Golf Operations Newsletter May Edition From the desk of: Adam H. Bowles, PGA Golf Operations Manager Greetings golfers! Welcome to the first edition of the Rumbling Bald Resort Golf Newsletter. This will be the most effective means of getting complete information regarding golf events, sales, programs, and initiatives to you. We will send the newsletter a few weeks prior to the upcoming month to better facilitate the planning of your time here at Rumbling Bald Resort. There are numerous activities for you to participate in while you are here. Keep this handy so you can be aware of all of them. We are looking forward to the upcoming season. The grass is now turning green, the trees are blooming, and the golf juices are flowing. Each month we will highlight areas of the course that we are making improvements to. We will also provide you with some insight into what our superintendents are doing to keep our golf courses up and running. We will also add some tips and instruction to further sharpen your game. We want you to be ready for your next round of golf. Either Greg Francis or myself can assist you with individual lessons. We hope you enjoy our new newsletter. Please let us know if you would like to see anything specific or feel there are any improvements to be made. We are here to make sure you enjoy your time and have all the tools you need to make your golf experience enjoyable! TIP OF THE MONTH: HOW CAN I GET BET- TER RESULTS FROM MY PRACTICE? The old saying "practice smarter, not harder," is the key to seeing improvement from your practice time. Quality practice means having a specific purpose to your practice. And that's only possible if you have a clear understanding and awareness of your strengths and limitations. Don't show up at the driving range and just randomly knock balls around. Have a plan, pick targets, and execute shots. Don't practice in the dark - it's hard to see the way to improvement. UPCOMING EVENTS: May 4th Lions Club Annual Golf Tournament at Bald Mountain Golf Course 8:30 Shotgun Start 18th-Couples Mixer at Apple Valley Golf Course 5:30 Shotgun Start 21st-23rd The Ladies Invitational at Apple Valley and Bald Mountain Golf Courses COUPLES MIXERS Couples Mixers: 5/18, 6/1, 7/6, 8/3 (New!) You may sign up as a couple or as a team of two couples. We will alternate golf courses and offer a food option by reservation after the event is completed. We will need to know who will be going to the restaurant after play so that a table will be ready for your arrival. The first event will be at Apple Valley with dinner following at Pinnacle Southern Kitchen. This is a great way for you and your spouse to sign up and play golf with your friends or meet some new people within the resort. THE MENS INVITATIONAL June 8th-10th The Men s Invitational is new for us here at the resort and we need you to get involved. We wanted to create an event that mirrored our very successful Ladies Invitational. We feel that we have done jut that! The Ladies Invitational is an event that is open to any player, whether they are a member or a guest. Our goal is to reach out to the public and show them what a wonderful place we have carved out here in the mountains. On the next page, you will find more detailed information on the event. The entry form is located at the end of the newsletter. The Run Now for the fun part. The theme for the event is Moonshine! The event will be called The Run and everything involved from beginning to end will reflect our chosen theme. The NC Mountains have long been known for Moonshine and we are going to reflect back on some of our heritage and embrace it. We will have themed tee gifts, flight names, games, and decorations for our meals. For winning the event, you will get to hold up the Moonshine Jug! Everyone involved will be striving for this honor! The Overall Gross and Net winning teams will each receive a Moonshine jug and will have their names placed on a ceremonial jug to be kept in the clubhouse for years to come. I have a tip that can take five strokes off someone's game: its called an eraser Arnold Palmer THE LADIES INVITATIONAL May 21st-23rd Each year this event grows bigger and more people from the surrounding area come to see our beautiful courses and resort. This year is no different. We have over 80 ladies already signed up. There is still time for you to get involved and to take part in this experience for a two person team to enjoy from beginning to end. The golf courses are always in peak condition and we spare no expense to make sure you feel welcome and well taken care of. During the event, we offer five meals, tee gifts, 36 holes of competitive golf and so much more. Competitive golf and a social event collide in the best of ways. Come and see what is quickly becoming the premier ladies golf event in the state. In the back of the newsletter you will see some more information as well as our entry form. 4
