That score was only one off the record -18 set in 2008 by the Fifth Third team. Pictured left to right are Jerry Laffey, their ringer and former Indiana University Golf Team member Raman Bawa, Michael Rauch and Jon Dorbecker. This team also won 2 Skins points. Grant Thornton once again sponsored the trophies. - 1 -
There were record 123 golfers in the annual outing that funds student scholarships administrated by the local IIA and ISACA chapters. Tom and Donna Carlisle hosted the annual event at the Flagg Springs Golf Course, located in beautiful California, Kentucky. We had steaks and chicken after golf with refreshments, always plentiful. The Carlisle/Tocash team made their best ever showing with a score of -14. Pictured above left to right are Allen Stone, Ron Krieg, Tom Tocash and Tom Carlisle. And yes, we did use 91 mulligans - 2 -
(record is 100) and still have never won this event. The other contest winners pictured below were: Longest Drive #2 men Ross Shahandeh Longest Drive #2 women Karla Russo Closest to Pin #3 Closest to Pin #6 Raman Bawa Raman Bawa Shortest Drive #5 Tyler Bezold Longest Putt #9 Jon Dorbecker - 3 -

First Last or High Gross Honors with a score of four over par was earned by the Clark Schaefer Consulting team. Pictured above left to right are Jacquie Bauereis and Matt Burgess (First Financial Bancorp). Don Dickhaus and Seth Rensberger (First Financial Bancorp) were not present for the award presentation. Winning low or high gets you the same prize, a dozen golf balls. Maybe, the Carlisle/Tocash team should be going for First Last instead of Low Gross Honors. Special Mention Bob Dobbs, although unable to play this year, and American Financial Group/Great American Insurance Company fielded a record nine teams and also provided a sleeve of golf balls for each player. Dennis Mele, the only player to have played in all 27 previous outings, did not participate this year. We missed you, Dennis. Bob Dobbs once again donated an additional $250 designated to help fund the IIA Cincinnati Chapter Student Scholarships. The IIA Chapter is an IRS 501(c)(3) charitable organization for purposes of student scholarships and donations may be deductible. We cannot thank Bob enough for his support in this event. The Curse of Hole #14 With all due respect to Bob Dobbs, the only auditor while teeing off to lose his iron to the lake on hole #14, Tom Carlisle, a few weeks before the outing, nearly lost an iron while teeing off to the tree-like honeysuckle bushes opposite the lake. Tom lost his - 8 -
grip and the club soared high into the air almost never to be seen again. After looking and searching for a while, Tom told his fellow players to move on without him. He was not going to leave without his favorite club, the eight iron, lost somewhere in the bushes. Continuing his search in utter frustration and in a last ditch effort he violently shook the honeysuckle bushes. Down fell the eight iron, but only after searching for an hour. In triumph he walked away totally covered in scratches and cuts from his battle with the bushes of hole #14. Extra-Special Mention Our volunteers: Pat Cappel, Donna Carlisle, Greg Dooley Jr., Greg Dooley Sr., Ron Krieg, Erik Sieve, Allen Stone, Scott Sutherland, Tom Tocash, Chris Wasik, and Kim Ciraulo, Erin Giltner, Natalie Wichard from Vernovis. That will be the 25th outing hosted by the duo. Nevertheless, the event may continue to be held at the Flagg Springs Golf Course for the foreseeable future. They are looking for the next generation to take the reins for the annual outing to fund student scholarships. Are you up to the challenge to host and carry on this annual tradition starting with year 2017?
