Our Summer Festival runs from Monday the 30th July to Sunday the 5th August and boasts seven days of fantastic racing, delicious hospitality, entertainment, stunning fashion and an electric atmosphere that continues to draw people from Ireland and abroad. Over 145,000 people attended the Galway Races last year. The total prize fund for the fifty-two sponsored races of our Summer Festival reached an impressive 2 million. This year we are delighted to announce we are also hosting a NEW three day October Festival from Saturday 27th to Bank Holiday Monday 29th October, with lots instore for our racegoers. See details within this brochure. A day out at the Galway Races is the ideal way to spend time with friends and colleagues. Groups are very welcome with packages to suit your needs. There are plenty of delicious on-the-go casual food options available for race goers throughout the racecourse in addition to exquisite hospitality packages. Since we finished racing last Summer, it s been full steam ahead with our exciting new 6 million re-development project which will be ready for our racegoers to enjoy this July. Our new two storey building will transform the eastern end of the racecourse located down by the parade ring, revealing a new, fresh modern building that includes a new Betting Hall on the ground floor and a new Champagne Bar on the first floor. We look forward to offering our guests added comfort and facilities.

Our theme for the opening evening is Gather Your Tribe in the City of the Tribes, Galway. The historic Galway Plate race has been running at Ballybrit since 1869 with more heritage and prestige than any other race run at Galway Racecourse. This year will be the 149th running of this prestigious race and we can t wait for it! Widely renowned as Ladies Day at the Galway Festival, Thursday combines the very best in racing and fashion. The first of eight races takes place at 1:40pm with the feature race the Guinness Galway Hurdle Handicap offering an impressive prize of 300,000 to the winner. Ladies Day has always been the most fashion focused day of our Festival with the opportunity to showcase your elegant style. The Best Dressed Lady & Best Hat competitions are sponsored by the g Hotel & Spa, Galway. Friday is always a hugely popular evening race meeting, and a great way to kick off the Bank Holiday weekend. The first race starts at 5.10pm with all races sponsored by Guinness. Friday also plays host to the stylish Friday s Fair Lady competition. The winner of this competition will receive the unique prize of a Shop and Stay package courtesy of the Athlone Town Centre Shopping Centre and Sheraton Athlone Hotel. The final two days of the Summer Festival are full of fun and colour with children admitted free of charge. There s lots of entertainment for our young racegoers.
