Main Ring 400' X 200' Sept I * 325' X 185' Sept II and Oct White Side Ring 228' X 120' Indoor Ring 250' X 100' Opportunity Classes Riders in these divisions are exempt from USEF&USHJA Membership Fees, and will also be exempt from paying the USEF Federation Fees (but must still comply with the Drugs & Medication rules and may still be subject to drug testing). There are a few restrictions on the riders eligible to participate in this program, please see USEF Rule GR821 to make sure you are in compliance. In short: Riders may not have shown in any USEF rated division, horses may have. This is a great opportunity to welcome new riders to the world of recognized showing, and to introduce them to the USEF and USHJA! OPPORTUNITY DIVISIONS AT THESE SHOWS: Opportunity Beginner Rider Opportunity Beginner Rider Hunter The following divisions are also exempt from USEF/USHJA membership: Mini Stirrup, Elementary Horsemanship and Leadline DIRECTIONS TO BLACK RIVER FARM 20 Boss Rd., Ringoes, NJ From the North: From Rt 287 take exit #17 onto Rt. 202 South towards Somerville/Flemington. Go 19.4 miles. Make a right at light onto Old York Rd/179S. Follow 179S 1.1 miles and turn right onto Boss Rd. Go.2 miles, Black River Farm entrance is on the right. From the South: Rt 295 North toward Trenton. Rt. 295 North becomes Rt. 95 South. Take exit #4 to Rt. 31 North. Bear right onto Pennington Rd (Rt. 31N) toward Pennington. Continue on Rt. 31N for approx. 10.5 miles. Before the overpass, bear right onto Rt 202/31 towards Flemington. Follow signs for 202S and exit to the right, then turn left onto Wertsville Rd and cross back over Rt 202. Stay straight until T and make a left onto Rt. 579S. Bear right onto 179S, make the first right onto Boss Rd to the farm on the right.

LEADLINE DIVISION Entry Fee: $10.00 per class Horses and riders in this division are exempt from all USEF & USHJA Membership Fees, and also are exempt from USEF Fees for the day. 1. LEADLINE - Walk only. Open to riders 6 years of age and under. 2. ADVANCED LEADLINE - May be asked to trot, demonstrate a jumping position or answer simple questions. 3. OFF LEADERS - Leader to stay with rider. ELEMENTARY HORSEMANSHIP DIVISION Riders in this division are exempt from USEF/USHJA Membership Fees. ENTRY FEE: $20.00 per class Open to riders of all ages who are part of a lesson or academy program. This is a walk-trot division designed to introduce a rider to the elementary aspects of horse showing. Riders must not have competed in any other classes at a horse show except Leadline or Walk-Trot. Neat and appropriate attire is required, including ASTM approved helmets and proper footwear, but formal attire is not required. Riders subject to the rules of the USEF and USHJA but are exempt from membership. 4. Elementary Horsemanship Walk-Trot Equitation - to be shown at the walk and trot both directions of the ring, to be judged on rider s performance, position and control of mount 5. Elementary Horsemanship Walk-Trot Two Point Equitation - to be shown at the walk and trot both ways of the ring, demonstrating a two-point position on the judge s discretion 6. Elementary Horsemanship Walk-Trot Pleasure - to be shown at the walk and trot both ways of the ring, to be judged on the mount, showing manners, performance and way of going, may be asked to perform simple commands at the judge s discretion 7. Elementary Horsemanship Walk-Trot Cavaletti - a short course of four cavaletti poles placed in a simple pattern, judged on rider s performance, position and control of mount MINI STIRRUP WALK-TROT DIVISION NJHSA High Score Awards sponsored by The Svoboda Family, Oldwick, NJ in memory of Polished Brass No USEF or USHJA Memberships Required for this Walk-Trot Division. RULES AND REGULATIONS 1. Please fax entries to (908)-832-6402, or phone to (908)-832-7402. Please use a completed entry blank and show ALL necessary proof of recording for every OWNER, RIDER, TRAINER and HORSE! An incomplete entry blank cannot be issued a back number. Every class offered herein which is covered by the rules and specifications of the current USEF rule book will be conducted and judged in accordance herewith. 4. All hunter classes will be judged on performance and soundness with emphasis on soundness and manners unless otherwise noted. 5. The Briarwood Farm Horse Show, Briarwood Farms Inc., the Committee, Black River Farm, or the property owners will not be responsible for any accident, loss or damage which may occur to any horse, rider or equipment before, during or after the show. 6. Should any question arise that is not covered in the USEF Rule book the same shall be referenced to the Show Committee whose decision shall be final. 7. Failure to enter the ring within three minutes of being called will incur elimination. 8. All fees must be paid and entry complete before numbers can be issued. 9. The Committee reserves the right to cancel, combine, change location or add any class(es) or schooling deemed necessary. 10. Ties for first place will be jumped off, all others will remain tied receiving equal points, ribbons and prizemoney. 11. All riders must wear proper attire including proper headgear at all times mounted on the showgrounds. See USEF rules for full compliance. 12. Horses must enter entire division to be eligible for prizemoney. 13. Prizemoney and Championships will be awarded at the conclusion of the division at the show office. Please allow one-half hour for processing. 14. All pets must be leashed. 15. It is a condition of entry to the showgrounds that these rules and regulations be read, understood and accepted. 16. Jump orders will be constructed at the discretion of the show management by the steward. 17. A processing fee of $40.00 will be made for all non-negotiable checks. Any returned checks not "made good" within 10 days will be forwarded to the USEF for collection. 18. Proper disposal of sharps is to be done in the show office in the container provided. Competition Management may fine any individual up to $100 for improper disposal of needles or other sharp disposable instruments. 19. Life, senior active and junior active members shall be eligible to participate in all classes at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions at the Preliminary Level or above and Combined Driving Competitions at the Advanced Level, Dressage, Reining and Vaulting Competitions and Endurance Rides provided the respective breed/discipline dues or breed/ discipline category fee has been paid. A nonmember may participate as a handler, rider, driver, owner, lessee, agent, coach or trainer at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions, Dressage Competitions, Reining Competitions and Combined Driving Competitions upon payment of a $30 Show Pass Fee. Participants in the following classes are exempted from the Requirements of this rule: 1) leadline; 2) exhibitions; 3) games and races; 4) classes for 4-H members; 5) walk trot and academy classes (academy classes are classes limited to horses used regularly in a lesson program); 6) USDF introductory level tests, pas de deux and quadrille classes; 7) NRHA Endorsed Reining Competitions; 8) Opportunity classes; 9) citizens of other nations who have proof, in English, of current membership in good standing of their own National Federation, 10) USEA beginner novice division; and 11) assistant handlers in Dressage Sport Horse Breeding classes. 20. Minors who do not have a valid driver s license which allows them to operate a motorized vehicle in the state in which they reside will not be permitted to operate a motorized vehicle of any kind including, but no limited to, golf carts, motorcycles, scooter, or farm utility vehicles on the competition grounds of recognized competitions. Minors who have a valid temporary license may operate the above described motorized vehicles as long as they care accompanied by an adult with a valid driver s license. The parent(s), legal guardian(s), or individual who signs the entry blank as a parent or guardian of a minor operating a motorized vehicle in violation of this rule are solely responsible for any damages, claims, losses or actions resulting from that operation. Violations of this rule will be cause for sanctions against the parent(s), guardian(s) and/or trainer(s) who are responsible for the child committing the offense. Penalties may include exclusion of the child, parent(s), guardian(s), and/or trainer(s) from the competition grounds for the remainder of the competition and charges being filed against any of the above individuals in accordance with Rule 6. Wheelchairs and other mobility assistance devices for individuals with disabilities are exempt from this rule.
