Susan McAllister Director of Golf Fairway Ladies It seems that it is time for me to step down and leave the Fairway Ladies in the able hands of my successor, Barbara Campbell (our reigning 9 hole Club Champion). Her Executive Board will be: Vice President, Betty Weed; Secretary, Kathy Lupoli; Treasurer, Marie Jaffe. These ladies and many other board members will lead us successfully into the future. So much has happened, where do I start? Betty Weed, and her staff of able assistants, invited lady golfers who are non-voting members, but support our club with time and treasure to our Court Report PEG ANSBRO REPORTS: The Tennis Association has a lot to be proud of at this time. We have a state of the art tennis facility accomplished through the efforts of JaneAnne Smith. We had a winning men s senior team and the Ladies tennis team also took first place. We had a series of wonderful, fun events throughout the year starting with WOOD AND WHITES tournament, BATTLE OF THE SEXES and the END OF THE SEASON BBQ. We began a Sunday brunch for the tennis players that was a huge success. Next year we have plans for a round robin and holiday brunch. We could not end the season without special thanks to our Maintenance Staff that includes Paul Davidson and Bob Shaw. Without their devotion and hard work it would be impossible to maintain our fantastic tennis facility. Also, many thanks to Brenda Malone for joining our monthly meetings and giving her expertise! Everyone needs a coach. Queen for a Day scramble and luncheon. This event was VERY successful. Our Battle of the Sexes was fun and resulted in a tie. I have to tell you, Lee Richter was our STAR. She was the only ball on the green on #7, ONLY BALL ON THE GREEN. Sorry, Boys but, we have photographic proof. Brittainy and Romeo were awesome as servers for our luncheon. Jim Brown took over a thousand frames of photos. What a worker!! Thanks, Jim. My husband, Roger, with his Fake News hat, drove Jim in the Pressmobile wherever he needed to be to get his shot. Thanks, Rog. And this year our coach, Dave Coutts, surpassed all expectations. His lessons and gentle manner and knowledge of the game made us all better tennis players. A big thank you to Dave. RESULTS OF PRO NIGHT AT MARINER SANDS Our coach, Dave Coutts, played in the Mariner Sands Pro Night on April 20 th along with eleven other pros. The TA is proud to report that Dave came in 1 st place at the exhibition. There were many Miles Grant tennis players there to support and cheer for Dave. We are so proud of our coach!! PETER HAUTH REPORTS: Another season has been completed. We ended up in a respectable THIRD place behind Monarch CC and Summerfield. As the captain I can only thank each and every member of the B-2 team for a great season. We were fortunate to have a roster of 18 players, which meant that I had to rotate several players and never did I receive a Roger has decided to NEVER play golf. Why would a man who fishes think golf is boring? Beats me. Finally, Susan, you were great to declare our tie as if it were a win for both sides. You know, I think it was. Loved the day and all who made my final act as President of the Fairway Ladies a total success. I have enjoyed my tenure and will continue to support this fine group of ladies in any way I can. Brenda Malone complaint. This was also my tenth season as the captain of the Miles Grant B-2 tennis team - it is amazing how time flies when you are having fun!! Congratulations also to the Ladies - champions of their division as well as the OLD folks (Senior League) that won their second championship with the last match on the last day of the season!! (It does not get any closer!) To all our snowbirds: Have a safe trip home and have the great summer like you are used to from your winter time in Miles Grant. Meanwhile, we have started the summer season and already we see many new faces. This week we had five courts playing by 8.00 am. It will be an amazing summer season with splendid tennis thanks to our seasonal members. Peg Ansbro, Peter Hauth and Mike Pisano wish everyone a summer full of tennis, good health and happiness!
