Conditions of Entry CHAPS(UK): This Show is affiliated to The Coloured Horse & Pony Society (uk).both owner and the rider/exhibitor need not be a member of CHAPS(uk) nor must the horse or pony registered with CHAPS(UK)to complete. However in order to qualify both owner and rider/exhibitor need to be a current showing member and present their valid qualification card IN THE RING for signing by the Judge. The highest placed pony, if owned by NPS members, in each class will qualify for the Final. Qualification can pass down to 3rd place if the first and second ponies are already qualified.. In Hand Home Produced Definition: These classes are open to pure bred ponies registered M&M ponies which are either stabled at home or in a DIY yard and which since 1 st Jan in the current year have not been shown by a producer or stabled in a producer s yard other than on a DIY basis or at stud. To be owned/kept, produced, ridden/handled by a person who does not receive remuneration in cash or kind from working with horses/ponies. No professional producers are allowed into the ring to groom/strip the horse/pony. Please enter this class in the spirit it is intended. Competitors who contravene the above will be disqualified. M&M Home Produced Ridden Championship- Riders of Home Produced ponies (see definition in the NPS Rules Book) can wear a white armband in classes where this is indicated. These ponies, if owned by NPS members, are then eligible to qualify for the final at the NPS Summer Championship Show. NPS Silver Medal Rosette Championship: These classes are judged under the rules of the NPS. NPS Silver Medal Rosettes are only awarded when the owner of the champion pony is a Qualifying or Life member of the NPS. The Owner s valid membership card must be in the rider s/handler s possession on entering the ring and be produced immediately on request by either the judge or the steward. If the owner of the Champion pony is not a member, or the owner s membership card is not immediately produced, the Rosette will be awarded to the Reserve Champion provided they have the required membership card. If the Champion pony has previously qualified it is still entitled to the Silver Medal Rosette but the qualification card goes to the Reserve pony provided the owner of that pony is a member of the NPS. The Silver Medal Rosette and the qualification card can be awarded no lower than First Reserve (third). Foals are not eligible for Silver Medal Championships. NPS/Kilmannan Stud M&M In hand silver medal championship: A silver medal rosette is offered by the National Pony Society for the best registered pony owned by an NPS Qualifying or Life member in the M&M In Hand section. Qualifiers (in Scotland) are entitled to compete in either the NPS/Kilmannan Stud M&M In-Hand Silver Medal Rosette Championship to be held at the NPS Summer Championship in Malvern, or at the Championship Show in Scotland. Qualifiers may only compete in ONE Kilmannan final. NPS /The Minns M&M Ridden Silver Medal Rosette Championship: A Silver Medal Rosette is offered by the National Pony Society for the best registered pony owned by an NPS Qualifying or Life member in the M&M ridden section. Qualifiers (in Scotland) are entitled to compete in either the NPS/The Minns M&M Ridden Silver Medal Rosette Championship to be held at the NPS Summer Championship in Malvern, or at the Championship Show in Scotland. Qualifiers may only compete in ONE Minns final. NPS Show Pony and Show Hunter Pony Qualifying Rounds: These classes are judges under the rules of the NPS. Ponies must be registered in the NPS British Riding Pony Stud Book, Register, Appendix, International or Sports Pony Section of the BRPSB, the GSB, the AHSB, the AASB or in the main body of their respective Mountain & Moorland Stud Books. Part-breds are not eligible unless entered in the NPS British Riding Pony Stud Book, Register, Appendix, International or Sports Pony section of the BRPSB. Ponies must be plaited. NPS SCOTLAND QUALIFIERS: 1. Ponies may only qualify once for each NPS Scotland Competition Final. Ponies that take a second qualifier for the same section will not be allowed to enter the Final. 2. All Mountain & Moorland Ponies must be registered in the main body of their respective stud book. Part breds and X registered ponies and Eriskays are not eligible. 3. Qualification in the M. & M In Hand Section may go to 3 rd in the Championship. All others may go to no lower than 4 th place 4. A Judge is not obliged to award an NPS Scotland Finals qualification if he/she feels that the pony is not of a sufficient standard.
5. Closing Date for Entries: Competitors qualifying at shows held before Monday 4 th June 2018 must send their qualifying cards and entries in by Thursday 28 th June 2018. Shows after 5 th June 2018 adhere to the closing date of 1 st August 2018 and strictly NO late entries will be accepted. Competitors that qualify at late shows after 1 st August 2018 are required to email Secretary and send in qualifying cards within 3 days of show 6. Cavasson nosebands are the only nosebands permitted in flat ridden classes. 7. For Novice classes: 65-67: Ponies must wear a snaffle bit. A pony is not eligible to compete if, before 1 st January in the current year, it has done any of the following: 1. Won an open NPS affiliated mixed M&M ridden class 2. Qualified for Horse of the Year Show, Olympia or RIHS Open ridden classes or RIHS Ridden class 3. Qualified for the M&M Novice or Intermediate Ridden Final at NPS Summer Championship Show (NB Ponies can compete as Novices in this competition for two consecutive years provided they do not submit an entry to the Final in the first year) 4. If a pony qualifies for the Horse of the Year Show, Olympia or RIHS in its second year, it is immediately de-noviced and cannot compete in the Kilmannan Final at Blair or Picton Final. 8. Entry for the Finals can only be made by sending the official card duly signed by the Judge at the time of qualifying with your entry form. 9. The Owner must be or become a member of NPS Scotland before entering the Finals. 10. M&M Novice ridden, Open ridden, Lead rein and First ridden classes are for ponies FOUR years and over, M&M WHP classes are for ponies FIVE years old and over. 11. All ridden ponies must be shown off the lead rein except in the specified Lead Rein Qualifier Class 12. M&M classes- riders of stallion must be 12 years & over when riding small breeds (Shetland, Dartmoor, Exmoor, Welsh A&B For large breeds riders of stallions must be 14 years and over (Highland, Fell, Dales, Connemara, New Forest, Welsh C&D) 13. A child must have attained their 12 th birthday as of 1 st Jan in the current year to either strip or lunge pony at NPS show, except for stallions where age will be the same as in the rule book to ride a stallion. 14. Handlers of stallion or colts must be over 14 years old. 15. Handlers of ponies in InHand classes aged 14 years & under must wear a correctly secured skull caps/riding hat that meets the current standards, 16. Max. Veteran Horse Society In Hand and Ridden Classes:1-8 These classes are qualifiers for the Veteran Society Supreme Final. All classes are PRE-QUAL Supreme Final qualifications-there is no 2 nd rounds. Open to members and non members. However, only Members may go forward to the Championship of the Day in all classes-if competitors placed 1 st & 2 nd are not Members qualification will be given to 3 rd &4 th providing they are Members. Qualification will go lower than 4 th place. If the Champion and reserve has qualified then the 2 nd or 3 rd reserve may take qualification. All competitors and grooms MUST adhere to VHS rules in ALL circumstances. Failure to do so will result in immediate disqualification.
