and-play functionality, the BLENDAIRE II offers industrial and utility customers an SNG mixer that is easy to install, operate, and maintain. Ease-of-use features include: Very few set points to adjust. Few pneumatic lines means less chance for leaks and fewer tuning requirements and no complicated pneumatics to troubleshoot. Adjusting mixed-gas heating value is as easy as punching in a number. Less maintenance; fewer components that need to be rebuilt. Unit remains in standby and automatically starts when demand increases. Easy to set/adjust cut in / cut out pressure for line pack. Convert units from imperial to SI on the fly. Plug and play: Simply connect power and run an Ethernet cable. All controls are pre-wired and tested requiring ony power and Ethernet to start the system. PLC on skid; very little field wiring required. LPG flow meter confirms the amount of LPG consumption, allowing easy management of LPG inventory. Easy one-touch start. FLEXIBLE CONFIGURATION Inlets on the BLENDAIRE II can rotate in any direction, making field installation easier. Front Side Rear All transmitters and flow meters have local displays.

Blendaire II Design Advantages The BLENDAIRE II offers numerous design advantages that make it the perfect mixing system for any need: Approvals/Design Standards ARA (automatic ratio adjustment) is a standard feature; no extra charge. Peak shaving option is easy and inexpensive to add for utility applications or applications where the customer wants to use as much natural gas as possible. Line-pack feature means 100% turndown for low-flow conditions and reversing furnace applications (glass). Lower pressure drop means less stress on the system. This could result in the elimination of the pump or the installation of a smaller vaporizer. Small footprint. Suitable for high-pressure applications. Quick delivery: Algas-SDI stocks major components, reducing delivery time. Flexibility: BLENDAIRE II design allows mixer to blend different ratios of different gases for biogas, waste gas, and landfill gas applications. Pre-mixing combustion applications. System includes instant flow and totalizer so the operator can optimize performance. NFPA 58 and 59 compliant FM approved Fabricated to ASME B31.3 standards Standard configuration is Class I, Division 2; also available in Class I, Division 1

Blendaire II Controls SAMPLE HMI SCREENS The BLENDAIRE II utilizes state-of-the-art PLC control technology designed by Algas- SDI to communicate with sensors and actuators and control the mixing. Adjustments to operating/control parameters are performed via the HMI. Control features include: Remote touchscreen (color) included as a standard feature. Ethernet switch allows customer to network their system and view remotely in real time. Networked system allows Algas-SDI to connect to the Seattle office to monitor the operation in real time. Data logging included. Totalizer included. Real-time feedback of mixing ratio. Three (3) custom configurable alarm relays available. Customer can use them to tie the mixer into an overall ESD system or provide a shutdown from an LEL detector or flame scanner. Modbus interface. Customer can control to Wobbe index, specific gravity, or heat value.

Blendaire II Peak Shaving Option The BLENDAIRE II offers a peak shaving option beneficial to industrial and utility customers. It allows an industrial customer to use as much natural gas as possible. Since natural gas typically costs less than LPG, the peak shaving option lets the customer keep their operating costs as low as possible. For a natural gas utility, the option allows them to purchase gas on an interruptible transportation contract, which is significantly cheaper than purchasing gas on a firm tariff. A: Mixer is in standby mode until load reaches 95% of NG setpoint. At 95% of NG setpoint, mixer turns on and mixes at minimum capacity setpoint. This is Stage 1 run mode. B: Mixer increases flow in response to increased load requirement, capping the NG flow at the NG setpoint. This is Stage 2 run mode. C: Mixer returns to standby mode as the load decreases below the NG setpoint. The mixer remains in standby mode until the load reaches 95% of the NG setpoint. D: Mixer automatically responds to load changes and injects SNG to keep the flow rate of the NG at the NG setpoint (Stage 2 run mode). E: If load exceeds the NG setpoint plus mixer maximum capacity setpoint, mixer will flow at mixer maximum capacity setpoint. In this case, the excess load requirement must be met by NG; NG setpoint is exceeded. F: As load decreases, NG and SNG are able to meet demand. G: As load decreases below NG setpoint, mixer reverts back to standby mode.

Blendaire II Integrated Gas Density Meter Algas-SDI can install its optional DS2 densitometer onto the BLENDAIRE II skid and integrate it into the BLENDAIRE II controls. The Class I, Division 1 DS2 measures the density of the gas and provides a 4 20 ma signal. Our proprietary Xact Sample design will automatically determine the ratio of propane to butane in the LPG feedstock and automatically toggle back to sample the LPG/air mix. Since the LPG feedstock is known, the PLC will be able to determine the necessary ratio of LPG to air and will instruct the BLENDAIRE II to control to that ratio. 1. Sample/calibration gas selector switch 2. Isolation valve 3. Sample gas regulator 4. Sample gas filter 5. Sample gas flow meter 6. Gas density meter 7. Isolation valve
