CONDITIONS CLAUSE 1 - CLASS 37 - PONY OF THE YEAR The following ponies will qualify for the Class 37 Pony of the Year. a) The top 20 ponies in the ESNZ Jumping Pony Grand Prix Series as at 23 February 2016. For the avoidance of doubt, the top 20 does not drop down to include lower rankings if some within the top 20 are not participating in the Pony of the Year. b) The top 10 Pony finishers not already qualified from the 1.25m Pony Championship Stakes, Class 27. c) The winners of the New Zealand, North Island and South Island Pony Championships if not already qualified. CLAUSE 2 CLASS 47 OLYMPIC CUP The following conditions apply to Class 47 Olympic Cup a) A nomination fee of $975 must be paid with entries by the 1 st February 2016. b) This nomination fee becomes non-refundable as at the 22 February2016 unless a vet certificate is produced. c) Acceptance fee is to be paid to the New Zealand Horse of the Year Office by 4pm on Saturday 5 th March 2016. d) For competitors placed between 1st and 17 th in class 46, $2,000 will be paid into their nominated bank account by 9 th March 2016. For competitors placed 18 th 30 th, this payment will be $1,000. Please note that, where applicable, the cheque is part payment of the prize money and will thus be deducted from the rider s total prize money. The remaining prize money will be paid out as per Show conditions. e) The committee reserves the right to change the prize money and entry restrictions, should they deem this necessary. If less than 30 horses start, the prize money will be paid out as stated on the Horse of the Year Website, which is the official schedule, down to the number of horses that start. f) All horses are required to do a trot up and will need to be accommodated at the showgrounds from 3/3/16 until 6/3/16. CLAUSE 3 CLASS 48 INTERMEDIATE RIDER OF THE YEAR a) This class has the same age restrictions as the Young Rider Series b) Riders who are entering Classes 28 & 48 must not ride the same horse in both classes. However the same rider may enter both classes on different horses. c) Junior Riders may enter this Class as well as Class 20 and 46 CLAUSE 4 CLASS 31 - NZ PONY CLUB AREA TEAM OF THE YEAR a) Teams are to consist of 2 ponies and 2 horses. b) Teams are to be selected by New Zealand Pony Club Areas c) Team members must be certified Pony Club Members and the 5 rally rule applies. d) Individual entries for this class are not to be made to the Horse of the Year Office e) Areas are to submit entries ONLINE to www.equestrianentries.co.nz by 1 st February 2016. If team members wish to enter other classes at the show, they must enter these other classes online. f) There will be no stabling on the grounds unless full stabling fees are paid online. g) There will be no ground levy payable by team members who are not competing in any other class. h) Team members, who are competing in other classes, as well as Class 31, must pay their ground levy and stabling fees online. CLAUSE 5 CLASS 46 - JUNIOR RIDER OF THE YEAR The following riders will qualify for Junior Rider of the Year., provided they fulfil the age group requirements as in Clause 6.below a) The top 20 riders from ESNZ Junior Rider series as at 23 February 2016 who qualify under the age restrictions in Clause 6. For the avoidance of doubt, the top 20 does not drop down to include lower rankings if some within the top 20 are not participating at Horse of the Year. b) The top 10 unqualified eligible riders from Class 20, Junior Rider. CLAUSE 6 CLASSES 20 & 46 JUNIOR RIDER CLASSES A person may compete as a Junior from the beginning of the season in which they reach the age of 12, until the end of the season during which they reach the age of 18 Art 255.2. CLAUSE 7 PONY CHAMPIONSHIP CLASSES a) Ponies may only enter one class from Classes 37, 40, 43, 44 and 52. b) Riders may enter as many of these classes as they wish but each entry must be on a different pony. CLAUSE 8 CLASS 13 SABA SAM SHIELD Annex 8 Art 74.2 5
a) There are no individual entries b) The manager of each team must complete the team entry form available from the office and return it to the office, with the entry fee by 4.00pm on 1 March 2016. c) Round 2 of the Saba Sam Competition will be run in conjunction with Round 2 of the 1.25m Pony Championship Stakes, Class 27(b). the top six Saba Sam teams will ride in Round 2 of the Pony Championship stakes, however, unless they were also a top 30 qualifier, any individual team member will not be eligible to qualify for Pony of the Year, regardless of their final placing. CLAUSE 9 - CLASSES 42 & 51 For classes 42 & 51(only), ages will be taken as at the 1 March 2016, a limit of 1 horse/pony per rider. CLAUSE 10 CLASS 18(a) AND 18(b) LADY RIDER OF THE YEAR. CLASS 36(a) AND 36(b) 1.35M CHAMPIONSHIPS CLASS 27(a) AND 27(b) PONY CHAMPIONSHIP STAKES These three classes will be made up of two parts - part (a) and (b) and will be run as follows a) Entries will be taken as per normal for these classes at Horse of the Year, into part (a). All three classes (Class 18, 27 and 36) will be run (separate classes) as a 2 round Competition Art 273.3.4 with a jump off. The first rounds will be run in Ring 1 and the top 30 (More or less*) horse and rider combinations from those rounds will go through to Round 2. b) Round 2 will be held in the Premier Arena on the same day. * more or less means that equality of faults will decide the size of the field with the optimum number being 30, but no less than 25 or more than 35. The final number of competitors going forward to the next round will be made based on the level of faults that brings us closest to our optimum number(30) of Round 2 competitors. CLAUSE 11 JUMP OFFS Classes, 9, 18, 27, 36, 38 and 46 in the Premier Arena, will have a jump off mandated. All clear rounds or the top 4 combinations ( if there are not 4 clear rounds) from each class will be required to jump off. Faults will be carried forward; clear rounds will jump last. CLAUSE 12 HORSE OF THE YEAR HAS RECOMMENDED THAT DRUG TESTING IS UNDERTAKEN ON ALL TITLE WINNERS CLAUSE 13 JUMPING NEW ZEALAND SERIES Horse of the Year is a Premier show. ESNZ series conditions will apply and points will be allocated as per premier show status for all classes as listed. In addition ESNZ jumping has agreed the two CSI2* classes (Classes 47 & 29) will attract Premier plus points (ie: 30 for a win) Classes to count for series points: CLASS 30 5 YO CLASS 8 6 YO CLASS 26 7 YO CLASS 29 SILVER FERN STAKES CLASS 38 PREMIER STAKES (HORSE GRAND PRIX POINTS) CLASS 37 PONY GRAND PRIX CLASS 28 YOUNG RIDER CLASS 46 JUNIOR RIDER CLASS 11 PRO AMATEUR CLASS 50 AMATEUR CLAUSE 14- CLASS 29 SILVER FERN STAKES All horses will be required to do a trot up and will need to be accommodated at the showgrounds from 3/3/16 until 6/3/16 CLAUSE 15 Class 39 will be run in two divisions. Division A The Championship Final. The Championship Final will consist of those finishing in the top 30 in either classes 21 or 32. There will be no dropdown if qualified horses do not start or are already qualified. Division B all others entered in class 39.. Class 41 will be run in two divisions. Division A The Championship Final. The Championship Final will consist of those finishing in the top 30 in either classes 23 or 33. 6

CLAUSE 16 PAYMENT OF ENTRY FEES No entries will be considered officially entered until entry fees are paid. No stabling will be allocated until entry fees are paid. 7
