New challenging and fun circuits are ready for all participants. PRESENTATION 4 The TROFEU INTERNACIONAL CIUTAT DE BARCELONA (TICBCN) is a competition that started with the aim of allowing Catalan selection to share an event with other European elite selections. Later, its aim was modified and it was opened to all participants individually. The competition has kept through its eleven editions its playful nature. The organizers are working with the idea to achieve that all participants enjoy the races and the city of Barcelona, which is now a touristic and sportive reference site worldwide. The Club Orientació Catalunya and the City Council welcome you to our city. We wish you a good stay and to get the most out of the races that we have prepared. Now, on its 12th edition, we are preparing an event with a training day at the nearby village of El Bruc(you might feel as being observed by the Montserrat magnificient boulders) and two races starting at the Pau Negre Stadium and the IES Jaume Balmes 16/02/2018 Middle distance tranining at Montserrat El Bruc - Barcelona. 17/02/2018 Long distance race around the Montjuic hill - Montjuïc - Barcelona. 18/02/2018 Sprint at the historical center of Barcelona. 23 REGISTRATION AND FEES Due to the special characteristics of the race on Sunday, parents of young runners will be able to ask for matching starting times so that they can be with the children in turns at the beginning and at the end of the race. Participants may hire a smartcard or chip if they need to do so.
ARRIVAL 24 On arrival, the finish line SportIDENT base must be punched. Competitors should then address to the finish tent to download the SportIDENT chip in the computer that records the results. If the chip is hired, it will have to be returned. In the event of loss, a 50 charge will be applied. IMPORTANT: Please, after arriving you must go to download your results even if you did not finish your race. This is important in order to make sure that all runners have arrived safe and sound and nobody got lost or injured. Refreshments will be available for all runners at the arrival. You will find a solid and liquid refreshment zone. TO KEEP IN MIND - Car Traffic: roads will not be closed to traffic. Although traffic is limited in those areas, it is very important to watch every time you cross any street and to be very careful with cars and vans,. Pedestrian crossings regulated by traffic lights must be respected too. - Attention to pedestrians: Always respect pedestrians as well as roadways rules. - First aid and ambulance: An ambulance will be ready in the competition centre on Friday and Saturday and at the arrival on Sunday, in order to evacuate anyone if required. In this case, the injured runner will be transferred to the nearest Hospital of the area. - Traffic-Works: We are running within an urban area and, it is possible that works that do not exist at the time of printing the map, may appear at the time of the race. Similarly, the Parks and Gardens city service could change the green zone of the long race if, unexpectedly,they started working on an area. - Locker-Space: COC staff will provide you with a place where bags and objects could be placed, but they will not be held responsible for any objects left there. - Showers: in the competition venues there will be the opportunity to take a shower on Saturday as well as on Sunday. - WC: toilets will be available in the competition venues on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. - Solid & Liquid Refreshment zone: besides the public fountains you might find along the circuit, a solid & liquid refreshment zone will be provided at the end of each race in the competition venues.
25 - Footwear: Metal studs are not recommended for Saturday and Sunday. Versatile/multipurpose footwear is advisable. COMPLAINTS Due to the type of race, no circuit will be cancelled in the event of a control misplacement. Should claims arise due to that reason, the technical jury might decide to cancel the sections defined in the appealed control. Therefore, all runners must consider finishing the race even though they may encounter problems deriving from the accessibility of the public to the controls, or due to organizational errors. Any complaint must be submitted in writing before the prize giving ceremony. RESULTS Provisional results will be published in the competition centre monitor and on the Internet. PRIZES The first 3 competitors for each official and non-official categories of the acumulates times of Saturday and Sunday races will get a prize. 26 MIDDLE DISTANCE RACE: EL BRUC 16/02 14:00 The middle distance race will take place in the neighbourhoods of El Bruc village. The competition venue will be located at the Casal del Bruc Residencial. (See information about the competition center El Bruc - Casal del Bruc Residencial CC1 page 8 ) TECHNICAL INFORMATION. 27 BOOKMARK NOTES The race is divided into two different sections. The first section is marked by thicker vegetation and moderate slopes. On the other hand, second section is characterized by a lack of slopes and a very structured road network. There is a busy track that surrounds the eastern part of the map and must be watched when crossing it. There are a couple of bee hives marked on the map as a dangerous zone in the central area of the map, and also a few water wells that are tape - enclosed, but which must be taken into account as some of them will reach 1.5 meters deep. You will find rocky areas, but only those exceeding 1 meter height are drawn on the map
LONG DISTANCE RACE: MONTJUÏC HILL 17/02 10:00 28 The long distance race will take place in the Montjuïc mountain. The competition venue will be located at the Pau Negre Stadium. (See information about the competition center Complex Esportiu Municipal Pau Negre CC2 page 11) TECHNICAL INFORMATION. The start for all the circuits will be located 1.5 km away from the competition center. A 25-minute pre-start will be arranged. The arrival is 5 minutes away only from the competition center. There you will able to empty your SI card, find the fluids and fruit station, showers and toilets. Maps will not be collected at the end of the race. Runners fair play is assumed! 29 BOOKMARK NOTES Although traffic is limited in those areas, it is very important to watch every time you cross any street. Controls have been placed in green areas. Pay special attention to avoid damages. There will be a neutralized crossing in all circuits. M/W elite and M/W veteran categories will require over 30 control punches. Make sure that your SportIDENT model can accommodate all of them! All categories, excepting beginners and children, would use a map printed on both sides. The first section of the race, the scale is at 1:5000 and the second section at 1:7500 You might find that timings on some of the circuits are slightly over a usual long distance race.,
MICRO-SPRINT RACE DIVERTIMENTO 17/02 18:00 30 The race will be based at Institut Jaume Balmes competition centre, and it will be held during the Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning. This is intended as a purely playful, voluntary, cost-free activity, aimed to fill in the participants downtime. No previous registration is required; runners can register at the Micro-Sprint area. This race will be timed using the SI system and no prizes for the winner. We only want you to have a good time. 31 SPRINT DISTANCE RACE: LA RIBERA 18/02 10:00 The Sprint race, runs through La Ribera. The competition centre will be based at Jaume Balmes Institute. Runners will be provided with a map to help them get from the competition centre to the start and another one to get back from the finish. The routes will also be marked with coloured ribbons as usual. Maps will not be collected at the end of the race. Runners fair play is taken for granted. TECHNICAL INFORMATION The distance from the competition centre to the start is 1000 metres (15-20 minutes walk), and 2000 metres (30 minutes) from the arrival to the competition centre (Sportident download, locker-space, showers). Warning: the pavement in some streets might be slippery and wet after the cleaning services. This is particularly important when turning corners! We have made some changes to make the itineraries more enjoyable, check out the map!! Some fences will be used during the course, it is forbidden to cross them.
