It is intended for someone who has either helped or assisted with a particular incident or event or for someone who has generally been of valuable assistance throughout the season. This year it s JAMIE HOUGHTON

The Lifetime Achievement Awards An important and another touching award to show some recognition for our horse companions who have sadly passed away during the previous competitive season these always deserve to be remembered. This year unfortunately we have quite a few of those such companions including some very high distance horses. Selena of Caenlochan owned by Betty Paul and who completed 400 kms in her career. Miss April owned by Jackie Lloyd, who retired quite a long time ago but completed 2749 kms. Minstrel Max who was Sam Parkinson s companion and who completed 2597kms in his endurance career. A very sudden and sad loss early in a very successful international career was that of H S Prosper owned by the Atkinson family who completed 1037 kms. Shedykta who was Lynn Jacksons horse partner who completed a wonderful 7435 kms in her endurance life in both competitive and non-competitive events. Another wonderfully high mileage horse was Judy Ainley s Huggy Bear who completed 7037 kms is his long competitive life. A sudden loss was that of Carolyn Cummings whose Peterbrook Sunset Surprise had completed and amazing 15487 competitive and none competitive kms we believe the highest recorded kilometerage recorded. A very recent sad loss was that of Gillian Bower s Addiewell Prince Charming who completed 1391 kms in his endurance career.

Additionally, these Lifetime Achievement Awards were designed to be awarded not only to horses that have left our side, but also to those who are now permanently retired from their endurance careers. These can only be claimed if this is genuine permanent retirement, and such horses will not be able to claim any mileage or awards in the future. Retiring this year is Jewel owned by Philip Rice and who completed 2049 kms in both competitive and non- competitive rides.
