C.A.T.C. NEWS JANUARY 2017 THE CAROLINA ANTIQUE TACKLE COLLECTORS NEWSLETTER VOL XX NO 1RO PRESIDENT S MESSAGE Myrtle Beach! There s no other place like it The Myrtle Beach show was awesome! There were lots of auction items from the street. Some folks got some great deals, and some folks made some money from there items in the auction. The show was well attended, and a big thank you from the host, Gene & Suzan McIntire for attending. Thanks to the hurricane, we had to make some venue changes, but it worked out. Next year everything should be back in place. at the NFLCC in Pigeon Forge, Tenn., January 6 th & 7 th. Hack Hensley PS: As mentioned in previous newsletter, a long time member, Bob Dennis, had passed away. We were honored as a club to have the opportunity to display and sell his collections and treasures for his wife Sue. We have included a copy of the letter from Sue and a picture of the display. Thanks to all who helped with this project or purchased these items. Happy New Year CATC members, hope you all had a wonderful Christmas with family and friends and didn t make too many New Year s resolutions that you can t keep. Don t blink the spring show is just around the corner and we are looking forward to going to Fletcher NC for the spring show. This is a new location for the CATC and a new host Mr. Joel Wilson. Let s plan now to attend this show and sell out all the tables and support this first time host and new location. Also, looking forward to seeing everyone

Matthew came close to keeping us from having a CATC Show in Myrtle Beach, SC in November, however, with a few people in the Hotel Business and understanding members of the CATC, the show was a success. There were good comments on room trading this year, from the time members checked in at Staybridge Suites until they set up in the showroom on Friday morning at the Double Tree/Hilton. The Staybridge Suites also served breakfast each morning and the price of the rooms was $79.00 + tax per night. We had easy access to the show room, at the Double Tree/Hilton, with new additions to the hotel. The inconvenience was staying at a different hotel and commuting to the showroom, but it all worked out in the end. We had auctions of items which came in off the street. One auction was several items of tackle and other fishing equipment brought in by the widow of an avid fisherman. Karen was very happy with the proceeds of the sale, she left with approximately $1800. Thank you to all of the members who purchased the tackle. Another auction was a Creek Chub Dealer pack from the street. This auction was a success too. The third auction was items from the collection of our own Rev. Bob Dennis. Bob passed away earlier this year and the proceeds of this sale went to Sue, Bob s wife. Upon receiving the check of proceeds Sue returned 10% to the club. The raffle lure was a hit this year with ticket sales exceeding $600.00. The lure was a Creek Chub Pikie, Blk body, Wht head in the correct box. Thank you to everyone who helped at the check in desk and the auctions. Thanks to Joe Yates for taking pictures and posting them on the CATC Website. Hope to have everyone return next fall making it the 9 th annual show in Myrtle Beach, SC Hope you had a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all. Gene McIntyre Show Host Page 5
