introduction how to specify ie 14 14 14 14 Note: nominal dimensions All dimensions noted throughout these application guidelines and price guide are nominal. Step 1: determine worksurface shape To plan a work area configuration, begin by determining the shape of the configuration desired. Both 120 and 90 configurations are possible with ie and each has its own benefits. In addition, both curved and squared worksurface shapes are available. Square Worksurface Shapes 14 14 14 Curved Worksurface Shapes 14 14 Step 2: determine workstation height Add Posts at appropriate locations within the workstation. Various heights and configurations are available to suit a variety of privacy requirements and functionality. 14 14 14 14 14

introduction how to specify ie 15 Step 3: horizontal support - part 1 Once the infeed location is determined, the Service Beam (JFL) brings Power & Data to all workstations. Ensure that the power (P) option for the Post is specified for all where the Service Beam needs to transfer power and data from one section to another. 15 15 Power (P) option for the Post 15 15 15 15 Step 4: horizontal support - part 2 Beams (JFY) are added to the workstation at appropriate locations for both horizontal support structure and functionality. Overhead storage and accessory requirements will need to be anticipated at this stage. 15 15 15 15 15 15 15

introduction how to specify ie 16 Step 5: space division Space Division is achieved with a variety of screens that are beam-mounted, desk-mounted, freestanding and inset into the Post and Beam structure. The Screens help to create different levels of privacy and functionality within the office space. 16 16 16 16 16 16 16 16 Step 6: worksurface supports To determine proper support, begin by determining height adjustability requirements. The Table Bracket (JFJ) with the Table Leg (JFT) to provide adjustable support. The Beam Mounted Worksurface Support (JFM) provides fixed height on- or off-module support. The Table Leg works with the Beam Mounted Worksurface Support as a fixed secondary support. The Pedestal Supporting Bracket Kit (JFZ) provides on- or off-module support and acts as both the primary and secondary support. 16 16 16 16 16

introduction how to specify ie Step 7: mounted, freestanding storage and accessories Desk and beam-mounted shelves, pedestals, and kiosks accommodate personal storage of files, binders, work tools and personal items. Most storage can be mobile and interchangeable within the ie product line. The accessories are moveable paper and media organizers that are designed to hang off of the Beam (JFY), Desk-Mounted Screens (JCD) or on an Accessory Inset Screen (JCQ). 17 17 17 17 17 17 Step 8: lighting, electrics and communications Power and Data can be routed from the building to the workstation using Power Poles (JEPL) combined with either a Ceiling Feed (JECF) or Base Feed (JEBA). Power and data run through the Service Beam (JFL) specified in Step 3 and is accessible through the use of a Service Beam Power Bar (JEJF). Casual worksurface level power and data access can be facilitated through the use of Plug-In Power Boxes (JEPM) or other products found in Complements: Teknion s Ergonomics & Accessories program. Non-power (N) option for the Post allows structural connections to the Beams and Service Beams, the power (P) option does the same but also allows wire management to run through the hollowed out post section to the adjoining Service Beam in order to carry power and data from the in feed to the last Service Beam of the run All are available in Foundation and Mica colors Semi-Segmented Post (JFH) Provides a cleaner visual above the worksurface but still allows for worksurface supports and Service Beams to be mounted below worksurface level Value alternative to the Fully Segmented Post (JFQ) Non-Segmented Post (JFW) Only top and bottom beam can be fixed to this Post Provides a cleaner visual Value alternative to all Segmented Posts 33 33 33 33 Power (P) option for the Post comes with smaller segments of snap covers which covers portions of the post reveal not taken up by screens or worksurface supports 63" - 83" h 23" - 83" h Add-On Post (JFA) Increases the Post height 4 dimensions (20", 28", 40", 60") are available to reach standard post height 33 33 51" - 83" h 33 23" - 83" h 20" - 60" h 33 Fully Segmented Post (JFQ) Consists of a 23" base unit and add-ons to reach desired height Transition Post (JFX) Provides connection between a workstation area planned at 51" and a 43", 63" or 83" high Post 33 Provides vertical support for beams, service beams, worksurface supports, accessories and mounted storage 1 1/2" 20" 33 Post is notched to accept components and supports at any 15 angle Levelers provide a leveling range of 3" 83" h 12" 8" 20" h 33 63" h 20" 28" h 63" h 33 51" h 43" h 8" 51" h 23" h 12" 33 1 1/2" Transition Post (JFX) Fully Segmented Post 51" (JFQ51) Fully Segmented Post 63" (JFQ63) 33

frame structure & screens horizontal frame basics The horizontal frame structure consists of Beams (JFY) and Service Beams (JFL). 34 34 All dimensions for Beams and Service Beams are center-to-center of Post The Beam and Service Beam are structural and must be specified separately Mounted storage, accessories and worksurface supports may require Beams at specific locations All screens require either a Beam or Service Beam both above and below All available in Foundation and Mica colors 34 34 34 Beam (JFY) 3.5" high horizontal component that can be used at all levels to create structure Mounts to any of the six segments (1 1/2", 23", 43", 51", 63" and 83") Only 18" - 72" widths can be used in workstation applications 12" - 114" w 34 34 18" - 72" w 34 34 34 34 34 34 The power (P) option for the Post must be specified for use with the Service Beam if power and data needs to transfer from one Service Beam to another Service Beam (JFL) Creates structure and manages power and data access Includes a cut-out (1.4" x 2.7") for insertion of a standard data/communications module (customer must provide own) All screens can be mounted above the Service Beam, only 14" high screens can mount below Service Beam power options: Power & Data Access on One Side (P1) Used as wire management with Power/Data Access on One Side Opposite side is a plain door Available in widths from 42" to 72" Power & Data Access on Two Side (P2) Used as wire management with Power/Data Access on Both Sides Available in widths from 42" to 72" No Power or Data Access (NP) Used as a pass through with No Power/No Data option Plain doors both sides Available in widths from 18" to 72" 34

frame structure & screens planning with posts and beams When determining specific Post and Beam requirements, several factors need to be taken into consideration including mounted storage, worksurface support and electrical needs Mounted storage requires a Beam (JFY) above and a Beam or Service Beam (JFL) below Service Beams (JFL) generally require the need for a Post with power options Semi and Non-Segmented Posts can only be used when post reveal is not required for Beam or Screen attachment Worksurface supports cannot mount to the Non-Segmented Post (JFW) When a Power Pole (JEPL) is used, a Fully Segmented Post (JFQ), Semi-Segmented Post (JFH) or Transition Post (JFX) must be specified with power option (P) 35 35 35 35 A Transition Post (JFX) is necessary when transitioning from a 63" high to 51" high elevation 35 35 When a Shelf (JSS) or Overheads are requested, a Beam (JFY) must be specified to attach to the top and bottom of the storage 35 A Semi-Segmented Post (JFH) may be used when a Beam is not necessary at the upper level If power and data access is required Service Beam must be specified with Power and Data Access on One Side (P1) or Both Sides (P2) A Service Beam may be specified with no Power/Data (NP) when no power or data access is required The Post with power (P) option must be specified between two Service Beams When no Service Beam is attached to a Post, a non-power (N) option may be specified At the end of an electric run, where only one Service Beam (JFL) attaches, the Post can be specified with or without power A Fully Segmented Post (JFQ), Semi-Segmented Post (JFH) or Transition Post (JFX) must be specified when worksurface supports are needed 35 35 35 35 35 35 35

frame structure & screens specifying screen elevations A Screen Assembly (JX) is available to facilitate the specifying of screens. 42 42 The Screen Assembly is not a bare frame but rather a virtual place holder where all screens can be inserted for clarification in assembly and specifying Screen Assembly (JX) should be specified at the correct width and height desired All Posts (JFQ, JFH, JFW, JFX), Beams (JYY) and Service Beams (JFL) are not part of the Screen Assembly and must be specified separately 42 Level 4 Level 4 Level 4 42 Level 3 Level 3 42 Level 2 Level 2 Level 2 42 Level 1 Level 1 42 42 To specify Screens, start from the highest location on your screen assembly and work down. Level 1 will always be the base level, however, depending on the screen assembly height chosen, there may be 2 (43" high & 51" high), 3 (63" high), or 4 (83" high) levels to specify. Any level can be left open if desired. If a Service Beam is being used, Level 1 can only be a 14" screen. If a Beam instead of a Service Beam is used, a 20" screen should be specified at this level. When specifying screens that span multiple levels (40", 48", 60", 80"), be sure not overlap screens. In above example, do not specify a screen at Level 3 or Level 1 if two 40" high screens are desired on an 83" high Screen Assembly. 42 42 Level 2 Level 2 42 Level 1 42 42 A 48" high screen can only be specified on a 51" Screen Assembly. In this scenario, a screen at Level 1 should not be specified. A 28" high screen can only be specified on a 51" Screen Assembly. In this scenario, a 20" screen or a 14" screen (if a Service beam is being used) should be specified at Level 1. 42

frame structure & screens planning with thin vs thick screens Screens may be different thicknesses and widths, therefore creating an inconsistent gap along the Post. 43 1/2" gap 43 43 1/2" gap 43 43 43 The width of the Fabric Inset Screen (JCF), Whiteboard Inset Screen (JCR), Accessory Inset Screen (JCQ) and Metal Inset Screen (JCM) fit flush to the Post. The Membrane Screen (JCS) and Translucent Inset Screen (JCA) have a 1/2" gap between the Post and the edge of the Screen. 43 43 43 1/2" gap 43 43 43 When mixing screen types, there may be a variation in the gap between the Screen and the Post. 43 43

frame structure & screens planning with cabins Cabins offer the ability to create inside spaces or semi-enclosed spaces. All components used in cabins are the same as those in conventional workstations, and can be easily reconfigured and attached to other workstations. 44 44 While all screens can be used in cabin applications, only the Membrane Screen (JCS) and the Translucent Inset Screen (JCA) come in 80" heights For optimal stability, 83" Posts should have at least two Beams connected to them however, they do not require screens for support Posts at 83" high make up the structure of the cabin 44 44 44 Beam (JFY) Main horizontal structural element of the cabin Available in wider lengths to allow for the creation of larger structures Membrane Screens (JCS) Attach only at the top and bottom so multiple screens can span a single Beam Membrane Screens specified wider than 72" will be shipped as two separate screens, which should be installed side-by-side max 114" w Whiteboard Inset Screens (JCR) and Accessory Inset Screens (JCQ) Provides privacy as well as functionality Fabric Inset Screens (JCF) Maximum size available is 40" high x 72" wide or 60" high x 30" wide max 72" w 44 44 44 83" h 44 44 44 max 96" w 44 Translucent Inset Screens (JCA) The 60" and 80" high screens must be clamped to the Post on the sides for stability, therefore a Semi-Segmented (JFH) or Fully-Segmented Post (JFQ) is required max 48" w 44 The 96" width is only available up to a 40" height 44

frame structure & screens cabin options There is an unlimited number of planning possibilities available for cabins depending on the angle and finishes selected. 45 45 45 meeting pod A cabin used for a meeting area can be made up of Upholstered, Laminate, Whiteboard and Accessory Screens for privacy, or Translucent Screens for an open feeling. 45 45 45 45 45 private office A private office can be achieved by using a combination of Upholstered, Laminate and Membrane Screens and 120 worksurfaces. 45 45 45 45 quiet area A quiet area can be made up of Membrane Screens.
