Clubhouse News Megan Trypus, Food & Beverage Director Watch your emails for upcoming events and weekend dinner specials! From the President The rumor of Lake View converting our parking lot into an Olympic speed skating oval is unfounded. Furthermore, there are no plans to alter our fairways to accommodate training for Nordic skiing. Instead, the twinkle that was diminishing last autumn is once again beginning to brighten and that means golf is most definitely in your future. Very soon, the confined space and unfragrant world of indoor sport will give way to wide open spaces, fresh air, and green grass. At first glance, the golf course appears to have wintered well. A few nice days should allow for snow removal, cleanup, and greenup. Flags are in the greens and new cups have already been cut so start making your plans to get out and play. Some cosmetic and functional improvements have been made to the clubhouse during the winter shutdown. You will see a new color scheme in the main dining room that is accompanied by newly installed LED lighting throughout the building. This should enhance the visual experience and have a material impact on our energy consumption. Because the budget would not accommodate new carpet in the main dining room, the carpet underwent a professional steam cleaning to bring it back to life. These renovations were done at a minimal cost. I want to thank Bill Baughman, Chuck Ollinger, Aaron Ollinger, Sam Patton, Ryan Schaff, Ed Szewczyk, Dr. Eric VanDamia, and Drew Weinheimer for sharing their services to make some of these projects happen. The clubhouse will open on March 30th for dining and the golf course will open weather permitting, or no later than April 1st. The general membership meeting has been scheduled for April 25th. I hope to see you all long before that. Jim Weinheimer Light Up Lake View When you visit the clubhouse this year, I hope you will notice that all lighting inside and out has been upgraded to LED. Well over 400 lights have been installed to improve functionality and appearance and to reduce ongoing utility costs. Because this upgrade was not budgeted, we are encouraging members to contribute to the Light Up Lake View fund. A contribution of $50 will buy a light and will entitle you to a cocktail of your choosing. A contribution of $100 will buy two lights and entitle you to that cocktail and an appetizer. This is not an assessment and there is no requirement to participate, but for you philanthropists, environmentalists, or good deed doers, this is an opportunity to help your Club operate more efficiently. You may have your membership number billed or you may make a cash contribution in the business office or pro shop. Thank you for whatever assistance you may provide. EVERY FRIDAY! ALL YOU CAN EAT FRIDAY FISH $19++ Broiled? Blackened? Beer battered deep fried? It s your choice with this endless plate of Icelandic haddock.
